  • Dude at Amazon I bought the same light but the difference between mine and yours is that my controller has more options and is longer and my strip is 16 ft long. I paid 32 bucks for it. You got ripped off :'c oh and I can change the speed of the strobe and the color shifting. You should check it out.

  • @crackersXnXcheese Dude, this video was made well over a year and a half ago when these were way more expensive.

  • Can you hook this up to a battery?

  • A 12 volt source, yes... so long as it can produce at least 1 amp. (ie a car battery or another 12v battery with decent amperage ability) - however you will have to fashion a wire with a DC barrel connector at one end (since that's what the control unit accepts for power).

  • I need to cut them but only find connectors for the 1cm width strip which is the non waterproof

When you cut them can you remove the silicon that is outside so as to use the 1cm connectors?

I believe the waterproof version is 1,4cm width cause of the extra silicon outside

Can i just remove it ?

  • i bought some but they didnt come with power supply, and i hooked up to car battery just turn on blue. nothing else, could i use a 18volt laptop powersupply to power them why do they just stay blue??? and i have remotes but they dont do anything

  • Do they sell the 12VDC power source on that website? Cant seem to find it.

  • @MemyLovesYOU Item 29773 (USA plug)

  • @MyRedneckLife Is that one good for the 5M one? If so, thanks :) !

  • @MemyLovesYOU Nope, that one only provides 1 Amp which is enough for 1 meter. For the 5M you need something that can supply 12v at 5 amps which I would normally recommend item 35168 for. Your next best thing would be item 47710 but that's a bit pricy and requires additional wiring. Also if you have any old PC power supplies laying about they put out 12v and will work with these strips vey easily.

  • Sorry for bothering you again , but how long did day last you since you bought them ??

  • @AlexSkateTeam They lasted for several months - unfortunately they died due to my own carelessness - I left them on the floor and accidently rolled over them with my computer chair!!

  • I'm going to be getting these and putting them on the car, the only problem I think I'll come across will be waterproofing the control panel, I may just cut the connection and run that control module into the car somewhere, on ebay theres an RF controller, which may work better from distances, rather than IR.

  • nice review man!! just few questions, can you just paste it to the wall? and what about angles? im planing to use it in my room around the walls,so im not sure which to take,3528 or 5050,is the 1st one to small? tnx in advance! :)

  • @pappo7 5050 and 3528 actually refer to the package size for the individual SMD led modules - 5.0x5.0mm and 3.5x2.8mm respectively. But you probably DO NOT want 3528 if you are looking for multicolor mixing LEDs since 3528 lights only come in single colors. Any advertised 'RGB' strip using 3528 modules is just going to have one red module, one green module, one blue module repeating. The 5050 have a red/green/blue emitter inside the chip itself which is how they produce gradient colors.

  • Great Video. I will buy now because you =D. Do you know if the sku 35169 will work with de 5meter? Thanks! Cheers from Brazil

  • @Geonnitous Electrically that should work great with the 5M long spool, but be aware that it has the european style AC plug on it.

  • @MyRedneckLife I'm worried about the output plug, because I think this item is to connect in notebooks (larger imput, 5mm). Do you know the size of your? Thank you for the help

  • @Geonnitous I'm not sure of the exact size but looking at it here beside me it looks pretty close - I don't have a ruler handy to examine it. However you can also look at the connector on the 1A supply I linked in the description - there is a good close up picture of it and it sure looks like a 5mm connector.

  • @MyRedneckLife Thanks for the help. I found two models in Dealextreme. What do you suggest? SKU 15993 or 94978?

  • @Geonnitous Unless you are comfortable making your own cables I would suggest 15993. 94978 is a great power supply but you would have to hard wire in an AC power cord as well as a DC power cord with a barrel connector on one end to fit into the jack on the RGB controller.

  • I FINALLY updated this video with information on where to get these again. Popbuying is now lightake but the item numbers listed are still the exact same. Prices have gone down somewhat too, instead of $28 they are now about $25 - again with free shipping. And PLEASE don't bother replying saying you got these for $9 somewhere - what YOU got was probably the wimpy ass non waterproof 30/led version.

  • @Janekim2011 Can you help me out i have a led lights but for some reason not all the color work i only get blue and green

  • @MrBlackcat2587 That problem could be caused by many things - a broken connection somewhere on the strip, a broken connector between the strip and the controller, or a broken or malfunctioning controller module. If you received the unit this way I would contact the vendor and ask for a replacement.

  • @MrBlackcat2587

i think there is something wrong with your remote controller.just replace one is ok.

  • i use to get all the color but for some reason it stop it works with the 2 colors i get

  • I bought one on ebay is ok the thing it hate is that it does not get all the colors i only have green and blue

  • i want to put them into my grill of my car. is there a way to not use the cords or are the cords required.

  • @tennisace2323 The RGB control unit runs off 12V DC so you could wire them up for car use with little difficulty.

  • Thank you sir , your are a gentleman!... a great demo ... I have ordered 2x3m and 1x2m with psu's.

  • Hi. Is it possible to connect more strips to that one strip? Thanks.

  • @FireAlarmTech96 Yes, although since this one was weatherproofed with a rubber jacket you would have to remove it from that rubber (or at least cut the end of the rubber jacket off to get at the contacts on the end of the strip). You would also have to make additional provisions for power since as you add more strips the amperage requirement goes up.

  • i have these. and i have them plugged in and they light up. but i cant get the remote to work. even with a new battery. please help if you can

  • My store has LED Strip lighting for $29.99, single color waterproof with adhesive tape on the back. We also have RGB strips, and a variety of rope lights and auto lighting. Its called lightemupleds . com

  • hi, can i ask you how do you stick that thing on something (with bluetack or tape or something ??? ) and will it be good effect if ill put the string at the back of my TV ???

  • @AlexSkateTeam Well the one in this video is enclosed in a rubber sleeve and is designed for indoor/outdoor/automotive applications - but they do make versions that have 3M double sided tape on the backside. Also you could use sticky tape or zip ties... and yes, lots of people use these for bias lighting for their flat panel TVs or projection screens.

  • @MyRedneckLife thanx man )))

  • @AlexSkateTeam It doesn't matter to stick at the back of your TV. It also can stick at the bottom of your car, stair decorating, ceiling decorating and kitchen decorating.

Does somebody need purchasing LED strip light, call me, let's talk the detail.MSN:janekimyan@hotmail.com,Skype:janekimyan

  • @Janekim2011 yeah i know that thanks its just im 16 and dont have a car but in future i will i ordered my led already sorry :)

  • Hey does anyone know if the "dream" LED lights are different or just a different controller box? I really would like some of those effects (chasing effect and changing eah bulb differnt colors)??

  • @artie2099 They are different, the circuitry for them is quite a bit more complex since they allow for color movement throughout the length of the ribbon... that's also why they are harder to find and quite a bit more expensive. And yes, I like them too.. I'd kill for a set. :-)

  • @MyRedneckLife ah damn :( i was hoping a different controller would make mine do that. theyre amazing!

  • And, i have the 300 LED strip. 49.99 on ebay (new, not used) and shippd to me in THREE DAYS from a us seller. I only found one US seller and he charged 49.99 instead of the same lights (but from Hong Kong) for 22.00, but i dont mind paying extra for a us seller.

  • YOU CAN ADJUST THE SPEED OF THE STROBE/FLASH!!! once in that mode, press the brightness + and - (up and down at top left) and it will change.

  • Thanks for your Video, I really appreciate product tests of China products!

They are (most time) fucking great, but you can't find reliable informations about them in the Internet.

  • ebay.co.uk/itm/170703823650?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649, try this one guys, you won't get disappointed.

  • It is an interesting thing, and I'm glad that I passed by your channel video, so thanks for sharing it with us.

Nevertheless, I was going to ask you if this waterproof LED lights works for cars, but I have read up there, and one of your visitors have asked the same question, and you answered him already :).

Take care and may God bless you and keep in safe.

    Best wishes

  • Would you say if i got a 2 meter light stip comes with 60 LEDS is that good or should i go for something with more LEDS?

  • @MyRedneckLife Hey, I have the same strip and just to let you know you can control the speed of how fast/slow the lights change here's how:

When your strip is on fade/strobe etc. Just use the brightness buttons and hold them down this will change the speed of it. (Just press the button just as you would if you were changing the brightness) :D

  • Dud website

  • the website doesnt work O.o

  • You will find that most all LED strips that come out with the multi color button remote will fail usually within the first few hours of use.

I've had several strips reach temperatures above 125 degrees which is not normal for an LED.

All of them were bought off eBay. If you spend the extra money, and the good ones do cost considerably more, they will last forever. They have properly designed controller systems that don't over drive the diodes.

  • nice vid ;)

can you put it in your car ? its 12 volts u say and car battery is 12 volts

    so is it possible ?

  • @frankcola20081993 Yes, in fact lots of people use these types of lights in their cars - these particular lights can even be used outside/under the car since they are weatherproofed.

  • @frankcola20081993

yeah, you can put it on your car, battery with 12volt is ok.

  • Can you cut these into pieces and connect them via a wire or something else? To lengthen distance?

  • @jaock90 Yes, you can cut them at any junction point along the strip and then use wires to connect the segments.

  • ebay sells 5m lengths for 44 bucks the same exact thing I just bought one check it out. I would post a link but thanks to stupid youtube It's not allowed.

  • @tylerlavite The ones you are seeing on ebay have less LEDs, exactly half as many in fact. Although you can get 5M lengths of the type in this video for around $60.

  • @MyRedneckLife can i use this with Music? i want to use this as a Visualizer for when i put on music.

  • Where i can buy ? I want to be exactly like in this video

  • @KingOfPopChannel Ebay, Dealxtreme

  • can u add on more strips?

  • @GunRunner88X Yes, with this particular cheap-o LED controller you could add 4 more strips for a total of 5 (the control unit has a limit of 5 amps).

  • @MyRedneckLife

Hey mate how do you connect four together. do they have to go end to end or can i have four working off the same receiver in separate ports or something?

  • @jimmymox I believe they have to be wires in series (end-to-end), wiring them in parallel would would have less than desirable (and possibly destructive) results.

  • @MyRedneckLife Thanks for the reply its appreciated
