  • I was expecting her to start rapping about eating cars for some odd reason.

  • Good song but this is a really STUPID video !

  • Great cut, produced by Arthur baker who produced some of the biggest jams of the 80's including Planet Rock (Soul Sonic Force), I.O.U. (Freeze), Play at your own risk (Planet Patrol), Confusion (New Order) etc.

  • ALL TIME CUT FOR ALL THE B BOPPERS!!!!

  • KICK ASS!

  • I saw Face to Face at the Palace in Saugus. They were awesome.

  • @Masstechteach I saw them at Hampton Beach Casino, they were awesome !!!

  • classic bboyin i used to get open to this back in the days

  • 0:03 Am I the only person that thinks "Bizzare Love Triangle" by New Order at that part? BTW, this is a great band, I don't know why they weren't more successful. The USA can also make good New Wave:)

  • wtf sound like fake version of blondie rapture

  • I remember how I got excited when I recorded the whole video clip of this song on VHS in 80's, in Tokyo. Does anyone have the lyrics?

  • I was at the Channel the night they filmed the live shots :)

  • @jbd2525 - Me Too! :)

  • yes i agree also very great song left out like many

  • One of the most under-rated , under appreciated records from the '80s. This album is a classic in my opinion.

  • @lbsrfr999 i agree with you it was one of my favorites!!

  • Saw them in the 80's at the Channel in South Boston, one of the most underated groups of all time.

  • Its no wonder that most have gone on to pretty good gigs, they were a tight sound and excellent musicians (still are)

  • Such a great song that I took for granted in the 80's. I thought music was going to always be this cool.

  • God, I love that Arthur Baker sound!

  • ditto. they should have been big.

  • Wow.. I actually bought all 3 of this bands cds. I can't get over how they never made it big. Laurie's voice is awesome and I think the band was great as well. Then you get some bands like Til Tuesday. A M'S voice wasn't all that. I thought Face to Face was going to last longer then Til Tuesday. I loved their second project as well. Tell me and Confess were two great songs which I feel their label Epic didn't do much to get this band off the ground. Just like Romeo Void they were great.

  • take the time to explore everything this band did, lauries voice has power and range

the perfect rock and roll pipes. Try grass grows greener on one big day

  • the live shots were recorded at the "Channel" in south boston anyone remember?

  • @originalseanzo I think if I had changed my mailing address to 25 Necco Street I might not have needed an apartment...lol

  • What a great tune...cheesy video and all.

  • It was at the Channel. They had to play the song over a couple of times because the crowd kept waving their arms in the air, blocking the view of the band.

  • I've been looking for a video of this song forever... I remember it well from MuchMusic in Canada back in the day!

  • This almost looks like it was shot at The Channel...

Saw them there many times, this song kicked ass live!

  • Saw them play this one at the Channel. Fantastic band.

  • Love this band too. Great song.

  • The only shame is that they never got the Recognition they should have gotten, one of the best bands out of Boston in the 80’s kicked ass live and much better than the no talent shit you hear today.

  • nicksfalling angel won't let you post comments about "10 9 8" so I'll do it here. This band is now defunct. It's a shame they were ever funct.

  • 1:36 soo 80's remix sounding

  • aww man bad ass song 4 got about this 1 sounds a little like blondie. i just stumble on this song right now thank .

  • O.K. let's get soemthing straight. The only good song on the whole album is 10-9-8 - so good, it's their one hit wonder and will always be remembered for it. Secondly, Laurie was hot and could sing- the band sucked- she could've gotten in another band , actually any band would've been better- just goes to show you loyalty will get you nowhere.

  • Incredible rarity video.

    Thanx

  • I still have the 12inch of this song!

  • HOLY SHIT!! I FORGOT ABOUT THIS ONE!

  • WHY AREN'T WE STARS??? EPIC FUCKED US USED US THEN MOVED ON TO FUCKING CALIFONIA!!!!! MEAN WHILE JOHN RYDER EMAIL ME GOT A NEW SONG COMING OUT I MISS U I AM MARRIED ITS ALL GOOD! HOWS MY LEADING SINGER LAURIE? CAN'T LOOK BACK WHEN WE ALL BEEN UNDER THE GUN!!!! EXTREEM MORE THAN WORDS HAHAHAHAHA AMIE MANN TIL TUESDAY VOICES CARRY FUCK THEM !!! KNIFE IN THE FUCKING BACK IS RIGHT!! KELLEIGHJAYE FROM "cinannabar"

  • This is back when urban dance/hip-hop was done the right way!

    I still love the 80s.

  • Excellent lp...saw Laurie Sargent solo a few times in the 90's...terrific...the whole disc is good, as is Heads and Tails, her solo effort..now she's with Twinemen..a bit spacy for me

  • I totally agree!! The 80's were the best...I wish I could go back!

  • @humboldtus this is new wave

    lol not hip-hop!!

  • VERY GOOD POINT

  • those were the days...such great musical memories of the 80's...

  • i used to mix this with confusion and renegades of funk

  • i remember those day s of good hot mixes,i hope ur still doin it

  • Wow! This one of the 80"s band that were cool. They just disappeared. Good stuff

  • the drum intro sounds like something done by new order or art of noise...

  • I was actually at the filming of this video - I think around 1983-ish...I can see myself at 2:50sec in the right hand side of the screen on my cousins shoulders...

This was a great night (drinking- music)- it was filmed at the Channel in Boston (stage /audience shots)- This band was great- I always wondered what happened to them- I hate it on Tape- thats how long ago that was...LOL

  • I have a high quality version on my page if ya wanna see/hear it!

  • I saw them at the channel night club in boston in 1987

  • new wave rules

  • Thank you thank you thank you. This was a great 12 LP mix that I saw in the early 90s. You making this available is golden. Thank you so much.

  • V66, holy shit. I came across a V66 sticker when I was rummaging through some cases the other day. That, and an old WBCN bumper sticker. Nice. Thanks for the posting. Sure brought back tons of memories.

  • My friends and I saw F2F many times in MA back in the mid 80s. I knew all these songs by heart. A very underrated band that put on a great show. Thanks for the memories.

  • Thanks for the support folks. Nice memories and some pretty decent music too!

FWIW - The first two FtF records (Face to Face and Confrontation) have been re-released on Sony (Epic), with some "bonus tracks", dance mixes and "One Wish" was added to Confrontation. I dont know about retail, but they can be found on iTunes (ya gotta dig deep).

  • I remember when V66 played this 6,000 times a day.

  • This was an awesome song to dance too, love it even today.

Will it ever be available on CD?

  • I have an xtra ONE BIG DAY CD if anyone is interested in buying it... I am also happy to send along the tracks to anyone. Its all but impossible to find on CD except for the Japan import which is a bit inferior in sound.

The were definitely one of the most underrated bands...ever.

  • My favorite group ever. Hard to find Face to Face with Laurie because of the other band that used the same name. Trying to find it on itunes is impossible. Definately under rated. Saw them many times in Providence. Thanks for taking me back 25 years.

  • itunes has it.

  • I love this song. Had the vynil single (wish I still did) where they remixed the shit out of this song 3 times i think.

    First of pop/rap/progressive/rock. Very original.

  • I was at the Channel when they filming the concert part of this video. Huge fan-all 3 albums, which contain the lyrics! Great 1st self-titled album, the 2nd "Confrontation" had a good song "Tell Me Why", 3rd "One Big Day" had " As Forever As You"

  • Would love to get all three albums on CD, but don't know the name of the third one. What is it?

  • Thanks so much for posting! I have the first two albums in my closet and need to pull them out- once I get an LP to CD converter.

Too bad Laurie doesn't make a web site; lots of people miss her music.

  • omg i luv face to face! laurie sargent the lead singer lived down the street from my house about twenty years ago!!!

  • This is great video, but it's not the original debut on MTV 1st year on the air. Does anyone know where I might find that video. I love this group. It was landmark in my life, I just got out of college and started being an adult.

  • 会えて嬉しいぜ!!!!

  • Buena, la estuve buscando por mucho tiempo. excelente para 10 9 8

    gracias You Tube, 27 y Doble9

  • asi es, el 27 era tranca de sintonizar en esa epoca jejeje

  • WOW!!!

Talk about a blast from the past! Thanks for the memories.

  • sounds like "Dan Hartman-We are a young"

  • Her hair.. Very Nick Beggs Kajagoogoo

  • It'd be great to get this band back together for a reunion show. We already know Laurie is still around and Stu is playing with Dylan last I heard. Hey, if John Butcher Axis could get back together, why not Face to Face?

  • What is her last name?

  • Laurie Sargent.

  • I used to play the extended version of this song when I was a DJ in college...love it! Thanks for posting an old, hard-to-find favorite! What ever happened to Face to Face?

  • 20 años buscando este video, YouTube es increible, hey!!! Gracias por subir este video...

  • definitivamente, gracias por poner el video, hey algunas otras canciones mas de este grupo?

  • si hay otro video se llama 10 9 8, muy bueno tambien

  • Wonder if Laurie was inspired by Blondie's "Rapture" for this one (well, at least the rapping part). Sounds similar, no? Kept waiting for her to rap about "eating cars"! LOL

  • Wow, You Tube is great. I love finding early 80's stuff like this that is brand new to me. Very good song, she has a great voice and the music is fantastic

  • Jesus. I bought this 45 after seeing the video on Friday Night Videos. I was about 12. Played it for a decade! This version has a different mix than the single. Thanx so much for posting!!!

  • Awesome! I saw this band at the Foxboro Fair in Foxboro Massachusetts back in the early 80's and they kicked major ass! Laurie's voice made the band imo. Great post, thanx!

  • This song probably would be more popular and more appreciated if it was released in the 90s. Great energy on this track, she's some band leader. She has tremendous presence. Way before its time.

  • Would love the debut album on CD. Don't know what happened to my vinyl copy of this...lost in the sands of time. I've been craving "Out of My Hands." Killer vocal performance.

  • I happy to say I still keep in touch with Laurie. She's now with the Twinemen with hubby and former Morphine drummer Billy Conway. She's really looking well and happy. So many backstage stories. I managed to see Stu and Laurie with most of the Del Fuegos at a fund raiser for Dan Zane's Mom's place in Concord, NH. I still manage to see DZ every few months... he's as big as Elvis to my kids. I catch Laurie from time to time. She's about 45 minutes West of me. SB

  • wow....how did you find this and how can i get a copy?? i saw this band sooooo many times in college. angelo was always so hot, laurie had mad energy, and the whole band kicked ass! and getting up onstage to do the chorus of this song with the band (remember that?!) was just FABULOUS!

lyrics? my pleasure- hit me up, too many characters to post here.

  • The name of the band Face to Face was used ( dont know why?) by a different band early 90's- a lot of fans for the real Face to Face as shown here still wish Laurie Sargent would put together a Video DVD with songs performed such as from American Bandstand.

    Come on Laurie do it!!!

  • I'm trying to find the lyrics to this song! All I'm getting from Google are results from some band from the west coast that recorded under the same name

  • Boston bands rule!!

  • noooowaaayyy...cant believe i actually found this on here...

  • Who evAAAAAAAAAAA told her to "Ummmm.... lets go for the steven tyler look" Killed this band ! Case closed ! Hello Tyler at this time is a down in the gutter junkie ! Oh well its to bad ! Great to see 10 9 8 again ! Btw... pretty girl and yes... dont getcha panties in a knot ! What a voice !!!

  • My second favorite from this band, 10-9-8 is first. Thanks for posting!

  • Thank you I have been trying to remember the name of this song for a longtime I was trying to look it up with 123 LOL Just found the video !

Wowww! Casi 22 años!!! Thanks a lot!

  • hey, no olviden que estos exitos se escucharon primero en doble 9

  • This song and video rocks on!! I have not seen this vid. since 1987. I have been searching for it for years. Finally you had put it on. Thank you very much, this is awesome!!!

  • my god...anyone got any of the vids from Face to Face's final album, "One Big Day"? That shoulda been the one that put them on the map. Criminally overlooked disc from one of Boston's better bands.

  • thanks so much for putting this one up! I've forgotten all about it!

  • WHOA! Never thought I'd see this one again! Thanks for posting! Every time you search face to face on the net you come up with the friggin punk band instead of Laurie and the boys from beantown

  • DAYUMM!!!

This was a jam back in the day!!!

    HIP!!!

  • I remember seeing this video on MTV the night the "Three's Company" spin-off "Three's A Crowd" debuted on ABC. Don't ask me how I remember that. I just do. I love the 12" Mix of this song. Arthur Baker was a brilliant producer/remixer. "10-9-8" is one of the best songs of the 80s. Thanks for uploading this! :)

  • i have not heard this song in YEARS! Thanks for finding this. Face to Face rocks! Very underrated band indeed. Cheers
