@smallfire66 no those would be put underwater and when a ship touchs it.....BOUM ! those artillery shell on the wood logs must have ripped those landing ships to shreds...
@smallfire66 Uh....What? The Mines on the post were only visible during low tide. For the most part the Mine was under the water, unseen and was used to destroy landing craft when approaching the shoreline. During D-Day they were very successful and took out many landing craft.

It was a lame strategy. But the allies were rather lacksadasiacal about bombardment, compared to the Pacific Islands. They didn't even use proven amtracks or monitors, basically armored shallow draft barges with big guns just for bombardment. or floating pillboxes. Omaha Beach was a pointless waste if they had just used some flair

And yea they must have.....The route from the fleet to shore, must have been flled with wrecks, bodies, ...
