a four stroke with less torque? that doesn't sound right, four strokes have always had more torque and a smoother power band, two strokes have strong power at higher rpm, new fourstroke tecnology will make 2 stokes obsolete
because not to many companies are still spending the time they used to on two strokes, four stroke motors are now reving to 15,000 + rpm i havn't heard of a two stroke doing this yet,. two strokes were great at one time for simplicity and weight, the only idustry still using two stroke technology is lawn care for weed wackers and even some of those are converting to 4 stroke
This is more a question of application. With varying throttle, four strokes have the edge cause of torque and linear powerband but in constant wide open throttle apps 2 strokes rule cause of power to weight, compact configuration and cost of development and modification. BRP has done some amazing things with new 2 stroke tech that rivals 4 stroke in emissions and in some cases betters them. Again it depends on the application.
I remember when most of the racing boats were outboards, and if anybody from mercurymarine is here, give is back our I6 outboards and don't get rid of 2 strokes, please
I wonder whats going to happen to all the 2 stroke outboards with all the 4 strokes coming out ? Shame, I'm going to miss those engines...my last one was a S3000 Mercury
What's it worth?

i'll only fall for 4 stroke when the fuel economy matches that of 2 strokes.
