@Shyguy825 Well, it's pretty obvious. They change it so viewers can understand the opening, withouts having to read subtitles. However, most anime viewers prefer the actual Japanese opening. However, in Naruto, they just said, "hell with it!" and kept in some of the original Japanese openings for the viewers to enjoy back in Toonami.

@MrJaywed1000 It's better in Japan because of the openings and the dubbing. Voice actors in Japan add really good emotion in their character's voices, a lot better than how Americans do it. Also with the openings, they're just really catchy and not cheesy. That my friend, is why MOST people who watch anime perfer is japanese dubbed than it being dubbed by American voice actors. However, the voice acting is improving.

I will have that in Germany, with German text, of course, I hate Sag das Zauberwort. But I'm grateful that the German version is uncut, not like in America. But most of the animes in Germany have the original songs from Japan, with German text. But Sailor Moon gets techno. Horrible!

I haven't watch Sailor Moon at all, but there are really sometimes when I disapprove with her, Usagi's/Serena's, school uniform. In 1:23, there is a shot where the wind is blowing. You can see under her shirt and she her stomach. That's really revealing, especially if it's a windy day outside and she's running. :/

Btw, I loved watching this show too as a kid. But knowing what I know now about anime, including Pokemon (case in point, Japanese episode 35), I have realized that anime is not, never was, and never will truly be for kids. If we want to rip off Japanese shows, just stick to Super Sentai and Kamen Rider, that's intended for kids. Ironic how live action shows are for adults here, but in Japan it's the opposite and vice versa with cartoons.

Firstly I just wanna say I'm not trying to bash the Japanese people or the Japanese version. Now I have to say I honestly find this creepy and I tend to watch a lot of creepy or scary things so no I'm not a softie or goody two shoes. That being said I do agree that the English dub DiC version was a bit childish but I LOVED it it's what I grew up and I just adore it even the sailor says stuff which I actually liked. But I do agree the Japanese version was more adult and had quite a lot of depth.

@insanewoman389 thats because the orginal japanese anime was made for early/late teens :P when this was dubed in english it was made for young kids. so the episodes that where considered inappropriate where cut out in the english version, and the very last season of sailor moon called sailor stars never came out in english because of the new charaters that transformed from a guy to a girl

Besides, there was a reason why by the time DiCs version came out, the use of characters spreaking to the audience and delivering a message after each episode had been out of favor for more than a decade. It simply didn't work and made the shows feel preachy, which many people object to. Dealing with themes in a story is good, but beating the audience over the head with a sermon is an insult to their intelligence. CN's veresion was much closer to the original and better,

@sega31098 Actually. that spoke to the strength of Sailor Moon itself. The sheer emotional magic of the series was able to withstand all of DiC's largely (by today's standards) unecessary edits, the ham-handed attempt at de-ethnicization (as we have found out, kids will not automatically reject a series which is set in another culture) and the useless Sailor Says message at the end of each episode. The ending sermon felt like it was grasping at straws.
