but as for the fourth gen, it really depends what you're looking for. there are some cases that don't offer a lot of protection that keep the ipod super slim. however, the otterbox will ensure that your ipod doesn't break, but will add some bulk. so if you're looking for sleekness, get a super slim case. if you're looking for a lasting device, i'd go with the otterbox.
@christalbabyboo00 the 2nd gen ipod is definitely cheaper, but the new 4th gen is more than worth the higher price. but then again, it depends on what you're looking for.
