@Tj1056 Both did mid 13s in that pass from memory, not representative of eithers potential but both of us were getting the knack of things, as said before I missed 4th just after I started pulling away in 3rd and he almost caught me but I managed to put on enough speed to still get the race. I've since done mid 12s with the same power level, and that level is substantially under what its capable of
@Tj1056 Nice :) Yeah the stock TTs on the S8s are pretty decent turbos - I always wanted an FD and was going to get one before the Skyline but after looking at heaps that were time bombs I got the Skyline as a compromise given the amount I spent buying the Skyline and getting rid of the stuff that holds them back (factory turbo is way undersized) I ended up paying less for a car thats way more practical and reliable, goes as well and I've always preferred the sound of an RB. Never looked back!
@misterlith yea most rx7 you see are time bombs because people do not know how to maintain there ride... my car rebuilt at 100k because of shit last owner and now still running hard at 180k... they say these cars will shit out at 150k because of turbochargers on them... but they do not know what seals to get... I prefer Goopy Performance seals they last long time under big power.
@Tj1056 Yep agreed, I decided it wasn't worth the money - realistically I was looking at NZD$30,000 for an FD, + another $5-10k for a rebuild versus NZD$16,000 for the Skyline + NZD$10,000ish for the mods to get it up to where it is now. Its just about to hit 200,000km and still running strong on the original unopened motor which I am pretty happy with
@misterlith someone trying to rip you off for a rx7... especially if its fucked.... can get a rx7 for $10,000 american dollars for a perfectly good one.... and $1,500 for a rebuild... fd so much easier to make power to... :D its like a big air pump that makes the turbo power the wheels haha
@Tj1056 This is going back to when I bought my R33 in 2006, and I buy in NZD so USD is irrelevant to me. I know plenty about rotaries, been into them for a long long time - they make good power but again the RB25 made good power easy as well and I'd have needed 2 rebuilds buy now... the amount I'd needed to have spent to get an RX7 going like my car is for this long, my car would be doing 10s now.
@Tj1056 ... Same here, except my engine gearbox and diff will last a lot long doing it - and again, I'll have done most of the mods before I've even spent what I would have just to buy an RX7 in the first place :)
@Tj1056 LOL you are American eh?? We have been over this all for a start, but basically there is no such thing as a mint 92 RX7 here.... and Skylines are cheaper. I bought this in 2006, RX7s were much more expensive at that time (and probably still are - but doesnt matter as I still have the Skyline). Moral of the story, I raced a 92 RX7 which had more spent on it than my car, I beat it despite missing a gear, he sold it to buy a Nissan.
@Tj1056 Hahaha you are the one trolling my vid, man. Feel free to fuck off - everything I have said is 100% true. I suppose I could have got an RX7 and put an RB26 in it though!!!
@misterlith rotary is much better and faster then a rb26 could ever be... rotary > rb26 forever... la douche I was trolling? I was talking like any normal person and you had to be a jackass so looks more like you are trolling all over yourself... all I did was speak truth and you had to stomp all over it like it was a lie... so go fuck yourself
Nah he is hearing the limiter of another car lining up and doing a burnout, I know i shouldnt bother reading comments on youtube, waste of time completely
ohh hahaha sorry man, im such an idiot its the cars warming up the tyres on the next run. wow nice, thats some big power for an rb25! mines nowhere near that, half maybe lol. stock turbo with 10 psi, and a chopped up apexi exhaust (only cannon on the back and screamer pipe) fmic, splitfires, pod, ebc, hd clutch. im aiming for that sorta power figure also.
@0991ekul At what point do you reckon its bouncing on the limiter? The only moment in that run I remember anything going wrong was when I missed 4th gear, probably hit the limiter when tried to shift quickly into 4th and stood on the gas again - I had to then get out of gear and try again which let the RX claw back a bit of the ground I made on him :(
@0991ekul Can't remember what it was making at the time of the video, it has 402whp on 17psi these days. What turbo do you have on it? The GT30R I run on mine has quite a distinctive whistle - though you may not be able to hear it on that vid. I've also gone to a rowdier (Trust Power Extreme 2) exhaust than I had back then :)
My Skyline was running a Garrett GT3076R about 14psi boost into a stock RB25 (all stock manifolds etc) on street tyres etc, pretty sure the RX7 guy had a ported 13B on stock turbos and PowerFC running around 14psi.
hey isnt this the guy wit dat lith skyline..???mmm yeh i think so, you told me your car had 270kw...how come it didnt seem dat quick next to mine...just asking by the way
Yep it is. The car is not exactly suited to jaunts up to 60kph from traffic lights.... a stock Skyline would probably be better. As much as anything I wanted to get you to open it up so I could hear what was going on in your car. Sounds nice!
For sure man - here's hoping future races are as close (though I'd like to not miss a gear...) I was worried there wouldn't be anything else that similar, but ironically my closest matches were both 1300cc haha.
Yeah I raced him, I bogged the launch against him and thought that was what would lose me the race (we'd been running similar times) though he went and busted out a 13.2 against me. Very quick car, that...
Lol I was driving the Skyline and yeah I crossed the finish line .05x of a second sooner hahaha. Very very close race in every which way looking at the time slips, almost glad I missed the gear because it made it more exciting - think I would have pulled a bit of distance if I hadn't missed the gear.
looked like a pretty even race... bet that rx7 had a pretty small turbo on it...
Tj1056 9 months ago
@Tj1056 Yeah just highflowed stock ones from memory, or something like that. Both cars were pretty mild at that point

@misterlith what where the times?

@misterlith yea I run low 12 right now :) and with a 14psi tune hoping for 11s :D... I still have the 02 99spec TT

@misterlith meh rx7 can get into the 10s with just fuel upgrade and single turbo swap...

@misterlith you got bad deals on rx7... they should cost less to the same as the skyline you got... in perfect condition... especially a 92
