  • both comedians are very funny

  • @rorrt and your obliged to that opinion but can I just say and this aint supposed to be bitchy to you or anything but if you don't like him then don't watch a video about him, where he isn't trying to be funny he is just stating his opinion on certain matters in our media crazed society and how we should focus on other matters

:) I personally think Tim is a really inspiring person and that his views on this are completely correct on how our media fuels rage to distract people from the real worl

  • @Wilsterjj14

I don't even really like his explanation of how he performs offence in comedy. Or even comedians that make novelty songs that they use in their show.

Its as Tom Wilson says, its a "you problem". But i can't get with it, i just don't find him funny.

But i do like Ricky Gervais, so i'm happy!

  • I don't think Tim Minchin is very funny.

  • @rorrt Funnier than you

  • @range567W

Theres your problem. If you compare every profession, and every person from every profession to me.

Then you are putting unrealistic expectations that, i can't be the best comedian, the best painter, the best heart surgeon, and so on.

Indecently, i am the best heart surgeon ever!

  • @rorrt How are you indecent, do you eat the patients hearts?

  • @ShoeLube

    Haha, i meant "Incidentally".

I have considered it, but i might lose my job.

  • Man, this guy was really deep.

  • Lets release Frankie Boyles Tramadol nights in america, maybe this whole gervais thing will disappear!

  • @ass640 Frankie Boyle is pretty bad, but there are some famous American comics that are soooooo much worse. Bill Burr, Douge Stanhope, Jim Norton the radio show guys Opie and Anthony (that would blow Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand out of the water), even Louis Ck equals Frankie

  • Tim Minchin isn't gay. He has a wife and children. And even if he was, why does it matter if he is or not, or if he is or not?

  • Exactly, "whatever". Get over it.

  • His ending line really punches home the reason why I dislike the way the "civilised" world reacts the wrong way about almost everything.

  • moooong

    you just need lips

  • He called the Pope a motherfucker?!?!

  • @WerdnaLlewen1993 never mind the rest of the explanation, though, right?

  • @WerdnaLlewen1993 Listen to 'The Pope Song' by Tim and you'll get it

  • @WerdnaLlewen1993 he has an institution with a particularly high rate of pedophilia. the point is that tim thinks that pedophiles are motherfuckers regardless of their religion.

  • @WerdnaLlewen1993 Yep, Didn't you know that the pope is a fucking fucker?

  • I represent the silent majority here and I've just spoken to the rest and they say it's OK for me to speak now about this. We don't care about Monggate. Let them eat cake

  • ooohh tim you're so clever, i love you. See, it's possible to have long hair and say fuck and be clever. FUCK THE SYSTEM.

  • *Offense.

  • @Vmanonfire British, Australian, Kiwi, Canadian etc, all use the spelling in the title

if you're American, guess what, you're the only ones who use it the way you do ;)

  • @Vmanonfire *in America.. actually, only America..

  • some people need to man the fuck up and let comedians be comedians

  • Hi vocabulary... is perfect.

  • I never rated Rickey Gervais... then I actually watched him and he is a comedy genius!

  • Ricky Gervais is so overated it a joke.I just dont find him funny at all.

  • @musspuss

Its a good job hes in the business where they use a lot of jokes then....

  • @musspuss so we should rate things according to whether or not you find them funny?

  • @N64isgreat See your putting words into my mouth. If you like ricky gerasis that up to you,but i am just saying i think hes overated. Is it against the law to do so.

  • he's alright and stuff and as a girl i probably wouldn't kick him out of bed but who the fuck thought of breeding russell brand and bill bailey in the first place?

  • @ursie1986 LOL OMGOMGOMGOMG LOLOLOL

  • @ursie1986 "breeding russell brand and bill bailey" HAHAHA! That's a perfect description of him, both in general looks and the fact that minchin does musical comedy like Bill Bailey. Genius. Although, it should be noted that Minchin has been on the scene longer than Brand so I think we can hardly accuse him of pinching Brand's style :p still, i got a laugh out of that!

  • @ursie1986

he is gay dear you have no hope :o)

  • @HappyandAtheist

Tim Minchin is heterosexually married with children. If that defines gay for you.

  • @sonofism Hmm... I wonder why, then, Mr. Minchin claimed to be gay during his performance of Five Poofs And Two Pianos.

  • @fleebness Hmm, I know. The very idea of a comedian saying something about themselves that isn't true, just to get a laugh, is something my tiny mind can not compute either.

  • @LondonIrishRover I appreciate the sarcasm, but for the particular video in mind (which I obviously remembered poorly), it didn't seem as if he was just trying to get laugh about such a claim.

  • @fleebness Actually he doesn't. At all. He says in the song is that he's completely straight, but then makes a joke on the concept of those sick 'camps' in the US where they claim to "cure" homosexuality - by wondering if they can do the same for him but in reverse, to make the dream of '5 poofs and 2 pianos' happen :)

  • @kravan1 Ah, right, I didn't remember this correctly. None-the-less, as amusing a video as this one.

  • @fleebness He didn't claim to be gay dumbass - in fact he clearly explained that he wasn't. Fuckwit.

  • @FullMetalAlcohol Er... nice to meet you, too. I hope you'll have a speedy recovery from your keyboard-bound Tourettes syndrome symptoms, as I'm sure it must be terribly limiting.

  • @ursie1986 Except that Russell Brand will never come CLOSE to Minchin's genius. :P

  • hero

  • I love how Minchin mimics Ricky's Reading accent on the word 'Whu-eva.' right at the end. I've never seen someone so comedically aware.

  • Lay off the makeup dude

  • @PissBlaster2k its just part of his act..der.

  • Tim Minchin should definitely rhyme in average conversation more. I'm not the only who noticed how well his voice flows when accidentally rhyming?

  • @danutcase66

I think you misunderstood Tim's final comment, which was a dig at the media and not a defence of the remark. True, it doesn't compare to actual human suffering on a grand scale, but why should it? Very few newsworthy stories do.

It was a media storm in a teacup but then RG began it and fuelled it with his own tweets - and so must take equal blame, and in hindsight I bet he would agree.

Having made the remark he should have said he didn't mean it that way and then shut the fuck up.

  • Sensible man.

  • Ricky Gervais is God!

    And so is Tim.

  • @danutcase66 Couldn't agree more.

  • Tim is bang on the money here.

  • Comment removed

  • the thing that annoys me is that Ricky has only been using "offensive" comedy since he made it big in America and started doing shows like Science, and the Golden Globes. At the start of his career he was cleverly pushing the boundaries and misconceptions of political correctness and social awkwardness. Now he just wants to "offend" his celebrity mates and insult fat people. I can't help but feel like this isn't the Gervais i loved during The Office and Extras...

  • @bensimps123 Can't you?

  • @bensimps123 To be fair, that is pretty funny. Not of the gash though. That's just wrong.

  • @bensimps123 Can't you learn to use apostrophes properly? Minchin's a genius. There, that's how you use 'em. Game over.

  • @danutcase66 Most people aren't smart though. That's why the tabloids are so successful. It's frustrating but true.

  • People in America use "retard" all the time...it's the same thing, it doesn't mean a reference to someone 'mentally challenged,' it means the exact definition of the word. Is it un-PC? Maybe.....but who fucking cares. Like other people have said, there are millions more worse things going on in the world that could use some fucking media attention beside a possible un-PC word use by a comedian who is known for being somewhat 'offensive.' Big shmeal.

  • If thinks Ricky is offensive USA needs to know Frankie Boyle.

  • @MssPaute I'm from the US, and agree, I'd love to see Frankie Boyle or Jimmy Carr live, but I don't think they'd draw enough of a fanbase, most of my countrymen are just far too easily offended, guess I'll have to make a trip abroad.

  • @Hagathorthegr8

If comedians needed most people to accept and like them there would be no comedians.

  • @sc400575 Well put, I most just meant it's a bummer for me personally, ha ha

  • @MssPaute yeah but he only has a few good jokes.

  • @MssPaute What about Doug Stanhope etc?

  • @MssPaute @bobingtonford Louis CK ;)

  • @MssPaute or Jerry Sadowitz..

  • @MssPaute he wasn't saying ricky gervais is offensive. Nor is tim michin american

  • Tim is like Russell Brand's little brother

  • @HowardWolowitzFan

    The handsome one!

  • @HowardWolowitzFan Except tim is funny

  • he is so smart.

  • Love mr Minchin

  • that's tim, love the shit out of it.

  • I love this man.
