@rorrt and your obliged to that opinion but can I just say and this aint supposed to be bitchy to you or anything but if you don't like him then don't watch a video about him, where he isn't trying to be funny he is just stating his opinion on certain matters in our media crazed society and how we should focus on other matters
:) I personally think Tim is a really inspiring person and that his views on this are completely correct on how our media fuels rage to distract people from the real worl
@ass640 Frankie Boyle is pretty bad, but there are some famous American comics that are soooooo much worse. Bill Burr, Douge Stanhope, Jim Norton the radio show guys Opie and Anthony (that would blow Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand out of the water), even Louis Ck equals Frankie
@WerdnaLlewen1993 he has an institution with a particularly high rate of pedophilia. the point is that tim thinks that pedophiles are motherfuckers regardless of their religion.
I represent the silent majority here and I've just spoken to the rest and they say it's OK for me to speak now about this. We don't care about Monggate. Let them eat cake
@N64isgreat See your putting words into my mouth. If you like ricky gerasis that up to you,but i am just saying i think hes overated. Is it against the law to do so.
he's alright and stuff and as a girl i probably wouldn't kick him out of bed but who the fuck thought of breeding russell brand and bill bailey in the first place?
@ursie1986 "breeding russell brand and bill bailey" HAHAHA! That's a perfect description of him, both in general looks and the fact that minchin does musical comedy like Bill Bailey. Genius. Although, it should be noted that Minchin has been on the scene longer than Brand so I think we can hardly accuse him of pinching Brand's style :p still, i got a laugh out of that!
@fleebness Hmm, I know. The very idea of a comedian saying something about themselves that isn't true, just to get a laugh, is something my tiny mind can not compute either.
@LondonIrishRover I appreciate the sarcasm, but for the particular video in mind (which I obviously remembered poorly), it didn't seem as if he was just trying to get laugh about such a claim.
@fleebness Actually he doesn't. At all. He says in the song is that he's completely straight, but then makes a joke on the concept of those sick 'camps' in the US where they claim to "cure" homosexuality - by wondering if they can do the same for him but in reverse, to make the dream of '5 poofs and 2 pianos' happen :)
@FullMetalAlcohol Er... nice to meet you, too. I hope you'll have a speedy recovery from your keyboard-bound Tourettes syndrome symptoms, as I'm sure it must be terribly limiting.
I think you misunderstood Tim's final comment, which was a dig at the media and not a defence of the remark. True, it doesn't compare to actual human suffering on a grand scale, but why should it? Very few newsworthy stories do.
It was a media storm in a teacup but then RG began it and fuelled it with his own tweets - and so must take equal blame, and in hindsight I bet he would agree.
Having made the remark he should have said he didn't mean it that way and then shut the fuck up.
the thing that annoys me is that Ricky has only been using "offensive" comedy since he made it big in America and started doing shows like Science, and the Golden Globes. At the start of his career he was cleverly pushing the boundaries and misconceptions of political correctness and social awkwardness. Now he just wants to "offend" his celebrity mates and insult fat people. I can't help but feel like this isn't the Gervais i loved during The Office and Extras...
People in America use "retard" all the time...it's the same thing, it doesn't mean a reference to someone 'mentally challenged,' it means the exact definition of the word. Is it un-PC? Maybe.....but who fucking cares. Like other people have said, there are millions more worse things going on in the world that could use some fucking media attention beside a possible un-PC word use by a comedian who is known for being somewhat 'offensive.' Big shmeal.
@MssPaute I'm from the US, and agree, I'd love to see Frankie Boyle or Jimmy Carr live, but I don't think they'd draw enough of a fanbase, most of my countrymen are just far too easily offended, guess I'll have to make a trip abroad.
both comedians are very funny

I don't even really like his explanation of how he performs offence in comedy. Or even comedians that make novelty songs that they use in their show.
Its as Tom Wilson says, its a "you problem". But i can't get with it, i just don't find him funny.
But i do like Ricky Gervais, so i'm happy!

Theres your problem. If you compare every profession, and every person from every profession to me.
Then you are putting unrealistic expectations that, i can't be the best comedian, the best painter, the best heart surgeon, and so on.
Indecently, i am the best heart surgeon ever!
