a bullet can come from anywhere - sniper, ricochet, RPG strike, etc. to me, that "fight" looks like staged, i never saw an enemy soldier, but the reporter says "us soldiers were so close to enemy that they could see them without binoculars" ha haa, but camera can't see them :D

that is a Barrett M82A1 50 cal. A Canadian sniper had a confirmed Haji killed with this weapon at 2440 meters, that is around 1.5 miles away.

With some modifications, it has been formally adopted as the M107 12.7 mm Special Applications Scoped Rifle. "Barrett .50-cal" now refers to just the old civilian version... In my one (and only so far) time to shoot, got a good hit on a point target 700 m away. Had a dummy tank target, but was aiming for a specific spot. Recoil's surprisingly soft; not much more than a shotgun's due to good mechanics and design.
