  • If you put it full screen you wont see the vevo ad

  • Johnny cash is amazing.

  • johnny cash and waylon jennings..great video

  • I'm going to break the long chain of comments about music's life-fullness, with an experience brought on by this song. Is it just me (I know Johnny is dead and lives on through his soul and music.) but when Johnny appears on the video in the black suit towards the end. It felt like he might have recorded this yesterday, or even just an hour ago. Personally I am amazed at that type of beauty in work.

  • Music died BEFORE 2011.

  • In case no one noticed it, the poor fellow Johnny tries to help is Waylon Jennings.

    Maymore than you ever expected.

  • This song reminds me of the neighborhood 'hobo' Stinky Joe. We didn't call him that. Its what he introduced himself as. Now SJ was really good at math.Really REALLY good at math. But instead of following his passion he chose what he called "the simple life." Playing on his old beat up guitar and helping kids with their homework. One day my Daddy went to go give SJ some supper and found him laying there dead with a big smile. RIP Stinky. The whole neighborhood was at your funeral. So was Mr.Cash.

  • Dzoni, žao mi je što te uživo nisam slušao, ali tvoj duh će vječno ostati živ. Uzdravlje!

  • @mymusicvideos111 yea i know but waylon was beside himself with grief when he heard of the crash

  • RIP Waylon, Johnny, and all the other outlaws, and keep on raisin' hell!

  • This made me sad :( Why did they take both john and waylon from us....

  • johnny stache

  • JOHNNY 'TACHE BOI

  • Nice song. Truly a gem written by Guy Clark, one the world's premier songwriters.

  • I do not watch any of these videos. If I want to watch commercials I will turn on the TV.

  • local jobs hiring careerstartshop.info search now

  • É o Melhor!

  • I don't think the mustache works for him, but I DO think he'd punch me in the face if I told him that.

  • 1900 music got a good kick-start

    1930 music got a soul

1950 music couldn't GET any better

1972 music tastes changed, but still pretty good

1981 music got strange and ill

1994 music got weirder and sicker.

    2007 music died

2011 music is ever rotting in his grave.

a few good artists, however are timeless.

Johny Cash ascends even those artists.

  • @AnonymousVoid

You got that right! Good artists like Johny Cash and Boxcar Willie were TRUE country music artists, unlike the shit they call "country" these days.

  • @AnonymousVoid Music is more prosperous, diverse, beautiful, and innovative than ever before. Turn off the fucking radio and get on the internet looking for it, bigot.

  • Comment removed

  • @AnonymousVoid i disagree about 1981

  • @AnonymousVoid I coudnt agree more :))

  • @AnonymousVoid

I am seriously starting to get really pissed off seeing these kinds of comments... first, I'll say that music has not died, and never will... yes, nowadays we are surrounded by a lot of horrible musicians that use auto-tune and all that shit... I won't deny that... But music has not died... there are still plenty, a LOT of good bands, musicians, etc...

Hell, maybe it has for YOU, but I guess I think different from everyone else... who knows?

  • @fcoutts14 you make a valid point and i have to agree that there are a lot of great artists and musicians out there, but it's very hard to find the good ones. all the great artists and famous people have either lost their touch, or gone with the new generation which is downright horrible.

sure, everyone has their own taste and is entitled to have them, but can't we stick to the old times where songs were meant to tell a story or to entertain rather than to get you moving or make you crazy?

  • We love ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Indeed a great man and talent!

  • Who the fuck cares how old you are? Good for you. You're 5 years old and like the same music that millions of other people around the world like. Congratulations.

  • he thought heaven was just a dallas whore, wat a genius, every song really tells something

  • THE VOICE OF AMERICA---AND MORE

  • I've always felt I was born "before my time" as crazy as that might sound but, I've always had a taste for old music and this is a great example... the story line is a bit crazy but it gives you a sence of "feeling" as in back when music had meaning... Love this song. :)

  • @edsonayala1 god, im 13 and feel the same way. Much rather be living in 1960's or 50's than friggin 2011 with "the bieb" god..... According to my grandmother(shes 94) times are so bad (gang related stuff) its too easy. It might not make much sense but i think it means people look for a job where they can kick there feet up and rest.

  • @edsonayala1 you're not the only one ....

  • @edsonayala1

As much as I love Johnny Cash, I am still partial to Guy Clark's version, the man that wrote the song and makes a cameo in this video (he is seen sweeping the floor).

Johhny Cash once honnored Guy Clark saying: "If I could only write a song like Guy Clark..."

  • @edsonayala1 ...What? That doesn't mean /anything/. Music is beautiful. And every person is spoken to differently by music. It is lovely that you enjoy Johnny Cash- but to discount the music of today as being 'feelingless' simply means you aren't listening hard enough. I could name a number of bands with amazing music who are still creating as I write this. I /hate/ this type of post. (And also the ones with 'I'm this age and I like this.) Its going in the right direction, but its still silly.

  • @edsonayala1 you mean after your time? being before your time means you would have been born before Johnny, thought I'd let you know, no offence

  • @edsonayala1 i'm 17 and I hear ya brother :p

  • @edsonayala1 im 15 and yeah im kind of in the same situation as you :P

  • @edsonayala1 :D i feel like im born in the wrong time, my real one has already passed.. on the same day johnny died :(

  • I feel the picture of Steven Tyler licking a microphone next to the video seems out of place to this song xD

  • Don't get better than this -- made me cry AGAIN though!

  • Thanks for posting : this is wonderful!

  • Im a cash fan but seriously some of you guys need to take it down a notch this songs meh pretty good not the best johhnys the best

  • Is that Waylon Jennings who plays that guy

  • diggin the Cash Stache

  • Glad I grew up with great ones like the Man in Black!!!

  • I love Guy's version of this song. Johnny does a great job, but I keep wishing it was Guy's voice singing it. Sometimes I think it's the first version of a song you hear that you prefer. Since I heard Guy do this first, everyone else's version has to live up to his.

  • I love Cash, but this don't touch Guy Clark's original

  • The most beautiful song ever written ;'(

  • I grew up with oldies right now because i can not stand the new stuff we need to get country back to its roots because bieber is not music johnny is music conway is music willie is music hank is music wayling is music

  • @LordofMusicNHY2 there is an underground country scene look for it ... just search texas music

  • Waylon and Cash. Who will fill their shoes? Nobody comin' down the pike can come close. Jamie Johnson...close, but no cigar. RIP gents.

  • R.I.P. Johnny forever and always the man in black

  • im a blackman i love johnny cash music i have some on my ipod

  • Youtube is racist!!! Blocking good Johnny Cash songs in Sweden, for what!?

GIVE ME A GOOD EXCUSE YOUNOOB! *Oh, I mean YOUTUBE!!

  • @BlackNewUser blame the company... youtube is just doing what it has to do legally...

  • Question: Why are some Johnny Cash songs blocked in some countries because of copyrights? He is dead (God may rest his soul).

  • @rolf807 the record company that owns his music is still alive.

  • story about that man in that song, should teach you to get good education else you end up like that guy.

  • Vevo and their commercials suck big time

  • i dont know about yall but waylon did a hell of a job actin. he was evan sexy as a wino !

  • amazing song rip johnny and june

  • My grandma was so lucky to meet this amazing man.

  • He could pack so much into a song,,,,amazing talent! RIP Mr. Cash!

  • R.i.P Mr Cash il always live by your teaching's

  • Well VEVO you have messed up another good video!!! It has to reload every 2 seconds- PLEASE FIX THIS SO IT WORKS RIGHT-thanks

  • I Love Cash of course, but i should be pointed out that Guy Clark actually wrote this one.....

  • One hell of a moustache, man. On any other man, it would be a crime! But not on The Man.

  • A truely great song, I loved it when I heard it 25 years ago, but to me the real surprise was the appearance of Waylon alongside with Jonnie Cash. Lord, let them feel good in Heaven, they did so much good down here on Earth!

  • Thank you, VEVO, for not doing to this great song what you did to Folesome Prison Blues.

  • I've said it before, and I'll say it again:

    Greatest Country Singer EVER!!!

  • Why cant we grow up with music like this today? When in utah at rubys in it made me feel at home no justin bieber was playing no lady gaga johnny cash. it was amazing.

  • This cover is amazing !!! And Johnny's personal "touch" .... words cannot describe it !!! I am not an American, but I am trully happy that America had such a great man !!! Hang on to such real values ....

  • @stef365 Thank you. We will try.

  • Never lost his voice.amazing Rip johnny cash.

  • Good to see Waymore and John together again. Let 'em roll. We will never look on their likes again.

  • I fuckin hate vevo.

  • i teared up watching this johnny and waylon.....they were and still are REAL PEOPLE 2 great people R.I.P may your music live forever

  • that is Waylon Jennings..A Legend too

  • @Purple5628 Does not the good book say, "Amen, Amen I say unto to you. When you see the Man In Black the end of days is nigh?

  • fuckin luv this tune first time hearin it an ive played it over an over again

  • Johnny 'Tash! Amazing Artist, shame about todays music.

  • Guy Clark gives you a complete short story in less than 4 minutes in this country classic. Incidentally, Guy Clark appears at about the 2:50 mark as the fellow smoking a cigarette and sweeping the floor as Johnny Cash is going through the personal effects of the deceased. Of course the song's hard luck loser is played by Waylon Jennings.

  • I really gotta watch Walk The Line this weekend.

  • Man, I thought that was Harvey Keitel.

  • Why in the hell is Soulja Boy a related video...? and why the hell does it have 100x the views of this...?

  • yeah..Guy Clark song...Johnny does a good job. Take a listen to the original.

  • THIS is a GUY CLARK song

  • WTF HAVE I BEN MISSING !? first time me listening to his music. .

  • waylon jennings is in this clip they were best mates and have lived together as roomates for a while and helped eachother get off drugs

  • I love Cash, but the Guy Clark original is the best.

  • Cash is awesome, but he ruined this song..

  • Well This man is the reason for many of the singers of now. This man is the man in Black and will always be the only one.

    Legends never die

    Heros r remembered

  • is that waylon jennings?

  • @thinkslaughter yes it is!!!!!

  • what the hell? damn i hate the new youtube layout. it's so fucking stupid. the comment box shows the highest rated comments first, and not the most recent? WTF?

  • thanks johnny great song we remember you you are the number 1

  • wonder why vevo disables so many ratings and comments.

  • this is a cool video - it's awesome to see Waylon Jennings in it and the man who wrote this song, Guy Clark, in it. I'll always love Guy's version best though. Nobody can sing it like Guy, imo.

  • true talent. 5/5

  • A great video by a Great singer. Very well put together. Thanks for sharing.

  • look at cashe's sweet stashe!! lols

  • 3:27 is Jim Varney right? the guy who played Ernest? he was in Johnny's other video "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down"

  • That's Waylon playing the "elevator man"

  • im glad he lost the mustache lol

  • Some times, one is lucky to live among Gods. I was lucky. I grew up with Elvis, Sinatra and the greatest of them all, JOHNNY CASH.

  • Amen brother

  • @spamount028 lucky bastard i'm growing up with bieber

  • @jakndaxt3r i know man aint that a bitch

  • @jakndaxt3r and gaga and a whole bunch of other shitty people. Luckily we can always listen to the greats from before our time!

  • @jakndaxt3r Are you kidding...Some of us had to put up with crap like ABBA!

  • @jakndaxt3r AMEN!

  • @jakndaxt3r And with Coldplay, U2, The Editors...

  • @jakndaxt3r

    x2

  • @jakndaxt3r , just go ahead and poke out your eardrums with a rusty nail,it will be more pleasant than listening to beiber

  • @jakndaxt3r If you grew up with Johnny Cash in the 1970s (like I did), you would have also grown up with Jimmy Osmond and the like. There have ALWAYS been teeny boppers. They get a lot of crowds and attention, but soon end up on those "Whatever happened to?" shows.

  • @spamount028 darn, you just made me jaleous, what i would give to have grown up among them...:S I just need to listen to them via youtube, lucky though, that im able to listen to them! They were the greatest.:D

  • @spamount028 your so lucky. i hate no generation i wish i was born and grew up with them

  • @spamount028 born 1994 wish my mum had of messed up at age 16

  • @spamount028 theydied. therefore they are not gods.but were the face and soul of music. Love me some randy travis, dolly patton,JOHNNNY CASH.. I LIVE ON THE ISLANDS OF THE BAHAMAS WHERE COUNTRY IS NOT OUR INTAKE,.............BUT MINE

  • @babyphatdivabitch Johnny Cash never died, he just went home.

  • @spamount028 u know what real music is....now its all computer generated

  • @xNumber2x some people or pretty fucking good at computers though... jealous. Also that's just not true, but keep on believing what your want buddy. I am sure you have heard all music in existence though, so I am probably speakin out my ass.

  • @brownrockykyle yah..well u know what i mean....voice distortion and synths.....its almost never a real sound....just somebody in a room....a band can be 1 person now

  • @xNumber2x There are a lot of groups that don't use that shit and are awesome live. Well at least the shows I have been to.

  • @brownrockykyle im talking about like lady gaga and the main stream rap artists.....

  • @xNumber2x Yeah I see what you mean. Like all the mainstream stuff and every time you turn on your tv, but behind the curtain there are tons of good bands that don't want to be like that. Check out my brothers band that he just started. He is really young along with the rest of the band, but I think they are pretty good. Look up Dillon with the Devil on Facebook bands. ummm there is some other site as well..... oh yeah reverbnation dillon with the devil

  • @brownrockykyle yahh all that justin biebier bullcrap.........riana...la roux......lil wayne......all that crap

  • Great video. This new vevo thing is annoying because it diminishes any comments that were made during the 90,000+view.
