One of his nephews served with me in Iraq - said he is the horse's petute (to use Colonel Potter's venacular) of the family - a real self rightous son of a bitch - refused to send a single autograph to troops fighting in Iraq - I'd run the piece of shit over if he was walking across the street
David Ogden Stiers is one of the most under-rated actors that I know of. To me he excells in any Genre that he is put in. I was dissapointed in the roles he played in a few 1980 teen movies in small parts that were beneath his ability, but everyone's got to eat, right? He was great in civil war roles and others.
I think that everyone should focus on his acting ability and seperate that from his choice of lifestyle.
So what, Tereru, Charles was only better than Frank cause he was written to be by scriptwriters! Stiers is worse than Larry Linville was in life! Stiers is a gay! Linville was straight!
Charles Emerson Winchester III exhibited more humanity than his predecessor Frank Burns ever did. Beneath Winchester's arrogant, pompous aristocratic facade existed a truly caring human being. When Charles left the 4077th in a garbage truck driven by Sergeant Zale, he was a changed man for the better.
Yay, a Charles video! I could hug you. Replacing Frank with Charles was one of the best things that happened to M*A*S*H. He had some of the most clever lines on the show. My favorite being when Mulcahy was playing the piano: "Every time that man tickles those ivories, an entire elephant's graveyard turns over."
I love the episode where you hear the tape his sister with the speech impediment sent him. It showed a whole other side of his character that was seldom seen.
My favorite was when his sister was going to marry the italian and he was writing his letter drunk while humming a phoney italian tune "I await with garlic baited breath" and "to Honoria and Vito "the big knife" Machete". Winchester was one of the funniest characters. He filled the comedic gap after Trapper left.
My favorite Charles Emerson Winchester line was. "I'm so conservative, I make you look like a New Dealer." That's the episode where this conservative bureaucrat from Washington accused Major Houlihan of being a communist sympathizer.
does any one know the episode number where he learns self defense?

David Odgen-Stiers is sinfully (New Testament Romans 1:21-27) gay! call 1-888-264-0877 for a genuine homosexual cure!

I like the way Charles set up Col. Flagg for his downfall. Charles never sucked up to Flagg or various generals the way Burns did.

Charles was SO much better than Frank - he could still be a evil bastard, but he was great anyway xD Love him!

Correction to what I just wrote. Charles left the 4077th in a garbage truck driven by Sergeant Rizzo.
