I was reading about this tune a bit.. I DO find it incredible how PHISH or, specifically TREY can write such songs with such DEEP PERSONAL MEANING.. and how they He can bring these tunes to the audience... I love Trey's Ballads... they are my favorite aspect of PHISH...
Just finished listening to T'ride shows and this song for the first time. Great new song. Stuff like this and Mexican Cousin is a cool new direction for the band. Mellow and lyrical! Can't wait for more, keep it comin' boys!!
Great tune....Found myself humming it this morning while waxing up my surfboard...I heart love songs! Thank you HarpuaFSB; your videos are my nightly playlist and entertainment! Lots' of love from Brooklyn!
All the negativity about this song; you're right, it's not about the amount of shows. It's about the meaning behind why Trey wrote. Yes, I have seen over 300 shows and have followed them since 92', but he wrote to his wife, the band, his phans, because he lost his way for many years and forgot what the purpose was in the big picture. Im a pro musician, writer, and creative writing teacher...this is beautiful. All you 70 and 80 show kids never will get to understand the years behind this song...
@jjahbrown Geez sorry I even mentioned the 80 show thing I just didn't want to be labeled a troll for even making the comment. This isn't the side of phish that i like AT ALL. If its the side you like, great. Thats the great thing about Phish, they have so many sides to them there is something for everyone. Unfortunately, the side I like they dont do much of anymore (August 93, Fall 97). I guess I need to be a pro musician or creative writing teacher to have an opinion.
Whatever homie, 70plus here and it aint about the amount of shows but the amount of the time you have in the experience. You listened to the song AGAIN!
@OneStepAhead608 ... I'd rather hear this snooze fest then Time Turns Swagtastic, but I've only been seeing them since 95 (binghamton NY) so what do I know?!?!
@OneStepAhead608 dude one day you'll appreciate it.. not sure how old you are.. but after a while, after years and years and show after show.. you eventually put your laser pointer down..laser pointer meaining pointing out every detail about a show. its all big picture homey.. the spacy, the rock, the blusey, ALL melts together into one..say it with me homey.. AND WE DANCED ALL NIGHT!! it will come my dude.
@Hunsanity I doubt it, I've given up on this genre all together. I thought as I got older I might start to appreciate this type of music but it just hasn't happened. Phish was really the only non hip-hop music I ever listened to and got any enjoyment out of. Near 100 shows later and I'm just bored with it, I need something with more energy. The last 3 Phish shows I've went to I actually left at set break out of boredom. Back to Hip-Hop I go... (31 years old by the way).
I cant stop singing this song. Really touches home with me. Life changes and we dont even realize it till were so far down the line, the only thing to do is reflect on it all. How things are and how they were.

@Hunsanity Same thing could be said about Phish! The music lives on anyways. You are right though, most of the new hip-hop sucks.
