For those who are looking for a tune that won't void your warranty, check out Trifecta Performance. Vince (the owner) is amazing, and there is most likely a dealer near you. I used them for my Saturn and LOVED it. My friend is a tuner for them and its literally a 10 minute plug N play setup. No shipping of the PCM and they datalog the tune to finer tune the AFR. Plug into the dataport, run the program on a pc or with their GT tuner, and you are good to go. Easiest 20hp I ever gained.
In general, they don't void your warranty--but if you perform a tune, it's highly likely you would. But you can always return a tune to stock. They aren't CARB certified, but most smog shops aren't going to have a problem with intakes. If you have concern of these things, it's best not to install one.
ah i hate that answer! haha.. well smog shops aren't really my worry, but I get pulled over all the time in my G35 and they've asked me to pop my hood almost 50% of the time. i have a carb legal short ram intake and custom catback exhaust that is also <100dB so i should be 100% street legal minus my tint in cali, but i was wondering if there's any room to get away with such things in an american car or if carb approval was easier to get since the parts are made in the US of A...so cal laws bite
personally, i'd just take the GM performance one instead of this. Lowering my intake all the way down there is sketchy in rain/puddles. Also that windshield washer container is a joke.
With the increased number of these rides I'm starting to see on the roads, a vid-struction like this is just awesome. I know a couple of camaro owners who will eat this video up. Thanks!
this would have been perfect if a before and after dyno was done. nothing proves and expensive upgrade like dyno sheets. how much did the CAI cost ? these minor things will improve the show, in my opinion. good editing tho, you showed the viewer what to do, then got the video doing it. shows got potential. how about a soundtrack? and showcase some American made tools.
Thanks for the feedback! Fastlane will be publishing dyno info at their site for The Pipeline. Dyno runs are very expensive and time consuming, so we don't do it for the show. We leave that to the manufacturer. Also the cost is $469. The reason why I often leave that out of the show is because pricing changes so much on products like these.
Dyno information is now available at the MOTORZ website, as well as Fastlane's website. You can click the 2nd link in the description above to go to the page that has this info.
very nice ! i can understand how posting a price can deter a customer, and how posting a price could start a war with you and other companys competing in the same category. haha. the dyno request is simply just to add fluff to the show. people wanna see new cars run the dyno just as much as running the track. thanks for the replies.
I'd say this was more challenging an install than most due to the fact that the vehicle has to be jacked up in order to relocate the reservoir... and that was a task itself. Plus, there's the matter of dealing with the PCM... all of these things look quick & easy in a 10 minute video...
Don't forget, you had to disconnect the line for the PCM valve, and swap the MAF sensor. I didn't mean to offend you, but you already showed how to put in a cold air intake, even though this is more involved. I have been working on car since I was 5, again, sorry to offend you.
I appreciate the feedback, so no offense taken. One thing I don't want to do with the show is to have 10 different intake episodes. This was an opportunity to work with a new vehicle and show something simple that can be done with it. Point taken :)

Wow, this is a lot of work compared to the competition.

Why do you need to get your computer tuned? do you need a tune in any car or truck if you want a intake? thanks

The hardest air intake installation I've ever seen but will it worth it ????
BTW revoming the fog light would make a big deference.

Seriously though, why did the make it so difficult?

so does this or other intakes void the warranty? i'm assuming none of these are CARB legal for those of us in SoCal too~

awsome vid guys, do you own the vehicles your work on

Some we do, and some we don't. In the case of this Camaro, I wish I owned it--but it belongs to a viewer.

Were is the PCM valve? I can not find it, I might be stupid or somthing?

The PCV hose is located on the intake tube (see video). If yours is not there then perhaps you have the V6 Camaro?
