@Ramster211 Depends what your on. Wouldn't be more then 60k USD. My first job in Aus flying a 206 I was getting paid about 28K but when your hour building you can't be fussy. I know some guys on twin otters on about 80k but thats the limit really anywhere in the world for bush work. The plus side is there is FA to spend your money on and the flying is like you'd never experience. You'll miss it once you start RPT multi crew work.
@blazedafrodon Get a single VFR CPL don't worry about multi or an instrument rating, I didn't even bother with ATPLs, they will come in good time then get yourself to Namibia or Botswana and throw your log book around. Thats where most guys start, don't bother emailing them you won't get a reply, they hire locally and most guys just show up log book in hand looking for that first job. Try get some 206/210 time if you can but I only had 172/182 and 170TT Good luck!
Hi, ur vedio is good and i noticed "Embry Riddle" university tag. which course did you do in embry? How many hours did you clocked before starting bush flying in Africa?
Awesome video and insight in to contract flying in Africa. I love Africa, and would do anything to fly bush there, I always wanted to return and be a PH or pilot in central or British east. Wife doesn't want to go, scared of the diseases lack of stability. I'll just have to settle for guided hunts in SA.
I fly for pleasure and is stressfull enough when I land on a short runway with little flap and a crosswind with traffic behind me. I just can´t imagine flying in the Congo with barely radio aids to grass strips with guerrilla left and right, etc, etc...
I know what you mean by feeling to old for your age. I had it when I was flying in the airliners so I cannot even imagine how it will be like for you guys. In either case, at least you're doing the real flying and don't have to deal with waiting in a overcrowded airport for your plane to arrive and having every passenger come yell at you and complain as you could do something about it, so I quit, I will be flying fly in safaris now, earning less, flying for real and enjoying life. keep it going
Gods speed!!! It does look like fun!!!! :)
