Good job mom! As the parent of a child with cochlear implants, I know how persistent, consistent, and repetitive we have to be to give our children spoken language. Drew is very lucky to have received his implant so young and he is so lucky that you are his mom, I can tell you are doing your job well! My daughter was 26 months old, and is now in mainstream 3rd grade and is an honor roll student! Language, language, language! That is my life! What a miracle!
Activation has gone well. I just rewatched this video and can hear him now speak.. It great to see your son doing so well with the CI. pre surgery I was profoundly deaf in both ears. Now since the CI I hear very well . 250 hz at 20 DB and 10-15 DB across the board.
@BigKittyVideos We definitely did not do this all ourselves. Drew has had various types of therapy since he was only a couple months old. Sure, we made sure to always talk to him and played games, etc...but it took a lot of people's love and effort to help him be where he is. Check out some of his other videos and you can see some of the therapy.
Beautiful.. Even tho I cannot hear his voice I can lipread him when he is speaking, I was implanted 7-16-10 I go in for activation soon. Its quite a miracle to bring sound to those who never would have had access to it 30 yrs ago. I am 33 and late deafend. Thank god for scientists and engineers!!!
Wow, your son says more than my 18-month-old sister, and her hearing's fine! He's such a cutie. :) I love it when you ask him for the duck. "Can Mommy have the duck?" "No!" Congratulations on your little miracle!
@monny287 Thank you, monny287. Mom, dad and grandparents, with help of therapists have all worked hard to help Drew. Drew has been a great student and loves all of it!
hallmeg83 you are a selfish little brat. If you don't have anything constructive to say don't say anything at all. You need to learn to be happy for others.
@hallmeg83 Your parents should have used birth control the month you were concieved.... You are a waste of flesh and brain matter.... The fact that you exist makes me sick to my stomach..............
@Lucas121242 the lights blink and flash red to indicate that the implant is on and working. This way, parents notice that if it is not flashing red, it may not be working properly.
oh god! great! im argentinian, i dont speak english very well. my nephew have one implant at 9 months old. now he have 10 years old and he is a great kid, listenin all and speakin good!
Wow, he is doing brilliant. My daughter is 16 months and had bilateral surgery at 11 months and i can only hope she does this well. Its the best feeling ever knowing your child now has access to a hearing world.
i don`t know. it`s baby very good with CI? I think, sign langnuage can your life very munch than only CI. Sorry. I have CI too. He help me not very good...with sign langnuage is my God. I would like your learn of sign langnuage. greetz cive (ex CI)
