My high school friend's big brother married Olivia...crazy right?...my friends name was Chris and his big brother was Matt...Benson HS portland oregon...only saw Matt a couple times in the hallways..he was a sr. I was a frosh...lucky guy!..Chris was cool too he ended up getting a dancing part in "to live and die in LA" some years after hs...AC Green from the Lakers also was in attendence that year...
Got an mp3 from friends as a gift...They had loaded it with all their music...We kinda like the same stuff. One drizzly cold night, went walking with it for the first time...As I was walking in the mist.....THIS was one of 2 songs by Olivia that was on the mp3. THAT was absolutely one of the best walks I have ever had.........."Magic" in the mist......It was so excellent!!!!!!
@mandeeizzy yes,but i don't remember what comercial,or maybe more than one comercial. it is from a film. zanadu,i think was the name of that film. i believe it was a bit of a bomb. this is a very beautiful little tune though. it's not heavy duty rock, but then again, why does it have to be ?
I loooove this song, it soooo beeeauuuutiful, thank you so much for posting it up here. I am am in love right now just listening to this song, surely it is a little piece of heaven on earth, they like this song up in heaven too, you will just have to take my word for it.
Olivia Newton John's music is better than the "singers' there are today. No one can compete with her. Rihanna (no good),Taylor Swift (definitely no good), Lady Gaga (like her politics and views but her singing is not great),Britney Spears (ugh). I remember this song when it came out in 1980.This was even before John Lennon was assassinated.
@Ferran975 I still cry at the thought of his assassination. I remember that clearly. I was in 6th grade and stayed up that night for some odd reason and the announcement came on the monday night football. I watched some of the news but went to bed. Shocked and surprised. The whole world lost an outspoken, peace loving individual who could have done more but was killed. Karen Carpenter's death was sad as well. She was a great singer and person too!
Amen to that. Those artists you mentioned can't even hold a candle to ONJ. This was when music was music, and creativity was still part of the scene. Just a comment from a happy product of the '70's.
@00hammad great for you & rihanna who is good & but 30 plus yrs later & this song is still the best it was then & now.Rihanna got nothing on Olivia Newton John.Plus lets face it Olivia Newton was hot then & still is.Just saying will Rihanna be like this in 30 yrs?
@rbsvy91368 im 12 years old. i like this music. but i also like all the music u named.
How would you feel if you were for say taylor swift and u saw someone wrote about you that your no good. just think about it before you say it. just because their celeberties doesnt mean they also have feelings.
@11zamalac I'm sure the millions she has earned thus far somehow makes it a-ok for her when someone she does not know, nor is ever likely to meet, disparages her singing ability on youtube. Oh guess what else? She's not a supernatural omnipotent being either. Pop quiz - do you know what professions either Stephen Hawking or Carl Sagan hold (or held)? No? Then perhaps Taylor Swift is not the answer. Wow. Imagine; some singer cannot offer us any fundamental reasons for the existence of humans.
@embojitsu Taylor is my biggest idol THUS (seems like you like that word) she gives socioty plenty because i also know many girls who look up to her. Haha, you think i dumb right? I know who boht of those people are and their preofessions. I even once did a biography about stephen hawking back in the 5th grade. Stop trying to argue with kids. Do you have something better to do. Im really not going to argue with a person who consistantly is saying mean things
@11zamalac Just because im younger, does not make you wiser. Ive been places. Ive experienced things. Ive travled to europe twice and im not even 16. Dont try to fool me. Im done here
Just a simple comment about how you should just be a little more consiterate turned into this. Good bye.
@embojitsu Excuse me. I ask for nothing but for you to think before you type. Just because your behind a computer doesnt mean you can become all tough. But whatever. & you wouldnt use a semi colon after want it would be a comma.
@11zamalac There is sooo much grammatically wrong with what you said, I don't even know what to say about it. Whenever you're old enough to have had (and passed) some English classes, collect your thoughts, come back, and say what you mean. Spend more time on education, and less time on the internet and pop music. Sorry to be so harsh, but this what your generation needs.
Honestly, leave me alone and dont talk to me because i give no fucks at all to what a person behind a computer, probably across the country from me has to say.
I was trying to be nice, but im only nice to people who are nice to me
We were more human back then, more considerate and compassionette with each other. Women were much more feminine. People were socially much more adept, we could sense things in each other somtimes before a word was even spoken. Todays generation knows none of this, its a world very separte from what they know.....it is so incredibly sad.
@Vulcan621 I agree completely... I was arguing this point on fark yesterday in fact. Sometimes people derp so hard over there... I think it stems allot from lack of discipline...

Great art, or, perhaps in this case great craft, only gets better as time passes.
The first time I heard this tune, I thought Stevie Wonder had written it, it struck me as being that good.
31 years later,I still feel the same way.
