@BiggerThinking1 Thank you. Here in NZ, we remained utterly unaware of such building methods, and that is why all of New Zealand is covered in VICTORIAN ERA brick buildings just like those that turned out to be above an unknown faultline.
a friend of mine was hospitalized after being stabbed and experienced NDE's, and all i see is white like the inside of a fluorescent daylight lamp, all blank, but now he survived that ordeal

June 2010, i was in chch during winter uni break. i remembered me and my mates checked-in at Cokers at Manchester St. (if i'm not mistaken), rode the trams and avon river punting, and visited the Canterbury Museum and the Chch Cathedral. it was really sad to know that the chch cathedral was badly damaged when the Feb 22 quake struck. i wonder if Cokers survived the quake. :(
Thanks for sharing your video........... was a dark dark day for ChCh, and the violent ground beneath us...... one day i will NEVER forget the devastation and carnage of our city, and the lost souls :(
CHC is sooo lucky nothing cracked open, spilt and exploded or we could have been looking at almost all the city fringe suburbs being decemated in a matter of minutes as well as the tragedy in the CBD.
yeah that 22nd feb quake was pretty violent i was walking threw jelly park chch drunk as with a few mates and that shit was CRRRAAAZZZZY no remorse just violent shaking and i seen people scatter and the road open up and the gutters fill with water alarms going off everywhere truly a adrenaline pumping day
I'm from just out of Chch, but wasnt there that day, left for Dunedin the day before. It's so surreal to me, but to see what you saw gives me that little insight into the heartache Chch will hold forever more. thank you
I was at school which is in Darfield and I was just going through the canteen and I felt it but thought meh just another one I went home and watched the news so horrible. RIP to loved ones Lucas I miss ya!! :'(
hey, I was still trapped underground when you shot this in the old anz. The girl and two guys in the video pulled me out. They said they remember your face. Thanks it really helped my family understand to an extent something I can barely describe. glad you are safe and well and hope everything is coming together for you.
@Hollyjanewhite Oh wow Yea I heard from some friends about you being stuck under there, So glad your alright. Things are getting better.. all the best
@Hollyjanewhite trapped underground stuff that. hope you all good. i only got hit by a piece of falling rubble but thats me. now getting trapped is a completely different story. much love, be safe and we will most deffinately rise as one
I was in this earthquake. never before had i felt such terror. I remember my Dad saying my house was ruined and that people were dead when he brought me back from school. I am so sad about what has happened to my home and city. There was a magnitude of 5.3 tonight and we only got power back on about an hour ago. I was in the supermarket and everything fell off the shelves and all i thought was
"Oh God. Another one."
Japan, all of my prayers go to you, hope that we don't get another big one! xxx
Watching scenes like these, it's so hard to comprehend. I'm going to be in Christchurch in a couple of months. I'm a little nervous. Not because of the earthquakes themselves, but because I will be facing the harsh reality of life. We all face events that impact our lives, such as this one, which has effected so many around the world. For me, it is yet another stark reminder that we only live once.
I'm looking at my city and I can't get my head around it. This is my home and I know it like I know myself. And yet, I can't make sense of this. I love so many of these buildings, and to see the cupola off the old ANZ building lying in the middle of Lichfield street? It's mad. I'm struggling to comprehend what I am seeing.
@littlepoppitnz more trouble will happen this year.this is the year of the illuminati.watch how powerful they are.they are pure power.and they are killing many.most will be dead by 2013.
@littlepoppitnz what is the situation there in new zealand.are many dead.?it must be a secret weapon that the power is using on us?we knew that they would unleash it.but people sayyour crazy.im just sorry for the dead.
@DrLeavingsoon you are blind man.just look at whats going on in the world.islamic revolution quakes etc.you cant be helped so please dont respond back.thanks!
@DrLeavingsoon most people on you tube are not braindead dumbasses like you think they are.they know that you are full of shit.most likely you are one of them.so go and screw yourself bitch!
What the fuck!! Is that rowan? He filmed our band video!! Holy crap, hope you guys are OK, its unreal to know that was us, it was our home and that shit went down. Such violent evil shaking...
This is unbelievable footage SpooceDan - brought tears to my eyes. The few words you do say encompass the shock for real. It was scarey enough being out in the suburbs, can't imagine what it was like in town. Hope you and your family are ok, and everyone else who is reading this. xo
Wow u were opposite poplar lane ...I was supposed to b meeting my friend 4 lunch lucky she cancelled...u also captured another friend of mine coming out the lane I'm pretty sure anyway I'll send him the link. He was working on tram. The noises r awful I'll never forget. we walked out of our high st building onto that same corner by Manchester and it was just disbelief and shock and the horrible realisation that people were under those buildings :(
Terrible tragedy hope you and all New Zealanders affected by this Earthquake are okay, and my thoughts goes out to those lost and to their families from the US.
hey mate great footage aye mate!!! glad your okay! i was in pak n save in town! and it hit pretty hard there too couldnt move newhere it was just so violent! mai baby girl thought i was just playing wid da trolley but little did she realise that i was holding on to her really tight and our trolley was just goin side too side then all the food bottles and other stuff that were on the shelves just went everywhere!
You are SO incredibly lucky you weren't thrown out of your office!! My Mums work is on Leighfield street and she cant go back, LUCKILY I had convinced her to buy some cruit with me, and she wasn't there, we were on Fitzgerald Ave!! You are so lucky, btw fantastic response with the video mate. I didn't even think about it!
Clydebear, fences were still up due to damage from September quake. Orange-vested workers were not emergency workers - I'm guessing they were from the nearby tramline project.
When was this video shot? Am just confused with all the barriers and emergency workers already on the scene outside. Were there road works there already or something?

Does New Zealand realize that Japan building codes use timber and flexible steel - not bricks and mortar - which crumble like cookies when vibrating.
