He represented Bath in Parliament for 13 years and today he sits in the House of Lords as Lord Patten of Barnes. He is also the chancellor of the university of oxford, where I attend. The reason that the British handover Hong Kong was that they were pressured to return the Colony, or the chinese would have invaded the Colony killing a lot of innocent Colonials. And Margaret Thatcher was forced to sign the Joint-Declaration of 1984 to return Hong Kong to China or the colony would have been invaded. Even though it was the worst thing that could ever happen to Hong Kong, being part of the British Empire was the greatest thing that ever happened.
