Yes, Vixia is the brand name, the camera is a Canon Vixia HV30.

Forgive my ignorance, but why do some videos in widescreen format appear in a smaller window surrounded on all sides by black borders, while some other ones extend to all four sides of the widescreen window? Is this something YouTube does to videos when they are uploaded, or is this an effect people are applying to their videos?

He probably didn't. HV30s are very impressive for their price. No adapters really improve image quality. The only thing you can really do for that is buy different lenses.

what exactly will a 35 mm adapter do...i'm new the cameras and add-ons...and what exactly will a lense do? which would be better and what r the price ranges on them. Thx in advance. I'm thinking of getting this camera in about 1 mont...u think its worth it? I really do want it to look pro.

I don't have any adaptor, however, there is some color correction done with Vegas and/or magic bullet
