  • Who are the "dislikes"? What's not to like. Still a fabulous set of pipes even in her later years

  • Now, here is a singer who could sing right up until the end of her life. Wish Barbra Streisand had the chops for that. Ella was way beyond her years and her voice was sublime.

  • magic

  • Thanks for uploading it! Ella is amazing!

  • Wow. Just wow. Zak's favorite song on the jukebox in the novel, "Mission of the Sacred Heart."

  • True Legend.

  • I Love REAL American Music!

Thank You Ella. For giving us SOMETHING to listen to.

  • I know for sure that all those popular songs on tv nowadays will never get close till perfection, but these 2 came so close to it

  • god is a woman :-)

  • @maskenbildner66 I sure hope so!

  • Genius !

  • Just Perfect!!!!

  • this is stunning! an older Ella with depth to her voice that she didn't have when she was younger (of course she never missed a note). Joe Pass is wonderful! He rocks but never gets in her way. I'm an old rocker, but this is really one of the most perfect series of sounds you will ever hear.

  • @randmoore1 Ella was so ill by that time because of her diabetes and was loosing her vision.-

  • Two of the greatest at their absolute best. It just can't get any better.

  • je la prends en photo avec mon ipad en or

  • 24 people have no soul, and cannot understand or comprehend the true genius of these two artists. One of the greatest jazz guitarists ever, and the singer who could hit notes you'd think only a finely tuned instrument can make. The simplicity, the passion, no longer present in today's cookie cutter anthem music. Thank God someone was there to record this.

  • @JRindee Could not agree more with you.I got to see these two in 1985...I think about it everyday. There will never be anything like this again.

  • my favorite song and my favorite singer combined

  • i wish ella and joe were my grandma and grandpa, and ella gave me quarters when i went to visit them.

  • How to sing without the absurd vocal gymnastics like the hacks on American Karaoke.

  • Ella and Joe 2 masters in elegance !!!

  • thanks so much for posting this wonderful music!!!!

  • i love you Ella!

  • two of my favorite artists thank you for posting

  • thats 22 people who could be millionaire's and they would still be broke

  • I just have to say, that I'm so incredibly happy that there are people other than me who admire this much more than the brainwashing auto-tuned music played on 9/10 radio stations these days.

  • She could bring it home alright right up to the end.

  • Somebody mentioned an Auto-tune................the mere mention of that thing P......ss' me OFF ! Have they no PRIDE? Yuck !!!!!

  • It don't get any better than this folks............

  • coisa linda

  • Ahhhhh ... no autotune. Ain't it grand?

  • @Crash8686

It's a breath of fresh air actually! Ella was from a time and era where singers ACTUALLY sung! I wish singers in the music industry would go back to those times again but unfortunately autotune is the new fad. But you know what, I'm certainly not caught up in it. I prefer singers who use their REAL, God-given vocals to sing. Today singers are so superficial, phony, untalented, and the lyrics that they are singing are so forgettable versus the timeless lyrics of songs in the past.

  • @MusicLoverBrian1 estoy total y absolutamente de acuerdo contigo,la voz puede mas que cualquier sintetizador,es un don

  • IMHO (In this order): Ethel Waters, Ella Joe Pass, Sinatra, Lena Horne, Etta James, Billy Holiday, Dinah Washington, Connee Boswell, Judy Garland, Martha Wainright, Shirley Bassey, Elizabeth Welch, The Duke, Glenn Miller. Great song performed by great artists. YouTube has them all. Killer app.
  • JuSteen BiEveR created 21 accounts and hit dislike.

  • missing you.... every day ... keep singing Ella I always will be here to hear you....keep turning sad songs/things beatifull and happ music....

  • BEAU-TI-FUL! =)

  • My niece asked me if I believed in God; I replied, "Only when I'm listening to Ella Fitzgerald."

  • @Yesereebob AMEN! HALLELUJAH!

  • Sing it Ella!!! I swear I wish I could teleport to that era in music.

  • @millfordsange me too...

  • There's no better guitar/vocal combo than there two remarkable professionals. And there are an awful lot of ridiculous comments here by people who are apparently tone deaf.

  • Wow!! That was sooo lovely!! I just absolutely love this lady's voice! She's an amazing jazz vocalist!! Very inspirational!!! Bravo Bravo!!

  • Wow!! That was sooo lovely!! I just absolutely love this lady's voice! She's an amazing jazz vocalist!! Very inspirational!!! Bravo Bravo!!

  • Wow!! That was sooo lovely!! I just absolutely love this lady's voice! She's an amazing jazz vocalist!!

  • how can anyone dislike this...Ms. Ella Fitzgerald was awesome even in the latter years of her life...THIS IS AWESOME!

  • i'm so glad joe made it back, and who doubts ella is without question the voice by which all are judged..

  • joe pass and ella is like a blowjob from an angel, unbelievable:) Just pure nectar!!

  • @maxmoves64 nice way to put it

  • @vintagevox a bit crude i admit but what a sound. I love those melodic and harmonic minors. Wonderful stuff.

  • Holy cow... It gives me goosebumps. Her voice can really warm our hearts and makes us feel the world might be bit better with good music.

  • My inspiration :) <33

  • getting the chills from this.

  • There was a time when musicians studied their instrument, came up with new and unique styles, even if they took influence from someone else. Accompanying someone like Ella is harder than any solo could ever be. Joe Pass was truly a master of the instrument, and you could write a music book note by note with Ella's singing.

  • 3:05 is incredible, as is everything in and about this clip. Amazing.

  • @Pgenre - yes! wow. you are so right. on a snowy miserable winter night in NH, Ella makes it all better. Wow.

  • Ella ist und war die grösste Stimme.

  • Somehow Ella and Joe could accomplish as much as a symphony orchestra-just the two of them! In fact, I saw the two of them live playing with the Boston Pops. That was truly heaven!

  • This is what heaven sounds like.

  • Je me demande qui il ne peut pas, comme cette voix. L'imagination d'un bon brandy, de la danse douce et lente, ummm . . .

  • Lets not forget Joe Pass what a duo

  • There are 20 metalheads who can not listen to other music styles

  • Ella WAS the American Songbook! Anyone that can't appreciate her music has a mental problem, that you shouldn't worry about! You know what they say "Crazy for Breakfast, Crazy for Dinner!"

  • @meamichael

feel the soul? you dont have to! you can see it comin out her ears :p

    true talent

  • Oh man, this is great! Even in her older years shes still got it! She is an Idol

  • 3:05 is deeeeeeeep

  • This is Romantasizzle, for the Get Up in the Morning Gotta do Stuff Blues........ Happy Face.

  • she would get voted off of 'american idol'..............amazing

  • Like cream - so smooth and easy.

  • How can she butcher my soul like that? Just when I thought I didn't care.

  • My melts as soon as she opens her mouth to sing. Pass is the best ever too

  • How easy does she sing this... fantastic .. Tunetastic ...

  • unbelievable

  • me likey, me likey a lot

  • The Lighthouse was a room full of memories for myself as well. What a great Jazz joint. Another great place in the area was Concerts By The Sea under Redondo Beach Pier.

  • I saw Ella perform in 1976. I was probably the only one under 40 in the audience. Second row, too! She was divine.

  • Perhaps the best jazz singer in history! I love Pass--saw him a half-dozen times at the Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach where you sit three feet from him in the "pews"!

--Saw Ella at the Marsee Auditorium in Torrance.

  • the end about made me cry, and i'm about as manly a man as they come, one of the most genuine performances ever.

  • Tudo perfeito, música, voz, violão. Um momento único!

  • the voice never aged a bit...gift from God and thank you Lord for it....

  • beautiful

  • @meamichael yeahhhhhhh... "feel the soul" ... Magic!

  • she's awesome, i bet she was a cool person to be around....

  • the dress shes wearing is wonderful^^

  • oh yes, thats it! Shes one of the biggest...greates...amazing Singers...but no. shes JUST THE BEST OF ALL. With her own unique indescribable Style.

and it would be a human shame to forget her!

  • I'M SORRY, AND SILK FEELS LIKE WHAT? "I'm sorry again, did you say, ELLA? THIS IS IT! ! !

( by negative feedback on this video )

    Salu2

  • @aquimecole he meant the 20 "terrible" people who voted for "thumbs down" for this spot (see above)

  • @thebarrymiles There are 20 metalheads who can not listen to other music styles

  • @thebarrymiles

    Make that 21 man.

  • @thebarrymiles Let's flag them as inappropriate.

  • Oh, so THIS is what adult women singers are supposed to sound like! Thanks, YouTube. Mr. Pop Music told me he offered the best it got, and I had a feeling he was lying...

  • Ella ! the true Queen of Jazz !...

  • My radio plays McDonalds, mostly. So, I go to my old records for the tender steak! Mmmmm. Steak...!

  • @AzraelUK1 I don't like their views either, but still Ella Fitzgerald is a legend, her music is amazing and there are people far worse than republicans.

  • Awesome!!

  • Joe Pass "feels" it. That's all I can say.

  • Joe Pass' s accompaniment is the perfect foil for Ellas voice i think

  • terciopelo ... simplemente hermoso !

the music lives on. it should make the world a little bit better

  • @assa123assa123

    VERY WELL SAID!

  • I listened to this and melted out of my seat onto the floor. *sigh* They just don't make them like this anymore. Subtle, beautiful, perfection. And kudos to you Joe. They play great together, no one overpowering the other, no part distracting from the other. I have to listen to this to remember what real music is. Bless.

  • she had the best voice i think i ever heard from the heart and soul

  • Class!

  • wow. perfect vocal instrument in the hands of a master. inspired acoustic 2nd instrument. amazing, brilliant, beautiful.

don't absolutely need the video part but it's a nice bonus to watch the magic unfold also.

  • So cool it hurts !!!

  • I love you Ella.

  • You can't beat Ella. With the most inspiring voice in the business, she dominated then and still does among jazz lovers today. Such passion!

  • Poetic encounter between these beings so intense music

(Encuentro poético entre éstos seres tan intensos de música)

  • bow down peoples...this is the queen. Subtle inflections, this is your creator <3

  • how the hell can 20 people dislike this song? it's epic! it's classic! its Epsic!

  • what a great performance ! I love them who ever green.

  • better than billie h. !!!

  • @jorovimi please give them both their props. madam holiday was also intense. with respect to fitzgerald, they both ripped it and blew everyone off the roof.

  • beautiful song great jazz guitarist and an excellent singer just amazing

  • Two masters. They both make it look so easy.

  • What a treasure.

  • BEYOND COMPARE !!!

  • I agree with what you said TXRider but at least in my case my generation is not the jazz generation. I discovered Jazz in college when most popular music was doing nothing for me. I think Jazz will forever be timeless, but we'll never find ourselves in the exact conditions that allowed for its creation and heyday which is probably fortunate as this music was ultimately born from suffering.

  • I do not like the video, I'm loving it.

  • r u kidding me ?? How can she make it look so easy??? PERFECT !!!

  • Born with the gift. Dedicated her life to developing the skill. Always combining both to make the art. What a muse. Bless you Ella.Thank God. TSR

  • I love this lady, my respects to her and her talent.Class is class always....

  • has to be the greatest version ever but Ella was the best ever

  • Perfection... what a voice... what a guitar. So subtle, so magnificent.

  • I think Ms Ella lives in a class of her own. Simply magnificent, unique... pure class and talent!
