Way back when, Pleyel pianos had a much lighter touch making most of the tempo markings on Bartok pieces more difficult to adapt to modern pianos. The etudes, for instance, are more difficult than they would be when played on a piano in Bartok's day, and some people feel the tempo should be adjusted accordingly.
A little bit to slow, and too much pedal, and i also think the touch in the beginning is too soft and kind, it should be more furious and colder. Still it is extraordinarily, Lars Roos was one of the greatest pianist of his generation. Today he is almost blind and can't barely see, so it is impressive to play this piece with only "fingermemory" and barely any visual help. I wish that he's live performance of Reubkes amazing sonata will pop up some day. It's said it was a stunning performance!
nice work.

it must be faster, more energetic, several mistakes... clumsy

Too slow, but a very good dynamic contrast

It took me 40 years to discover that Keith Emerson ripped this piece for The Barbarian. Now I am gonna watch more Bartok videos.

The recording hall is not appropriate for this kind of music, IMO there's too much reverb.

Keith Emerson brought me here.

weird slow interpretation

By the way I don't think he used too much pedal,I think it's the acoustic of the place.

I think the church has too much reverb for piano music. Very bad for Bartok's staccato tunes.

not bad tempo at all :)
but theres too much pedal for my taste. Sheet music says seiza ped in ascending octaves for instance :/
