I love my Ovation custom Legend. I have one that is 33 years old and MINT, and it will stand up to some Martins & Taylors, of which I also own. People, including guitar players who have never played one, don't know what they are missing. I call them 'wood snobs'. ;p
I am used to play an acoustic guitar but I always loved Ovation guitars. You don't need to see, just listen to, and you'll know it's an Ovation guitar...
Recently I got one and I have to say that it's been difficult to get used to the thinner fret board.
When someone's accustomed to the wood sound, the Ovation sound will sound less "natural," of course. The thing is, Ovation IS the acoustic guitar for musical environments which are less "traditional" for an acoustic, like jazz. That's why you see people like Al DiMeola, Miroshnichenko and some weird guitarists like Kaki King and the like playing Ovation. It fits perfectly for their sound. I wouldn't imagine Roman playing his music on a Martin or a Taylor.
well the point in playin an Ovation for most of ppl is, that the fret board is much thinner. so its probably easier to switch from e-guitar to this acoustic one. I like the sound of my ovation too and i got an amplifier for acoustic if i wanna play loudly. Its nice too that (well in mine there is one) xD they put in a tuner.
great guitar, owrth buying. Good for solos and other things =)
hey wayfaerer, you should hear my 28 year old artist with a solid spruce top. yeah, ovations age man, just like 100% woodies do. the thing about ovations is every one of them is consistently good, great great note separation, better than most woodies, aged OR new. anyhow you're entitled to your opinions, but i think you're shorting ovations out simply because of the "natural" ingrediant. anyhow... peace
is he russian or ukrianian?

@tastefulphrasing I believe he is a Russian, but Miroshnichenko is a Ukrainian name.

I've tried to like my Taylor more than my Ovation sig and can't can't. My O had the better note separation and a bit faster....just me maybe.

I agree I hate my ovation. I love Martins and Taylors, but my Ovation was my first guitar and I can't afford an expensive one yet.
