@intrepidme97 Everyone has different opinion, no need to be rude. :) Although I find Natalie really pretty, just look at this beautiful big bright eyes. She was lovely. :)

@drmorb Sorry for having my own opinion , I guess being childish as you are that must have offended you ! And who am I ... You bet I´m way better than the drunk actresss you adore !
@atiboy1 You're an idiot. She died because she was drunk and hopping around on boats. I spent my life around boats and Avalon, Catalina. Avalon is very bouncy because its not a bay, not even a cove really, its all out in the open with a lot of boats trying to get up close to the shore. Combine that with the darkness and winds at night very easy to fall in if you're drunk. Much harder to actually push someone in because you wouldn't have the balance.

It's pure speculation on what may or may not have happened with Natalie Wood's death in 1981. It just seems rather odd that the mystery was suddenly reopened, right around the time the former captain of the ship had published a book.
@mythid12 well, it was published 2 years ago... the timing has to do with it being the same week she died on the 30th anniversary... honestly, I think it's just a coincidence... dude wrote a book b/c he has been ignored constantly throughout the decade and thought the book would be a last ditched effort to get official attention... it worked
Natalie Wood was a living doll and a talented actress. So sad that 30 years later we have to hear that the case is being opened by what I think are some greedy people. You think . . Thank you EDH1712 for this great vintage footage.
I remember loving this show. The panel were so very clever.
@irismcooper I think you should know more about her. Then you would realize her "accident" was made up and that she got killed by Robert Wagner. And at the end of the day, that's why the case is reopened.
Do you think that he killed her on purpose? It will always be a mystery just like with Marilyn Monroe the night she died and her association with Peter Lawford and the Kennedy's.
@AdrianWillis You're stupid.
I read somewhere that she did not like her looks, she did not think she was pretty but that is so not true. Sorry that she died so young, we miss you Natalie.
One of a few child stars that made it big. Elizabeth Taylor and Monty Cliff being two others, but Cliff was a stage star. I cannot think of anyone else at the moment.
Bennett's sons were both Harvard grads. I think at this time, his youngest son was a student there, along with Arlene's son. That's why Arlene and Bennett were well aware of her appearance at Harvard.
Lol, for some reason that really cracks me up everytime!!! I LOVE Natalie :) Her death was such a tragedy. She probably would still be with us today...
@SoCalGal52 She was probably thinking she was the height of fashion and for the time period, 1965-66, she would've been. But in retrospect, it really is a hideous design.
@idster7 You're loling at what I said? So a person can't criticize what another person is wearing? Really? Then I guess fashion critics and fashion magazine editors shouldn't have those jobs? How nonhuman and unrealistic u r. You probably have a Coexist bumper sticker on your car, right Mr. or Ms. PC? If I want to criticize her dress, I will. If I want to question what and why someone is wearing something, I will. I'm sure ppl do the same thing to me. I'm sooo materialistic & undynamic.
We talk of certain things being 'of the ages'. She is BEYOND the ages, utterly spellbinding and hopelessly captivating to idiots like me. I just feel I was born at a the wrong time, because even knowing there was a film star as cool and as beautiful as her would be enough. She talked about the presence of Marilyn Monroe, that as a viewer you wanted her to be 'ok' in the end. That's how I feel about Natalie, I hate the conspiracies with her death and just wish she was all right, somehow.
Natalie, or Natasha as she reportedly preferred, is the most beautiful, captivating woman I have ever seen. She was a gifted actress who survived a cloying, stage-manager mother and grew up in the Hollywood star system, and then branched out later in her career to play some very memorable roles and expand her range as an actress. She is elegant, graceful, likeable, and gorgeous. There will never be another actress quite like her. I wish I could've known her personally, I'll bet she was fabulous.
Oh, darn, after all these years .... after all these years! ...still hopelessly in love with Natalie Wood.My big sister should never have taken me to see Rebel Without a Cause.
@JeffersonDinedAlone I heard she did know how to swim. But she was very small (5'), had been drinking, it was winter and there was heavy rain and wind, plus the ocean was freezing.
Forgot to mention in discussing Natalie's Russian birth name of Natasha, that her sister Lana also had a very Russian birth name. Just like a very pretty Russian woman I recently met who introduced herself to me as Lana, Natalie's younger sister was born Svetlana. When I said to this woman who called herself Lana, that perhaps I should call her Svet, she replied, ah you know, and told me that was what her father used to call her.
@tismurdis You stole the comment I was going to make. Indeed she was born Natasha Gurdin, the daughter of Russian immigrants. I had also heard that she was related to Jacob Gurdin the Russian Jewish playwright, though I'm not sure on that. Interesting that panelist Peter Ustinov, an Englishman, is also of Russian heritage, as am I. I always thought she was a funny looking kid on screen, but she sure turned out great, the opposite of most child actors in Hollywood.
Case of Natalie's untimely death due to "unfortunate accident “being re-opened 30 yrs. later hm, hopefully, long-awaited justice will erupt from the smoldering fire finally setting her free...
@fnj6 ... Many people are lazy in school, and may not come out much smarter than they were when they entered a certain level of schooling. It's those who strive to learn and teach and grow from what they know--regardless of economic background--who make an education something to be valued.
@fnj6 I beg to differ. Education is most certainly a virtue. Maybe not all libraries can afford books, but everyone must still go through schooling. What makes it a virtue is whether or not you use the basics you're taught in life, and use it to inspire yourself to continue teaching yourself and learning about the world around you. ...

A remarkable actress and one of the so many with a sad life start to end. Her death was particularly poignant as he had a lifelong fear of drowning. Many people feel she had yet to reach the height of her career and as an older character actress would make her biggest mark and inevitably win an Oscar. She was miscast terribly in "West Side Story" and yet turned in a beautiful and distinctive portrayal of Maria, getting an Oscar nomination and much respect.
@weightfeather1 That's what I plan on doing! I've been cultivating my skills as an artist since I will a little girl. I'm going to be the next great director.
Natalie was born in Frisco, but was the daughter of Russian immigrant parents and known as Natasha Gurdin early on. Ustinov was British, but also of Russian heritage. Natalie was a funny looking kid who seemed to get better looking as she aged, the opposite of most child actors.

Which leads to the age old question in hollywood, if her last name was "wood" why didn't she float?

@NYVoice That's an understatement. There are no superlatives that can rise to a proper description of this perfect beauty.

peter ustinov is so funny....
cafra1707 1 year ago
Natalie was born in Frisco, but was the daughter of Russian immigrant parents and known as Natasha Gurdin early on. Ustinov was British, but also of Russian heritage. Natalie was a funny looking kid who seemed to get better looking as she aged, the opposite of most child actors.
