  • there's a book titled the secret valley

  • O Wauw!!! Flash back

  • Wow, a veritable who's who of Australian acting talent. Max Cullen is an absolute legend, and even a young Simone Buchanan holding a koala at the end. Thanks for posting the clip.

  • jeugdsentiment

  • this was awesome back in the day

  • "I know a valley, I know a valley

My Secret Valley the world has to see

One place for children, welcome from around the world

Please come and share Secret Valley with me...

    Paris, London, Montreal and Amsterdam

So many friends that we want to know

From the hills of Spain to the city streets of Germany

I know a place where we all can go".

    Wow, lovely memories

  • All I remembered from this was 'from the hills of Spain...'. And I remember how they all had these sweet motorbikes. And some guy named WW.

    Memory... is... fading...

  • hehe as a kid I actualy thought this place was real :)

  • I was watching this when i was a child... all that i remember is the opening and a scene with "spider mc clarck" (dunno if in italy this character were had a different name from the original...), apiece of my memories, always in my mind...

  • I've wondered for years what this series from my childhood was, all I remembered was that the theme was sung to Waltzing Mathilda, and that they sang "paris, london, montreal and amsterdam", and that it had something to do with kids in australia. Finally after years figured out the show. Thanks for posting!

  • @Duynsathe I had the same. I was so happy when I found this, but I didn't remebered that I ever watched this untill I heard Waltzing Mathilda

  • Heel goed!!

  • What a surprise. It´s like going back to childhood!. I didn´t like very much the serial but I was crazy about the song and the girls voices. They sounded to me like "teenager-abba". I remember trying to find the record in vain. Those days without internet!...So, this is the first time I listen this song again!. Thanks for posting!

  • Yes I too remember this blast from the past.Strangely enough I always was on the side of the baddies.Did anybody pick up that ''WW'' the property developer with the black leather gloves who hired all the others to drive the kids out of Secret Valley was "Toecutter ''from the original Mad Max film?

  • I last remember seeing this in August 1987.

The ABC showed it quite alot I watched it whenever it was on :)

  • I thought I'd never hear this song ever again, and it all came flooding back!

    Yes, even that bushfire episode.

Just how long did this show run for in Australia anyway?

Apart from all the countries mentioned in the song, was it shown on tv anywhere else?

    Cool man!

    5*

  • remember this on in new zealand in the 80's...cool

  • OMG I loved this show when i was a kid!!

  • WOW! I remember this show and always wondered why I had never seen repeats of this on the telly over the years. Would be such a shame if the masters were destroyed.

  • all the masters were destroyed in a fire at the abc studios i heard. cheers for this blast from the past.

so wanna see the whole series but dont think is possible unless someone videoed it all and converted to digital.....

    heres hoping.

  • was that the same "fire" that destroyed the old animated series, THE MYSTERIOUS CITIES OF GOLD ???

used to be on the ABC too... but, it is on DVD now... so, that fire must've been a conspiracy

  • Yep, I can still sing the song :) Anyone remember the bushfire episode? I had nightmares for weeks!! Awesome Aussie series though.

  • Kestra, though I probably can only recall maybe three or four episodes with any real clarity, the bush fire one definitely stands out in my memory.

Unfortunately, I never got to see the last part of it, so have no idea how it all ended!

I'm glad I grew up in the 80s when it comes to kids' series. Lot of good cheesy memories.

(But at least things weren't so annoyingly dumbed down and there were much better serious moments. Not everything was sugar coated with cheap humour as it is now.)

  • In fact, scarily enough, I never forgot that song either!

  • I'm from Belgium and i liked that nice Australian serie.

  • Brilliant i love it!Thankyou so much for posting this it brings back memorys of being a kid and when life was simple and stress free. And no one remembers this show at all....

  • I used to have the hots for Simone Buchanan (hey I was 12 at the time)

  • i had a crush on spider (kelly dale) !!

  • Geweldig!

  • Oh my.. I still know this song so well. Must have been 25 yrs ago or something.

  • i never thought i would see this again! oh man i must be getting old!

    thanx for posting:)

  • It's not only an Australian serie but also a Spanish one.

  • Wow! I used to watch this when I was about 10/11 years old! Loved it!

Great to hear the song again. I still remember all the words after all this years!

    thanks for posting!

  • I loved this show!!!! I wish I could watch the series again.

  • Fuck yeah they were the days

  • There were so many great Aussie shows for kids back then. This one was one of my favourites! I'd love to have it on DVD for my kids to watch :)

  • ahh, childhood memories! Thank you. Still love that song after so many years.

  • AAAAAA!!!!! Thank you!!! :)))))) Such nostalgia!!! I loved this serial so!!! He was shown in our Russia in 1992 - 1995! I now see these shots and hear this song first for 15 years!!! It is my childhood!!! Thank you!!! :))))))))

  • Spider Mcgerk FTW!!! I used to think his gang's booby traps outside their cave hideout were the best!!

Thanks heaps for posting this up - very fond childhood memories :D

  • This show was AUSSIE as =)

  • Cool.

That was such a great show.

Thats really what it was like in the 80's in Australia, in the country.

    Good times.

  • spider mcglerck and WW

  • I love all the fights they had with the bad kids, Spider McGlerk was the leader of the baddies. Then the Secret Valley Kids would celebrate with cream buns, cakes and milkshakes! WW (aka) William Wopper was the evil man with the Metal Hand!!!!

  • I think it's hilarious that we all have such strong memories of this show, but nobody else we know does!!

I was so small when it was on, but I have always remembered how desperately I wanted to be one of those kids!!

  • Wow. I loved this when I was really small, but I was too small to remember the name of the show!

All I could remember was the opening song where there were lots of children running. And now I've found that very part of the show!

I'm so glad I found it by accident. I used to dream about being there.

  • Aw, I wish all the series came out on DVD... thanks for this one btw!

  • i am greek the very best movie.greek tv is greek version

  • I'm from Spain and I also dreamt I lived there...

  • Yeah, I remember this from when I was a kid. Spider, snake and sparrow right?

  • I've always remembered the words to this song butnever remembered what it was called. I used to pretend I was on the show!! Wow, memories!!

  • I never got to see the series but always wanted to as I was an extra on the show a couple of times. I was only about 11 at the time. It was filmed at Smokey Dawsons Ranch (who just died this week) in Terry Hills N.S.W. I have tried to find out how to get the series but was told by ABC that you can buy it from them at $80 an episode so I never did get it. Would really love to see it as I spent alot of days on the set and always wandered what happened.

  • We watched it with my sisters on Kindernet, and we were often building Secret Valley out of LegoDuplo... We had entire game inspired by it!

That was eleven years ago, and I never seen again...

    But thanks for this!

  • Another fantastic episode....ha ha.

  • I was a kid [not sure how old] when this was aired here in Singapore :) Ahh.. reminiscing.

  • dosn't Verborgen mean forgotten in Holland?

  • It means hidden.

  • I grew up there!

  • Wow....good stuff. This was my fave show when i was a kid. I`ve never forgotten the title song. Brings back very good memories.

  • omg i remember watching this when i was bout 4 or 5. I distincly remember an episode where the girl with dark hair was climing a cliff n she fell. I've been scared of cliff-faces to this day haha

  • OMG!!!

    Wow this brings back memories!!

I grew up in the Blue Mountains where the show was filmed, and I used to go out hiking in the bush when I was a kid, trying to find "The Secret Valley". I always daydreamed that I was on the show... either that or certain actors from the series would meet and fall madly in love with me! haha! (I think I was 7 or 8 y/o at the time)

    Classic!!

P.s. Anyone knows where I can get copies please let me know! lol

  • thanks for posting this video, i 've been looking for it for so long!

  • My Childhood! My fave show as a kid, this and DANGER-MOUSE. I'm amazed it ever aired outside Australia. Hey what about 'Round the Twist'. They make some crazy kids-shows in this country!

  • This brings back so many memories. I hope one day I will be able to see it again but I doubt it will ever happen. If anyone has any episodes on VHS or DVD I would gladly pay alot for them

  • Didnt realise Secret valley was so popular I was talking to a friend about it and he syas he has a couple episodes on video I will try to get a copy

  • FINALLY! Proof that I am NOT insane. I too, have been given the look of utter craziness whenever I have tried to remenisce with others about this show. I've always thought it would be great to 're-make' this series if not send it up, that is, if more people remembered it. THANKYOU for the memories (and proof) of this little aussie gem!

  • someone on another forum mentioned that ABC said that if theyhad enough requests that they would maybe release the dvd, maybe it would be a good idea for everytone here interested to email ABC requesting a dvd, would love to see this again.......

  • I am 25 & Australian... When i asked my parents & friends if they remember the classic tv series Secret Valley they looked at me like i had lost the plot... I remember watching it when i was younger i mostly remembered the Theme Song & Spider!!! Now after a 3 year search i've found it n i ain't crazy.. Thanx heaps 4 the clip...

  • Believe it or not, they even had this show on Malaysian TV back when I was a kid. Decades later, I still remember the lyrics to this song! Have been singing it to my little one, and thanks so much for the clip!

  • I guess that the Secret Valley was a little bit like the Canadian series The Beachcombers in that it was popular all over the world.Surprisingly quite a lot of Australlians don't even remember the Secret Valley series !

  • In my youth this was without a doubt my favorite TV-show. I remember that I took a map of Australia and looked for a place called Secret Valley. Of course I never found it. In those days I dreamed of joining the kids of Secret Valley. It's a pitty that the series is not available on DVD, if so I would buy it at once. Greetings from Belgium

  • same here, was also my fav TV show and i also dreamed of finding the place!!lol, australians always maker the best kids tv without a doubt..

  • I'm so glad i found this.. i was starting to think i'd imagined this show being that none of my friends remember it! i absolutely loved it!!

  • classic i loved this show when i was a kid, none of my mates remember it though,im sure if i show em this they will remember.. i remember the bad kids spider, wombat etc. wonder where they are now.

  • I'm from Belgium and I used to watch this on the Dutch television when I was about 6 years old. I had such great memories about it, but I couldn't remember the title. Now I have finally found it, but unfortunately it's not available on DVD or anything. I would love to see it again, and show it to my daughter.

  • me ha gustado mucho recordar el tema

  • I'm an Aussie and I used to loooove this as a kid. Australian TV was actually good back in those days, it's nothing but crap now. I just can't believe how popular this was outside of my country! It's so nice to hear nice feedback from other fans of my generation from across the globe.

  • Remember the character 'WW' with the sqeaking, gloved hand??

  • Best kids show ever! Anyone who knows how to get hold of any Secret Valley, PLEASE let me know!

  • Of to australia in three months.

    No worry's mate.

  • In Spain was also quite popular. Nice recollections!

  • I bought the T-shirt! one of my favourite childhood shows.

  • I've been wondering for years what this show was called! All I remember was the theme tune to Waltzing Matilda and then the flying bus! Great find and great memories of the early 80s!

  • generations grew up with this show..also the dutch...thank they use the original english voices in The netherlands and don`t use dutch voices like the spanish and germans do with in their language...

  • heeft iemand the Return of the Antelope?

  • Hello, my childhood!

  • Ah, thanks for the memories...looked like this show appeared on dutch tv?

  • Yeah this was on Dutch in the early 80's, was about 8 yrs old at the time. Was looking for the theme song and was surprised that the 1st hit on youtube was actually a version with Dutch subtitles. I don't know how popular it was in Holland but I know it was really popular with the kids in my class :-)

  • The theme song was still in my memories :P great to hear it again, and it was many years on the duth tv

to bad that its gone :( as many other series

  • Oh my god i loved this show! such a breeding ground for b, c and d grade celebs in australia! E street would have been completely stuffed without this show - interesting also to c Rick Birch directed it the brains behind the Opening Ceremony @ Olympics in Syd.
