  • Yet again brilliant. Yes Teddy was going fast but he wasnt flat out and he kept himself balanced and even. good riding and I love the way he is so eager to jump!

  • wow whata bold rider :)

she´d be great for x-country... i mean she still has a way of training to go but excellent attitude and a lot of guts! i like seeing riders and horses like that!

    well done :)

  • i love australian stock horses theyre so cool!! i have a nz stationbred x quarter horse and shes the best when shes not refusing :)

  • Yes the horse is going quite fast, but the rider is clearly in control, follows the movement very nicely and the horse takes off on a good stride every time. A nice fluid round - I like it :)

  • @Mainehorse She lives in Australia. Victoria I think.

  • Thats a good idea to let him go his own pace, i need to try that with my pony! the only problem is that she refuses constantly...

  • I agree with perfectstorm, his jump is really smooth :) lovely horse :)

  • he has a really smoth jump

  • no way. i have a horse called teddy too,(teddy bear hehe) he looks amazing ^_^

  • good job but i disagree with you on the fact that you should let them choose their own pace. i was riding in a show once and i decided to give her her head and let her work it out because it was higher than usual and she went lame from going too fast and then not being able to refuse or run out on a jump at was too big for her at the end (puissance) just saying though.

  • @twireimoonshine7

I guess it depends on how fast the horse actually wants to go. Teddy was going at a pretty fast speed, but it wasn't dangerous & I was still in control. It sounds as though your horses was much too fast, seeing as she went lame because of it.

So letting them pick their own pace isn't a bad thing, but you still need to make sure the horse isn't going to hurt itself.

  • @Bhukshine well she was pretty fast but i was still in control, i was just saying at the end it ended up being too fast because she picked a bad pace and didn't realize she couldnt jump the height of the jump. and yeah i was mistaken that she had picked the right pace for her because it wasnt right, so i trusted her too much. i was just saying that letting them pick their own pace is not better than trying to figure out what is safe.

  • Where do you live? England? Just curious.

  • @Mainehorse

Lol you thought this was England? I'd of said the accents were more american and the scenery is the least English thing I've ever seen :P

  • @Mainehorse

Actually I take that back, I'd of said Australia?

  • he has a fantastic jump, you've done extremely well with him if you bought him unbroken :)

  • how much was that horse

  • @stockhorse100

Cheap, I bought him unbroken. And judging by your name, you may be interested to know that he's an australian stock horse :)

  • man you guys are speeedy!!! (:

  • wow good job!

at first i thought u were going a bit fast but them i read some comments below and like u said, hes got bigger stirdes, and that he needs to pick up that momentum to jump those jumps,

    and i totally agree =)

    good job again =)

and i think my friend went to this freshman showjumping lol

  • lookng good XD i love how you're like "yeahah!" at the end XD great round

  • well done tegan! he looks fabo! its a lot easier to let a horse like teddy (and esp my old horse rainie and even some-what with earl) to let them set their own pace, if you fight them too much you just end up with their head in the air, their back hollowed out, and collecting rails!!! he just happens to have a very big stride thats all! he looks SOOOOOOO happy!!!

  • wow you guys look fantastic! Good job!

  • I don't know much about jumping, but you look like you did very well! He looked so good!

  • Taking that he was not ridden for a week, that was excellent jumping, Tegan!

And never mind the speed - a heavy horse like Teddy needs more speed to jump higher. Thus you did well in letting him go - the result was, that he jumped very smoothly.

With Teddy there is never a "too fast" - the only problem is, when you hold him back too much: because, when he is too slow, he will react with refusals.

Let me praise your jumping position again: You are an excellent show jumper, Tegan!

  • nice job!! :o

  • err, you know you can get spending penalties for going to fast in some courses? and that wasn't really clear lol coz you crossed your tracks, so when your competing make sure you don't do that because theres a high possibility you will be eliminated

  • @missingdreamer

I don't care... It was a freshmans. He wasn't really that fast. The only point he was too fast was between the double. Smaller horses are able to pick up a lot of momentum with out looking too fast because their strides are smaller. He's a massive horse with a massive stride, he needed to pick up a bit of momentum to be able to jump such a height... He had so much fun & so did I. So I don't care about crossing tracks... he was awesome.

  • @Bhukshine i was just pointing it out, for future reference in competition no need to take it and make me sound like a bitch

  • @missingdreamer

How did I make you sound like a bitch?

I simply just gave my answer to "err, you know you can get spending penalties for going to fast in some courses?"

  • @Bhukshine bluntness, starting it with 'I don't care' but yeah whatever, sorry for trying to help,

  • @missingdreamer The only class that I have ever come across that you may lose points for going to fast is Equitation, which this clearly was not. every other class going fast is not a problem, & in any jump off or Top Score round or Championship round you need to go fast to place. AM7 & AM5 rounds (which if this had a jump off it would have been one of those 2) rely on clear fast jump offs to win. Championship generally has 3 rounds in which speed matters, & top score cant be won without speed

  • For not being ridden for a week. That was good riding and good time.

  • Great job Bhukshine, Teddy looked like he was having a blast. You did wise to let him pick the pace.

  • @Kelliee1 Oh, btw, that wasn't crit about going too fast :P Was just saying :)

  • I didn't think you looked too fast. I mean, don't a lot of show jumping classes count time as well as faults?

  • dang you guys were moving! haha you 2 look amazing!
