The Klan used the Bible to justify their evil deeds. They had an agenda so they justified it with religion. Jesus did say many people would profess to do his work but he would tell them "depart from me,ye that work iniquity" (Matt 7:23). The same argument can be made of Muslims suicide bombers who kill in the name of Allah. Do they speak for all Muslims? No, and neither does the KKK speak for all Christians.
The problem with that is the people who did speak for all Christians, at that time, felt the same way about Blacks as the KKK. Slavery, lynching, racism, Jim Crow, beatings, rape, murder and unjust laws were not the creation of the KKK. This was the order of the day under people that were not members of the KKK.
That's my point: you can use the Bible or Koran to justify anything you want. People purposely misconstrue and misrepresent biblical doctrine everyday. It doesn't mean that it is okay. Would the speaker of this vid say that the Koran is wrong when you bring up the fact that Muslim extremists use it to justify killing innocent people?
I don't follow any religion specifically. If I call myself anything I'm a deist. I believe in the "prime mover" idea, that a force had to start the universe and keep order. I think "god" is that force. i just leave it at that and take it for what it is. religions are people's opinions about that force and the motives behind some religions are evil. i dont have a problem with people who follow religion but they need to treat people right and tell the truth about shit. plain and simple.

I'm white and went to a private Catholic school and Catholic Church as a child and young man.
