I don't think it was a radio failure. I have reasons to believe you entered what we pilots call a spin. your aircraft was in a turn therefore an increased angle of attack which first caused a stall, following by a wingdrop due to the innerwing travelling slower and therefore stalling first. your instinct was to pull up immediately and add full power which basically kept the angle of attack over the critical angle .'. stalled and the power flattened your "spin".
If you haven't flown it again already here are a couple suggestions- Keep your speed up a bit while turning. As mentioned before, don't use ailerons until you've mastered flying that TM with rudder/elevator. Don't change any stick positions, just don't touch the ailerons. Good luck!
Thats strange.... this is how mine eventually died. It did this 3 times in 3 days. I don't use that radio gear any more.. the plane is gone.. Only so many times you can rix that upper wing. Anyway.. it landed in a tree and I had to throw sticks at it for an hour before I could get it down. Prior to the "glitches" I loved flying it and I will replace it one day.
@stevecoterell9 I have to respectfully disagree. I have 13 planes- mostly warbirds and an A10 EDF. The one I enjoy flying the most is my brushless Slow Stick. It's totally relaxing and fun to fly right in your face. It'll go straight up until it's out of sight if I let it, and flies for 30 minutes on a 6:1 Razor 400 and old Polyquest 1800 pack. It's an awesome plane!
@jjswimmer2014 He simply stalled this TM400. When moving to a biplane like this after a slow stick people tend to fly their 2nd aircraft too slow like they can the Stick. This plane is not hard to fly but its stall speed is much higher than a slow stick. It is easier to fly with ailerons not just rudder and elev. Remember a biplane has more lift but also more drag so you must fly them a little faster to prevent a stall.
@stevecoterell9 Well, funny thing is I lost an EasyGlider Pro a few months later with the same radio.. and it was out of range issue... So, there may have been an issue. Plane hasn't flown again - yet! :)
Flight looked great till the crash. These guys told you what you did wrong. But to recover from this situation you need to let go of the sticks and let the plane fall and right itself before adding up elevator.
Your attempt at a recovery is what caused it to continue to fall. Been there, done that. Its all a learning curve. Hope you have gotten the nerve up to fly it again. Its a great looking plane
Seems like a wing tip stall - combination of too tight a turn in relation to airspeed. You can see one wing (wings?) drop quickly. Possibly you did not apply alternate aileron due to being unfamiliar with ailerons. Dont think it was radio etc. Suggest you fly it on motor wlevator and rudder only (like a 3 channel). It will fly fine like that. Only later introduce ailerons. Make sure the aileron rate is not too wide. Hope helps.
You might of had a brown out like I did with my slow stick. I had to send in my reciever and transmitter back to specktrum to get it updated. Search Ar6100 brown ,problems on the net. And search Spektrum site as well. Ill send you the link by an email. I dont think they like links on here.
hmm reminds me of mikes maiden flight with our plane! same thing happened except we found that our ailerons had stopped working and the rudder couldnt cope by itself to get the nose up while it was banked. Nice plane though if its foam you should have it back up in no time!
It's a spin....not a stall.

My guess, flew into the sun, lost orientation and crashed. I've done it myself.

On second thought, that wing looks pretty flat, you may need the ailerons to turn.

did u do a radio /reciever check before the flight with aerial down?
It may be a reciever distance fault ... s

@jp00000420 YEs, this is what happened indeed. I've done it too and I did exactly the wrong thing trying to recover it. Gotta love this hobby :)

Looks like a stall to me. How much throttle were you giving it through the bank?
odusurfer 2 years ago 3
Not enough, I think. :( I think you're right.
Cralis1 2 years ago
Tricky one, seemed to be a little tail heavy in flight, i think it was a wing tip stall. If in doubt go plenty nose heavy.

Thanks mate. I've moved stuff around. Haven't tried to re-fly yet, due to fear.. :), but that will change soon. :)
