Do my eyes decieve me Mike or was that West Country loco Red. Could it be 34016 Bodmin? Can't remember it in that colour though. Doesn't the harbour look different.....Tim.
@siobhan104 Hi Tim. I am wondering if it was the Duchess of Hamilton on a visit. I love being able to look back in time like this to see how things used to be. If I had any idea I would live here one day I would have taken more in the area! My future house probably wasnt even built till lster that year.
Very nice footage of Watchet. My parents live in West Street, so we get to go down there as much as we can. They have a caravan at Blue Anchor where we stay as often as we can as well. This has to be one of the most beautiful parts of Somerset (but then perhaps I'm biased...?)
Good to see old Watchet...many fond memories of growing up there as a lad and thanks to the internet I can still see her once in a while from distant shores.
having grown up in Germany with the British Army, this was the first place I lived when my father was posted back to the UK. we lived above the dentist on doniford road. later, my aunt lived there, and I really liked Watchet. my granfather had a boat here, and it was here that I really got into what would be my carreer, Navigation Officer. lovely place!
Nice to hear from you! We know that house well as we used to go there for the dentist before he retired. The house is now returning to domestic use only
After the 5 years watchet boat owners association had on concessionary rate for the marina, many local people who had a boat no longer can afford the rates they are now.
More mud then ever, always moaning about it in the marina.
Loves watchet,.
