There's a Deep Purple mk.II concert video from Denmark, 1972, where Ritchie Blackmore isn't filmed at all during the first half of the show. I think they started paying attention to him when he was throwing his Strat all over the stage.

Actually, untrue - I play bass myself. I admire Myungs playing skills, as well as everyone else in the band. But when the guitar is taking a lead, and running such memoriable runs such as the glass prison 'sweeps' (i personally think its easier to play with alternate picking), shouldnt be ignored. Just my opinion.

And I love the sound I get. The days of 'Real bassists play with their fingers" are gone. Many great bassists play with a pick.
