  • I see a lot of people putting up how they did it, but they are wrong about some things. They started when the girl was 2 or 5, and soaked her feet in a warm herbal water. They would then crush the toes under the foot, and then shatter the arch of the foot. They would bind the feet, and have the girl walk to further shape them. The bandages would be changed every day, or twice a week. It was best to have a mother do it, as a professional could shatter the toes in multiple places to make them small.

  • dang imagine breaking all your toes on purpose just so your could "look good"

sucks that it went out of style

  • Looks like her foot is giving a Thumbs Up.

  • How can one walk without screaming with a bound foot? The veins and muscles and tissues and tendons... Wasn't there lots of bleeding too? this is outrageously horrific, tradition or no tradition.

  • Their feets are not broken, there just squeezed in, and its not even that old probs 150 years ago. People still have this kind of thing in China.

  • @moysh12333344 but they were broken during the process.

  • @moysh12333344 Yes, their feet were broken. It was considered better at the time to get more bones broken. In fact, unless the arch broke, the footbinding process wasn't considered complete. Some professional footbinders of the time would even dislocate the toes to make them more flexible. Besides, how can one "squeeze" a foot into a 3-inch shoe?

  • discusting. The women had to walk with dead feet?!!

  • @XinkySweet they are still alive... but there were cases when an infection started then the feet started to decay

  • how long would this process take?

  • @TwinTurboSmurf about 2 years.... from start to finish and i mean by starting bandages to when they were fully able to walk.

  • Is this where Stephen King got the idea for 'Misery'?

  • the foot was not broken at all... this lecture has no idea what he is talking about and probably just showing these images for shock value... bound feet woman would never show their naked feet, usually not even to their husband!

  • ya it was the toes were broken and they do have women showing their feet look at the internet they have pictures from a long time ago

  • I've personally talked with a doctor in Taiwan who has studied this in depth and has hundreds of x-ray images of bound food women's feet, thousands of documents and artifacts about this topic, interviewed hundreds of women, and written a number of books about it. He says no bones were broken and that for respectable women, their foot would never be shown naked. Of course a whore would do anything for money, and those old photos of naked feet were from prostitutes.

  • If their feet were not broken during this process, then how did they manage to get them in those tiny shoes? Obviously, these women were mutilated by this, their toes and arches had to of been broken, I don't see how they could have been shaped like that otherwise. If I'm wrong, then how did they get them in that shape?

  • they start at the age of 3-12 years old binding the girl's feet, first the toes under the foot except the big toe, then they start to pull tight so the heel and the front of the foot come closer and closer together... it is a long and painful process, yes, but the bones are not broken... do some research and stop assuming things... hundreds of x-rays, and hundreds of interviews, mean a lot more than an uneducated and Eurocentric point of view...

  • HAHAHAHA! Are you kidding me??

  • Seriously.

  • Speak it! Speak the truth!

  • i was wondering the same till today we learned it in school reading a book. When they were six years of age the mothers would wrap wrapping around the feet so tight so they feet so dont grow as they grow. men call it attractive... icky

  • @Capitulant They had them grown into that shape from when the girl was from 4 to 6 years old. Only the little toes were broken forcefully, then they were wrapped super tight into that shape and constantly tightened it each year. Fucking disgusting! I feel sorry for those women. They were forced to do this from their parents as a child, so they can get married by a wealthy man. Cuz back then, men only married women with bound feet. It was considered sexy in ancient China. I'm gonna go puke now.

  • @Capitulant You are right, they are broken. When there childs they fold the toes like that, then wrap, they do break already at that point. But they need to break even more at other points in there toes, if the proces goes to slow, they puth tiny little rocks under those toes, then wrap the foet back, they needed to walk like 10 rounds a day, until they break, then the healing process begins, there not allowed to walk alot, but it is how the walk with those feet what men found most pretty.

  • @Capitulant You're completely right the arches and the rest of the foot were badly broken during this process and infection would set in. Most of these women couldn't walk more than a few yards without excrutiating pain and not to mention it was terribly exhausting for them too.

  • @Capitulant 1: they broke the toes by making the women walk on their tips

    2: they removed the flesh

3: they bent the toes so they were almost touching the cut at the bottom where the flesh was removed

4: they made the big toe go the opposite direction

5: they used thread to attack the toes the the bottom of the foot

    6: they wrapped it

this made it so the feet COULD NOT GROW...

The women didn't even have a choice, and if you think about it, this is extremelly painful.

  • @UTMR117 WOW Where to begin...

    1. The arch of the foot was forcibly broken, toenails were cut very close, sometimes removed entirely.

    2. The toes were turned under toward the sole, NOT STITCHED into place, but broken to turn under more.

    3. The big toe was left fully extended

    4. strips of silk were very tightly wrapped around the foot and heel, this is what was stitched together.

They DID NOT REMOVE flesh. Girls were forced to walk for hours on their broken bones to further crush the bones.

  • @staystrong8966 no, they removed a bit of flesh, and the big toe was bent over the top of the foot. i learned this from a lot of research and SCHOOL. we even had to read a paper about it. and man, were the pictures gross. and by the way.

you're three months late. i posted this a long time ago, leave the past behind.

  • @Capitulant its a long prosses doesnt happen over a day or week thay bandage there feet an over time there foot grows to be like that

  • @Capitulant They broke all of their toes in order to do this. Then they're feet were soaked in herbs and animal blood and toe nails were cut as short as possible so infection wouldn't occur. They're feet were wrapped in silk bandages (which were soaked in the same mixture). Everyday the bandages were tightened and the shoes that were worn got smaller. This happened for approximately 2 years at ages 4-7.

  • its sick, you would foot bind just for the husbands pleasure? fucked up, the crack in the middle is like what they say the vagina! fucking disgusting shit craaaaaaaaaazy!

  • Yeah, but they did it so they were more beautiful too, not just for the guys...

they wanted to have tiny feet, like the empress who did aswell...it's like the ancient version of today's women getting a boob job or something...for tons of reasons.

its old fashioned plastic surgery! Haha

And,i'm sure if you were living in china a thousand odd years ago, you wouldn't think it's crazy...might be hard to imagine but it would be normal to you...and if ur a guy you'd soo fancy them deformed feet ;)

  • @violethead22 It's still wrong. These little girls were forced. No one gets forced to have their tits bigger. I say more power to the people who get boob jobs, they're enhancing their self image and it's not THAT dangerous of a procedure and the pain is pretty damn minimal (spell check) these days. Back then, they went through years of pain and were left deformed for the rest of their lives.

  • @MollyTheUkulele No, i know what you mean, no ones forced into changing their bodies, but thousands of years ago is a long time... people did all sorts of crazy things, today its totally wrong and immoral..but back then no one would have thought any different...they were forced yeah, but they would have thought of it as just something you HAVE to go through as a little girl...they probably didn't really think about the affect it had on their feet.

  • @violethead22 But it was SUPER painful for them and they would get infections and would practically be crippled. That should have been immoral enough EVEN back then. Somewhere on YouTube there's a video about a woman recalling the experience. Plus, when it was so long ago, don't tell me an infection couldn't potentially kill a little girl. I mean, think, a couple at the least had to have died. I understand where you're coming from, but it's a huge price to pay for the likes of beauty.

  • the story goes that the emperor's daughter was born with small disformed feet, so to over up for the humiliation the emperor declaired that it was beautiful to have small feet .

  • @cherryL53 that was proven false a while back. they do this because the men back then liked small feet so they would do this to aachieve women with small feet
