The end of an era. Johnny Olson is remembered by us old geezers and game show fans but Rod Roddy is probably most associated with announcing TPIR. It sure was sad when he retired due to cancer. Thank you very much for sharing this historic episode with us. I used to enjoy seeing Rod Roddy and before him Johnny Olson appear in the Showcase skits too.
Now I think she's a NY State road worker!

It will be sad when Bob Barker passes in the future. But that may not be for another 12 years or so.

Does anyone know the taping date?
Johnny Olson's last show was taped on October 2, 1985, just ten days before his death.

It was no later than August 2003, because his Wikipedia entry says he was in the hospital for his last two months.

You know, it might just be me, but this really doesn't sound like Rod to me. Especially at the beginning.

The combination of a low quality VHS taping and being Rods final days on earth.

I was in 7th grade when Rod passed on. It's been over 5 years! It seems like just yesterday.

And I was in the 9th Grade when I was told, by one of my friends, that Rod had passed away. And that took me by surprise!
May the Lord bless Rod in every special way!

I know. I'm still saddened. Damn, cancer.

Amen to that brother. Rod was the man on the TPIR. It's a shame that he passed away. RIP Rod.
