    6-Baghdad

    5-Cairo

    4-Jerusalem

    3-Athens

    2-Rome

1-Istanbul (it was the capital of the world about 1700 years)

  • Istanbul no. 1 because it was the heart of the world for about 4 centuries

  • yay Athens first! :))

  • Prague should be number one

  • endiburgh and dublin are here just to make creazy englishmen :)

  • ok cairo rome athene istanbul jerusalem, but paris and london is missing

  • paris or london, i think some little fact in history happen here...

  • uppsssss first St.Petersburg is a quite new city which was made as a model of Paris in Russia. And how can Istanbul in 9th place. There are 2 most important cities in the world Istanbul and Rome.Because both of them ruled the world for many centuries and all nations wanted to have them.and about Athens if we talked about the classical ages yes it can be first but in 2th century it can find a places maybe in top 10 but exactly not the first place

  • Uhhhhh. London? Hello? Possibly THE most historical city on Earth...

  • If you are just going for old, most of the cities on the list fit pretty well, but if you want the most volume of historical events, London belongs on the list. From pre Roman times to present, constant site of important historical events.

  • What about Lisbon, the city of discoveries? Venice?

  • jarusselam is in palestine.

  • Bagdat And İstanbul must be top

  • i wish this guy new something about history....

  • I'm American, I visited Istanbul in summer of 2009. It needs to be in the top 3. Anyone who has even dabbled in History knows of the great Constantinople.

  • instabul is a greek word means to the city .....yes greece is the beggining of modern time the birth town of everything :)

  • @MrGiorgakisssss that wasnt the egyptians??

  • Where's Paris and London? Surely they gotta be in there somewhere, they are ancient.

  • Budapest (Hungary) is beautiful, too

  • This video is a joke!

  • Actually, Prague is very beautiful. But yes, Dublin and Berlin ?They have barely no history.

  • @5kjkj Emm do you know what world war 2 is. The Russians nearly destroyed berlin in world war 2 and their are many historical world war 2 buildings in berlin like the Reichstag. and Dublin has loads of old buildings in parts of the city and bullet ridden buildings from the War of Independence.

  • Berlin, Edinburgh, DUBLIN? PRAGUE? None of those can possibly be in the top 10 historical cities on earth. Off the top of my head (just in europe) here we go: Rome, Athens, Paris, London, Venice, Constantinople/Istanbul, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Vienna, Madrid.

  • Istanbul @ 9? The capital of 3 great empires..

I think you dont know much about Istanbuls history since you place it at number 9 :)

  • where is baghdad, london, troy,Makkah and madina?

whilst No Rome -> No Europe and no idea of UNITED Europe. Go study history, my friend: Greece has invented an IMPERFECT democracy, Rome has perfectioned it, inventing the current form of govern.

  • @MadameGiustizia i know history better than u greece offer more stuff in the world right???

  • @ranucciman1 you got to be joking me right now!! OK I admit tha Italy has a great history but nothing compares to Ancient Greece, Athens in particular!! Tha city of democracy, education, philosophy and more and more... Am I wrong?

  • 953017rz -

Mexico City is one of the Oldest city in "America"

But America is VERY new compared to other countries like Egypt, Europe, Iranians, Turks...

  • Dublin, Edinburgh, Sint Petersburg, Prague, wtf?

and wtf athens number 1 ?? heheheh noob greek who put this video

you people dont even know something about history. number 1 is istanbul no doubt about it . 2 is jerusalem and 3 rome. athens maybe number 4.. but absolutely not 1

  • @ysmzysmz and why not number 1 for Athens. Just to remind you tha Instanbul is in fact a stolen city! INSTANBUL WAS GREEK!! And then, some ''clever'' guys with no civilization at all broke in and destroyed everything. Sooo, as you understand you do not have to be proud of Hagia Sofia because it is also Greek but you just put a pair of columns and called it a mosque! Well Done Then..

  • @tzortzini123 wtf are you talking about? who says I am proud of the hagia sophia. If you know anything of the city you would know that the hagia sophia is not the only building there.

  • picture in 0:54 is fantastic. I go there every night and drink tea. I hope everyone can do the same one day in the future.....

  • have you forgotten about iran? the oldest country in the world with over 3000 years of civilisation? and why is cairo behind st petersburg? no sense...

  • İstanbul is the ninth one? WEİRD thing.

  • @Ma010S I agree, this is a video about the oldes cities. but i must say Turkey is an older country than iran, and was older populated than iran. the hittite empire were before the persian empire. But i understand if most of the people who are reading this dont know anything named ''hittite empire'', thats cause its older, and empires dont got that big at that time :). And its hard to say if athens came before than istanbul, cause on official history websites it says they both are at least 3000BC

  • I agree with Athens, Jerusalem and Rome taking the top spots... I've visited all three and they are truly breathtaking (and so are the other 7 that are listed here of course). I still feel that that Edinburgh is a little undermined... it's rank should be moved a little upwards, I mean, the entire city is built on two levels and there are castles everywhere. Also, where are London and Paris? If I were to bring up cities from East/South Asia as well, that would perhaps entail another debate...

  • i agree!!go italy!go greece!

  • sooo where is Alexandria ?!!!!!

  • LISBON IS 1K years old!! COMOON

  • Mexico City is one of the oldest city in America!

  • @spartandescendant "paris? yeah..paris and the other cities got history about 500 years...you call that history?"

--> Paris is more than 2000 years old....

  • hey! the picture in 2:17 is in St petersburg, Florida, USA jajajajaja

  • oh greece!!!!!!!

  • For Prague you have a plus xD

  • San Juan,Puerto Rico

  • @leonwiganer there was istanbul after be capital of byzantine ;)

  • @fuckgayreece1 when i saw 9 estambul i was WTF ! constantinople greece

  • What about London there the city that invented mean time! WTF is this shit!

  • THE BEST HIRTORY IN THE WORLD GREEK!!!

  • @bobsinclar25

    Youve watched 300 too much.

Greece was filled with arse faggotry.

  • Dublin? Edinburgh? Berlin? I'm sorry but I think you're wrong. What about Florence, Venice, Naples, Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon, Pekin, Granada, Seville, Siena, Paris, London and much more historical cities?

  • is istanbul 9th ?

lol istanbul older than great britain :D

  • lol austria was the biggest country in the world (exept russia ) and now its so small .(

  • @luki5133 lol czech republic was the most populated country in the world (except china) and now its so small .(

  • @janb17 yes guy our great nations ...:((

  • @Trigoth the netherlands have never been bigger than occupaing some very little islands, indonesia, suriname and south africa. you call that big? don't vompare your little country with a country like great britian. look at the ottoman empire or hunnic empire. then you'll see what is big. if amsterdam were a trade capital, how about istanbul then?

  • @Trigoth whahaha omg look at how little the netherlands are omg . i'm sure your dutch

  • Where is Misar.

  • Dublin? Edinborough? Are you kidding me?

Where's Beijing? Tokyo? Delhi? London? Madrid? Paris? New York? Baghdad?

    This list is retarded.

  • The most historical city must be in AFRICA. civilisation started in Egypt

  • @TheNikkisha civilization started in Sumer, Aka Mesopotamia, not Egypt.

  • Where's London? It was founded by the Romans, and even before that there were stone age encampments in the area!

  • i would say athens rome cairo constantinople jerusalem peking paris london moscow berlin

  • By the way, If you were going to upload a video including the cities that have "the most history about them" you had to add Damascus: the oldest city of the word; Naples (3000 years old), and so on, but I don't think Jerusalem to be better than Rome, I was there and I was amazed!

  • @eheheh1986 Milan is not the most beautiful city of italy... It's great but not the best!

  • and mexico????????????

  • WTF ATHENS? are you kidding me ?

  • @eheheh1986 milano????? O.O ma se è la città più brutta che abbiamo in italia..... ma per favore -.-

  • SAVANNAH GA!!!!

  • Excuse ME where is Crocow ?

  • I would do something like this: 1. Rome, Italy 2. Athens, Greece 3. Constantinople, Thrace, Turkey 4. London, United Kingdoms 5. Alexandria and Nile Delta 6. Damascus, Syria 7. St. Petersburg, Russia 8. Venice, Italy 9. Sevilla, Spain 10. Paris, France
  • DUBROVNIK??????????

  • most history is Rome, it had 2 milion people more than 2000 years ago.....

atene was a smal city country of not more od 1000 people

  • @GrandeurFrancaise I can't agree at all. Rome had about 1 milon people in ancient times (Abstrat of The population of ancient Rome. by Glenn R. Storey. HighBeam Research. Written 1997-12-1. Retrieved 2007-4-22.), and Athens hadn't only 1000 peopla (it's rediculous), Athens had about 300.000 - 700.000 people (Encyclopedia Of Ancient Greece (ed. by Nigel Guy Wilson). Routledge (UK), 2006. ISBN 0-415-97334-1. Pages 214, 215.)

  • @GrandeurFrancaise:

Rome in its glory days: 1,4 Million people

Athen in its glory days: 300.000 people (so much more than 1.000)

  • Turkey is not nice and ive been there. i agree with Scotland . In this video ive been in Berlin, Istanbul, St. Petersberg, Rome, Jerusalem and Athens. and (i don't care whoever don't believes it.

  • -where china syria india and iraq these are some of the oldest civilizations not europe china invented paper compass and europe was still trying to figure out how to make meat cooked without burning themselves

  • Tthis is shit...

  • Have you ever been out of Europe??

  • I dont agree at all

what about salamanca, toledo, santiago of compostela, seville etc... al of them have the double of history than cities like dublin...

  • I was wondering as I saw Berlin, because I think that gaerman has got more historical cities than that, like Aachen (Aux la Chapelle), Nuremberg, Cologne...

  • @ichalkias13 But, I must say that the video is all about the uploader's opinion, and that's okay and I respect that.

  • @ichalkias13 the oldest german town is TREVIRI, Cologne means roman colonia

  • @GrandeurFrancaise The capital of Treviri was Trier, and the name has celtic origins. Treviri was not a city but a tribe. The people claimed germanic descent. Also, is has nothing to do with Cologne, I can't understand why you have mentioned it (Cologne).

  • @ichalkias13 Treviri in italian Trier on german Augusta Treverorum on latin.

built in the 16ac over a roman castrum of the 30 ac.

The german oldiest buildings are here and are all built by romans,

Basilica di Costantino, Porta nigra, Terme, bridge over mosella, anfiteatro.

Cologne is another german town built by romans

  • @spartandescendant If the video was named "Ancient historical cities" it should contain more cities from greece, the roman empire, egypt, china persia... The thing is that the video is called "Historical" in general. Of course the medieval is a historical period, but in my opinion not as historical as the ancient. I miss Efesos, Pella and Sparta :) And Istanbul should called Constantinople in this video 'cause that was the name of the city until 1930. Cya

    To'peksa antikeimenikos :P

  • @ichalkias13 Further, I think that the uploader would name his video "Top 10 Largest In Present Historical Cities Of The World" because that's exactly what we see. Best regards :)

  • Haha, i dont agree... because, have you ever thought about Copenhagen DenmarK? Thats one of the most historical city/country in the world! And i wonna bet. Seriously...

  • I agree with these cities being historical, but you forgot cities like Paris, London, Barcelona, which were the capital of the three largest empires... also Beijing and Mexico City (before known as Tenochtitlan). but apart from that good video!

  • this video is sad!

  • toledo, granada or madrid should be

  • remaining İSTANBUL [1453] of the turkish sonsuza kadar:)))))

  • HELLO!What about Philadelphia,Pennsylvania,U.S.A.?!

  • I dont agree at all...

cities like salamanca, toledo, santiago(spain) have much more historical unesco cultural heritage than cities like berlin...

  • I'd say most historic cities are Paris London Athens Cairo Rome not in that order

  • totally agree with athens!!! the best city!! and with a great history..!! whoever has been to athens , click 1++++++!!

  • istanbul is a historical city because of the greeks, the pontians greeks. they have a big tourism because of agia sofia and other things that were all made by the greeks... but they say its a nice city... i havent been there ... id like to go to paris, new york, oslo and at barbados or in another carribean island!

  • @091928486 You mean Constantinople. Yes of course... the capital of the Byzantine Empire

  • @ichalkias13 yes.. we (the greeks) know this city as constantinoupoli, but now its called istanbul....

  • When people put their title as "top 10 cities" or top 20 this and that...it doesn't help when they don't a brief explanation by what criteria are they based on. "Top" or "best" are so arbitrary, dubious, ambiguous without further explanation. By historical, if you mean by how ancient the place is and how intact it still is(as some have modernised their ancient cities), then there are many places more deserving than most of those you put here. And there seems a certain bias for european cities.

  • racist

  • hahah luxor 8000 B.c

  • Where is London and Paris they have been so much stuff in these two cities

  • @rolo12347 yeah but here we are talking about istorical cities, like relics places, of course London and Paris don't has that

  • @boricua15able ok thanks for that

  • @rolo12347 you are welcome, maybe London and Paris are not historical but two of the best cities on the world, greetings from Puerto Rico =)

  • @boricua15able thanks i would love to visit puerto rico my friend said its a nice place he went for family holiday

  • @rolo12347 hehe thanks very much, you will love Puerto Rico, the same to you, I see you are from UK and some I will visit it too one day , great country =)

  • @boricua15able yh i want to go so many places

  • Im not very sure of these cities..... what is there historical about Berlin???

Wat about cities like Baghdad, Melikawat, Mohenjo-Daro, Basora, Luxor, Phnom Penh, Kyoto, Gamla Uppsala, etc....

  • They are not top 10 of the world, but top 10 of the western world I guess. You totally forget China, Japan and India.

  • cairo is the old its 7000 years

  • istanbul is young

  • well europe also had towns 6000 years ago. The neolitic towns. It is known that the first civilization (urban towns with laws, organized structure, etc) was Mesopotamia, located in what is now Iraq.

Dont feel too offended about this video

  • Where's London, didn't even make it to 10!

  • I think the video would be better, if you explained why these cities hold the most historical significance for you.

  • A bit biased to Europe I'd say.

  • You completely messed up the pic for st. Petersburg!!! Pic number one is from Moscow and 2 has palmtrees which don't grow there!!!!

  • rome, athens i agree, not only one city the entire country should be here SPAIN, but scott. dublinnnnnn WTF? im from washington D.C btw

  • i cant belive france or lodnon is not on this list , most of these ntion u say notbeen around longer than britian an france , this man is a twit

  • Where are Baghdad, Samarkand, Bokhara, Makkah, Madina, Dehli, Multan, Demuscus, Hebrun and so and so......and why Dublin, Scot etc......I do not agree with you dear, any how thanks a lot.
