The reason your getting an open tray error is because your laser is weak not because it needs to be reset. this video is retarded.if you truly want to fix an open tray error use the pot tweak method to adjust the amount of power to your lense. or you could keep pushing it with your finger and hoping "maybe this time."

@TotalTech63 No, it resets, hence the noise when you turn your xbox, the whir noise is the laser resetting.. your not supposed to keep disks in your xbox when you turn it off, therefore when you turn it on, the laser cant reset because the disk is in the way. Its not retarded, I did the research.

This worked for me for 2 times then stopped. Another trick is to drop ur xbox onto the button side from about 2inches. Or always exit into the dashboard after playing before turning xbox of, u will never get it again :)

Ok so I finally fix my open tray problem and a couple days ago my power box broke...it shows the yellow light once I unplug it and plug it back in but when I try to turn it on the light goes red...I just don't have good luck at all with 360 -_-

Didnt work for me, although I think it could, I can hear the noise it makes then when I put the actual disk in it makes 2 scratching noises then dosent even attempt to read the xbox, just goes straight back to 'Open Tray'. I am tempted to headbut it..

If anyone else has this problem and this doesn't work for them, try tipping your Xbox forwards while its trying to read the disk, this works for me every time and I even gave my friends boners by showing them how it's done to his Xbox because he has the same problem.

@kingb013 This shit screwed up my disc tray, the professional way is better. You obvously cant take the time to look inside the thing and make some adjustments to get it working again. I escaped RROD this way, and especaily for this. If you want to take the risk of screwing it up, go ahead and try. My older brother goes to a tech school and has taught me alot of things about 360 repairs, and this is not the garanteed way of this. I will not care what else you have to say.

@vDEATHxSTROKEv Actually I did take the time to look inside, opening it up and therefore breaking the seal to my xbox, this will not break the tray, it works even opening it normally and closing it with the controller, theres no way it will break the tray, either you pushed it to hard, or at the wrong direction. If the professonial way is better for you fair enough, but it works fine for me this way and has for two years as well as plenty of others.

I usually just close the tray normally with no disk in a few times then put the disk in, but generally closing the tray with no disk fixes it.
