The movie had no plot whatsoever. I like for there to be some sort of respect for physics and time. This movie had none of that. Great kills. Plotholes galore.

Okay hes robbing a house.............soo no cops. The traps were pretty far fetched im guessing most of the traps were set before he got there ( the ones you couldnt see) but then the collector trapped the house. The traps were badass, and made the movie suspenseful.....so there necessary. And its a horror movie man, people arent the brightest in all horror movies. And there was a shotgun in the collectors hand.....................thatll blow up a dog, on fire or not.
You guys didn't watch the movie properly obviously. There were many reasons why those 'Pot holes" where the way they where. Also He HAD traps because represents a spider. Hence his EYES and the spider it kept showing. His TRaps were his "Spider-WEBS"
@ryann45 exactly. the traps were setup for his intended victims, thats why he allowed them to escape the basement with the intention they would fall into one of his webs. how he got them all setup in one evening is another matter though..also hopefully the who and why will be explained in the sequel. the ending was kinda lame and predictable. good movie though, started great, second half not so great but the traps were pretty cool.
@dageezerboi did you see after the credits? And In the very biggining of he film if you look closley during the intro, you see him building the raps and going over blueprints for the house. Also, in he sequel, Arkin is acually huning down the collector with a team of mercenaries.

i have a theroy about the movie. when he said to that guy that hires him that he woudnt accept the 40% and that guy said hes been staking out that house for weeks, maybe the exterminator was hired for that and wen the guy disagreed he called the collector to end it hence setting up all the traps. lol idk i guess but you have to try to think outside the box with certain movies, put things together.

As a huge fan of all things horror, I have to say that The Collector was an amazing film and judging by your behavior, I can kind of tell you two went to see this movie with the intention of not taking it seriously. I did the same thing when I first saw it, but since I'm knowledgeable enough to know what a good horror movie is, I fell in looove with the Collector. It's way better than Saw and TOTALLY deserves a sequel. Keep an open mind.. Now go traumatize yourself and watch Cannibal Holocaust.
These guys have got to be joking. Excluding the original, I felt that this movie was far superior to any of the SAW films. The Collector has one thing that no SAW film ever had: Suspense. Suspense is the primary ingredient in any truly great horror film, and in recent years, we've been going through a suspense drought. I mean, come on. How jaded can you possibly be to hate this movie? These are kind of guys who probably walked out of Transformers saying, "Well that sucked. Cars can't do that."

Well..... I watched it and I was completely disappointed in it, it was just another slasher film, just more intricate. The plot sucked terribly, everyone dies, and I could tell what was going to happen 2-3 minutes before it happened! That just downright disappointing. In my opinion the director needs to retire, because his ideas completely suck ass, I agree with you guys this movie was terrible, unwatchable.

some of this movie's traps are impossible but also much less ridiculous than almost anything from the Saws. The Collector as a antagonist is so much more effective then "appreciate your life " Jigsaw. Don't get me wrong through Saw is a classic.

The whole traps in the house where never in the rooms or route to the safe so the fact he never saw any until he realised someone else was in the house very plausable.
The collector was in the basement the whole time who knows how long and had plenty of time to do whatever he wanted. The bobbie traps were for the family he was initially tourturing? Did u even watch the movie?
The movie was alright. There were some parts that were good, the idea of having traps in the house was good, but it was executed in a wrong way. I knew who the collector was right away as well. The movie lacked some thrill, which is always good in movies like these, or any movie with a twist in it.

The main thing i didn't like was the BS ending, i wanted the villain to be killed & why was he collecting victims anyway? and how exactly were they "bait" ? oh well... Madeline Zima's topless scene was a highpoint (although probably a body double) man she's become hot since The Nanny!
this movie had so much potential but they blew it. A killing machine, that tortues people, wow very orginal and damn near no story line. Hollywood is lacking these days, when they cant come up with a good idea in a movie they just pack it full of gore and hope it sells. They know he went to punch him and then got stabbed in the hand why would anyone punch a blade? 3. Yeah he was robbing it but after awhile when he saw that the collector was killing people if he called the cops they wouldnt have thought he was robbing cuz At the end did the cops ask what he was doing or who he was ? no so they wouldnt have if he called in the beginning of the movie.
1.The dog didn't 'explode'. As I said above, it split apart when The Collector shot it. A dog doesn't explode now does it?
2. No. How Eric and his friend explain it, is that the boyfriend purposely punched the knife. They didn't say that The Collector moved the blade into his fist.
3. If he called the police they would question him as to why he was there, & what he was doing. They'd also have forensic evidence, so he'd be found out eventually.

only thing i was interested about was how the collector manged to flip an ambulance with a van after being stabbed in 5 different places. but i liked the movie the main guy was a total bad ass and i thought he should've survived.

Okay hes robbing a house.............soo no cops. The traps were pretty far fetched im guessing most of the traps were set before he got there ( the ones you couldnt see) but then the collector trapped the house. The traps were badass, and made the movie suspenseful.....so there necessary. And its a horror movie man, people arent the brightest in all horror movies. And there was a shotgun in the collectors hand.....................thatll blow up a dog, on fire or not.

You guys didn't watch the movie properly obviously. There were many reasons why those 'Pot holes" where the way they where. Also He HAD traps because represents a spider. Hence his EYES and the spider it kept showing. His TRaps were his "Spider-WEBS"

@ryann45 exactly. the traps were setup for his intended victims, thats why he allowed them to escape the basement with the intention they would fall into one of his webs. how he got them all setup in one evening is another matter though..also hopefully the who and why will be explained in the sequel. the ending was kinda lame and predictable. good movie though, started great, second half not so great but the traps were pretty cool.

@dageezerboi did you see after the credits? And In the very biggining of he film if you look closley during the intro, you see him building the raps and going over blueprints for the house. Also, in he sequel, Arkin is acually huning down the collector with a team of mercenaries.

As a huge fan of all things horror, I have to say that The Collector was an amazing film and judging by your behavior, I can kind of tell you two went to see this movie with the intention of not taking it seriously. I did the same thing when I first saw it, but since I'm knowledgeable enough to know what a good horror movie is, I fell in looove with the Collector. It's way better than Saw and TOTALLY deserves a sequel. Keep an open mind.. Now go traumatize yourself and watch Cannibal Holocaust.

These guys have got to be joking. Excluding the original, I felt that this movie was far superior to any of the SAW films. The Collector has one thing that no SAW film ever had: Suspense. Suspense is the primary ingredient in any truly great horror film, and in recent years, we've been going through a suspense drought. I mean, come on. How jaded can you possibly be to hate this movie? These are kind of guys who probably walked out of Transformers saying, "Well that sucked. Cars can't do that."

Well..... I watched it and I was completely disappointed in it, it was just another slasher film, just more intricate. The plot sucked terribly, everyone dies, and I could tell what was going to happen 2-3 minutes before it happened! That just downright disappointing. In my opinion the director needs to retire, because his ideas completely suck ass, I agree with you guys this movie was terrible, unwatchable.

Also to further my point. The collector was only after the little girl. The movie mad a point to show you he keeps the ones he is after and kills the ones he doesn't. Also most serial killers evolve in their fantasies so its very plausable to create more traps.

Hollywood is lacking these days, when they cant come up with a good idea in a movie they just pack it full of gore and hope it sells. The Collecter shot the dog as it flew at him, hence why it split apart, not because it exploded.
The boyfriend went to hit the Collector, but the Collector moved his knife where the fist was going.
And he was originally robbing the house, so calling the cops would be a stupid thing to do.
Its a decent film and much better than any of the SAW's.

1.The dog didn't 'explode'. As I said above, it split apart when The Collector shot it. A dog doesn't explode now does it?
2. No. How Eric and his friend explain it, is that the boyfriend purposely punched the knife. They didn't say that The Collector moved the blade into his fist.
3. If he called the police they would question him as to why he was there, & what he was doing. They'd also have forensic evidence, so he'd be found out eventually.

It was a bad movie, but I found it entertaining. I still enjoyed it, but I wouldn't call it a grade A horror flick. I agree, there were many, MANY plot holes (that I tried to turn my back to). But as an aspiring filmmaker myself... well... certain bad movies usually make me cringe, this one made me laugh.

only thing i was interested about was how the collector manged to flip an ambulance with a van after being stabbed in 5 different places. but i liked the movie the main guy was a total bad ass and i thought he should've survived.

i actually enjoyed it, sure it wasnt amazing but it felt different somehow, it had plotholes and everything but it was still a fun movie to watch and it was one of the only ones where i was attached to the main character and found myself wanting him to survive.

I liked the movie The only problem ifound was.. why the hell did he go back in to save the little girl.. i mean not to sound harsh but its ur life or hers and i would of ran to another house or sumthin called i mean the little girl hid for that long she can hide a little longer then i would yell to the police GET UR SWAT TEAM DOWN HERE NOW THERES A MASK MURDERER etc.. i mean.. the guy wouldnt of killed the little girl as soon as he spotted her not to mention it would take him awhile to pack up.

But still survial of the fittest as much as a "YES i would save the little girl" I want to say but i mean.. you know the torture u put the parents through.. why would you risk taht to be a hero. the child was gonna grow up scard for life anyway T_T the final scene interested me tho because you always think the hero is gonna win *sigh* but the movie was great over all. when in doubt.. blow the evidence up lol

Ok, it doesn't have much of a plot. BUT your over looking 1 key factor, ITS A MOVIE. It doesn't matter about the holes. People, except people like you, don't care to much about the "holes". Its a movie kids. Don't look to far into it.

I know you prolly grown up in the middle of high technology and mind closets, but *Flashnewwwsss*... lots don't use a cell phone and live in open spaces. I can even imagine a criminal being caught and saying to the authorities "Wait let me get my one cell phone call I have right to"...Nevahhh!! they go to the station and call, amazing!! Plus Saw IS NOT HORROR MOVIE! You are not watching horror movie in Saw alikes. Call it GORE, or whatever but it is not horror/terror.

Did anybody else get really fucking angry when you didn't see the Collectors face at the end. And how does this guy set up all this shit!. The gore wasn't even that good. I wanted some fucking violence man. The ending was bullshit too. It was FUCKING stupid. I just made fun of the film the whole time. The mask was pretty cool. But the collector made the dog explode by shooting his shotgun at the main protagonist and the dog was in the way.

he didnt throw the dog as a weapon, he used it as a distraction so the collector would shoot it and the burglar would tackle him
