Hey just a quick question, when you put it all back together, did you have to run another nitrogen cycle? or were you able to just throw all your stored water, corals, inverts etc. back into the tank once you made it to your new place. thanks
wow is a understatement, but as a new reef aquarist Ive realized all the extra effort is just part of the committment to a great Hobby. What a treat too look at your success keep up the good work, and keep posting timelaps they are awsome
wow thats intimidating, Im planning a full ~200gal reef for about a yeear or 8mos from now and I'm scared it will be too much for me to handle moving, especially with another move within another year after that possible... I really want a reef but keep having to move nasty dillema
All tanks that size have a small amount of bowing in their large panels, it's unavoidable. You're talking about an inch of supercongealed liquid holding in 2 megaliters of water here. Tanks have tolerance limits and this tank would be well inside it. It take a bow of barely a millimeter to throw a reflection off like that, so stop freaking out.
well when your talking the whole time... i guess it would tke that long. more people just make it more complicated. it be pissed if that many people were standing around watching.
This is an incredible amount of work. I appreciate your effort putting this on youtube for others. Great work. I used work at Fin & Feather in El Paso, Texas....had a 3,500 gallon tank in the center of the store with giant Amazon goramies in it. Had to clean it out every 4 months due to toxic levels of ammonia. Extremely diffucult to go and some fish in that tank were hostile. If anyone remembers that store- it's long gone now. It used to be on Lee Trevino Drive near Hanks High School.
Damn. All those people coming in and out just standing by the door and just a few helping? I'd boot'em out and lock the door behind'em for a job like this lolol. Did anything die in the process and is the tank healthy today??
Wow, was that a full day?! Impressive, but where's part II, the Setup??! Haha, I thought your cat had jumped in one of the tanks at around 7min... but it was just a plastic bag.
Im with pokeypuppy... Man this thing is like 5-90 gals stacked front to back maybe, Not 75gals. Its a monster tank! So what size/shape you getting next. I know how it is . I got a 90gal and as soon as I got it I wanted at least a 300 !
I want to custom build a cube of about the same size with a center overflow. with the benefit of hindsight, hopefully I will build it better than what I had.
Thats right, I planned this one out quite thoroughly. Ive moved smaller tanks in the 125gallon range in teh past so i had a pretty good what to expect. Getting rid of this tank was my idea so i can move and get a larger one.
yeah babssssssss you loser i bet u were the kid in the playground that boasted that he had better sneakers than everyone................and ur still not grown up
length (72")X Width (48") X Height (36")= 538 Gallons minus overflow and acrylic thickness =~500gallons. The total volume was probably another 200gallon additional.
Thats a 500 gal reef tank stacked full of mature coral colonies. tons of hard and soft corals moved. It took us over 11 hrs of constant work to get the monster moved
ok I guess the tank I made out of ply wood and acrylic was a little bit bigger than I thought I thought I had a 500 gallon my tank has the dimensions I gave you but
It actually comes out to be 1195.93 gallons 300 gallons less than 1500 just to let you know
it worked like u said... i have a structure question, how is/was that tank supported??? is there concrete under that floor?500gals of water alone is over 2tons(4,173LB)... i have a 220, and the tank itself is 400LBs...

There was zero bowing since it was made of 1" acrylic and euro braced. It ws built like a tank.

how come you just didn't use a tube for every bucket instead of doing 1 bucket at a time?

Its a lot easier with a lot less chance of the tube accedentally falling out and flodding the floor.
