I'm 17, and dammit I feel like I had a past life who was there at woodstock 1969. Every time I see a woodstock video, it seems so fucking familiar, NO it FEELS so fucking familiar.
@MrGorillerz Dude i'm 17 too and I feel the same way. My parents took me to the 40th anniversary and my life was changed. This song I think defines that generation. I wish our generation could be a little different, I think we're getting there though.
I had the honor of meeting Ritchie several times at performances I attended with my wife, to the point where I felt I got to know him personally. He is such a gentleman and good person. He spent alot of time with us at the end of his concerts. He remembered us the last time we saw him. I just love the man!
it was about love, about the need to hear our music, in our way - no constraints, letting us be ourselves and feeling it and living it and Richie put it the way the Crerator intended...like the pilgrims when they first came to this country. FREEDOM. The FREEDOM to throw down the irreverent shackles of those before us and to let us THINK for OURSELVES. It is as imporant today as it was in 69. Think about it!
lets get 500000 people. some of the best music of this generation. and the vibe of freedom. :) oh dont forget the psychadelics. no ecstasy. no chemicals. even if they are good. all natural naked open minded festival. lets go.
Along with the Beatles opening for Roy Orbison, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience opening for the Monkeys, this is one of the greatest opening acts of the 20th century.
man, you release, and still others are sponsoring a release, that magic word, "freedom" never go out of fashion, and the wonderful characters that magnify the project and, today, are as free as their long ages of freedom. .
i mean you should always support what your generation is putting out...because like it or not you will be looked at as the world wants to anyway...there is still good music being put out you just have to find it
it makes me sad that my young ass never got the chance to witness real music in its prime... they say hip-hop is dead.... shit All Music is pretty much dead..
Don't feel bad. I missed this by about 2 years but on the other side of the coin I missed the US draft by one year. I did listen to this on the radio from where I lived in N Y City.
music has lost it's emotion for the most part. Most of the stupid shit you here today consists of wanting money sex and fame. Fuck 2009, long live 1969
@Nenshati19 Yes that is true for most pop music today in USA however look a folk music or stuff like 5 for fighting they actually tell stories about peoples lives.
The guy playing drums (I think) at :50 looks just like the guy from Outkast. And the guy looking for tabs, good luck, Havens uses weird tunings and frets with his thumb.
B minor thoughout "Freedom" and "Sometimes I feel like a motherless child" And then F sharp minor "A long..." then F sharp "Way...from my home" then back to B minor.
richie havens was unknown and very poor when he performed at woodstock.
