  • Hi Doc. Lam, I am 33 and about 23 years ago I had Tinea Capitis. That resulted to a hair-loss patch the size of a quarter. Now the skin is smooth and feels that I have lost sensation in that area of my scalp. Since it has been such a long time since I lost the hair I wanted to known if hair transplant would be the remedy. If not then what are my options as I am very subconscious about it. Thank you!

  • @jawedyusofi to me that sounds very doable with hair restoratino given the limited type of infection you had.

  • hi dr lam, does hair still shed a little if you been on finesteride for 6 months?

  • @hanielroswell1981 it sure can. finasteride does not stop hair loss but slows it down but also can regrow some hair that has become miniaturized.

  • @samlammd hi doc..a few mos ago i started to have a lot of grey hair on the right side of my head (sideburn area) but only few grays on the left side.. 2-3 weeks ago i noticed that my hair got thin, the hairline receeded, the right sideburn area that previously had a lot of grey hair got thinner also yet the left side wasnt as thin as the right.. the whole hair on my head got thinner.. is this diffuse alopecia areata? i would really appreciate the feedback..

  • @dianawapooh sorry that is not enough information. you really need to see someone in person to help you with that, preferably a dermatologist.

  • @samlammd thank you doc for replying.. i have one more question.. can calcium channel blockers for hypertension cause hairloss and can illness due to a bacteria from food cause tellogen effluvium?

  • @dianawapooh typically, i have not heard that problem with calcium channel blockers. illness of any kind but typically more severe can cause telogen effluvium but the delay is typically 3 months after the illness.

  • @samlammd thank you very much. ur videos are great very informative..please continue to upload more videos

  • @dianawapooh will do!

  • Very informative...I have thining hair mostly in the crown...its been getting progrssively worse. The skin looks healthy. I use a wide tooth comb cause my hair falls off easily without heavy pressure....

  • im now 18 yrs old..and have been suffering hair loss since 5 yrs...and i consulted the dermatologist nearly 5 times..at first he tested my hair and said i have fungul infection ..so i used many medicines but it didnt cured...at last he gave me minoxidil solution and im using it since years with many gaps in between now im using this solution continuously from 2 months...and my hair now is losing day by day....will the minoxidil solution help me to regrow my hair...plz tel me a solution....plz

  • you situation sounds complex and being handled by your dermatologist. youtube is not for dispensing medical advice but just outlining general principles of medical care. please ask your dermatologist.

    best,

    sml

  • i have dandruff and scratch at it a lot..will either of these cause hair loss?

  • i don't believe so. you should speak with your dermatologist.

  • I gained my hair back by wearing Alex Chiu's Immortality Rings. My hairline went back to when I was 25. The rings really did help me gain lots of hair back.

  • I have trich and i have one patch, there are little skinny hairs...very few that grew back. the patch is the size of a marble. will it grow back?

  • sorry to hear that. that is something you need to ask your dermatologist about. there are treatments like steroid injections that can help out but you need to talk with a dermatologist to help you.

  • *PATIENTS BEWARE* Dr. Samuel Lam is not entirely honest and using few of his more successful cases to misrepresent himself. He is a phenomenal publicist and is extremely convincing, but don't be fooled. Its one thing to use youtube for entertainment, but another for a medical professional to exaggerate his abilities and knowledge to millions of viewers. If a plastic surgeon makes himself sound too good to be true, he often is. Don't let yourself get hurt.

  • i have that to i have a patch of hair missing in the back of my head and it been 6months and its still has not grown.can anybody who has have this please let me know what to do or has any body had it &it grow back??please pleas please so one tell me...

  • you need to see a dermatologist. when your derm says the condition is burned out and you are a safe candidate for surgery, then i or another hair transplant surgeon can intervene.

  • i have aalopecia areata and i dont know whether its scarring or non but can you please help me out?please i have 1 missing patch of hair on the back of my head please help?

  • the term alopecia areata implies non-scarring but if you just have a patch even circular that you have lost, you need to see a dermatologist to confirm a diagnosis.

  • 9/10 They will grow back. I lost two large patches and they came back better than before.

  • Wow... my hair loss is all over and i was diagnosed with non-scaring Alopecia. None of what he mentioned I have. I am still at a loss as to why my hair is falling out. I should be bald by the Holiday's at this rate. I've tried EVERYTHING. It feels terrible, looks awful... comes out all day long... it's everywhere. I can no longer wear it down. It looks awful up. I'm only 45,this has been going on and off for years, now it's more on than off. Still no help from my docs, or dermatologist.

  • i'm sorry to hear that. what kind of non-scarring alopecia? alopecia areata? there are treatments for that. what exactly was your diagnosis? did you have a biopsy?

  • hey keep your head up, i was diagnosed with alopecia areata non scarring last year at this time, with 10+ spots on my head and now I have 1 spot about a quarter inch long do you take any topical stuff?

  • i am sure that diet and stress can add to the problem. i kindly disagree with you.

  • I didn't hear it like that.
