Im just wondering why people on youtube don't research the song they post. Its Hans Zimmer, the woman singing in "now we are free" is Lisa Gerrard, Not Enya and she also composed some of the tracks.
Lisa Gerrard has written with Klaus Badelt the tracks "Sorrow", "The emperor is dead" and "Elysium", whereas "Now we are free" as written by Hans Zimmer + Lisa + Klaus..
This was the music i heard as the twin towers came down! Have been searching for it ever since. Powerful stuff!!! I think of all the innocent people who died when I hear this.
this song have a huge fault. it's to short. :( remind me a video on youtube called: rachel brice tribal fusion bellydance. one moves me by sound the other by movement but they both are just to short.
The best soundtrack by Hans Zimmer, considering that all are wonderful, but this seems that it took everything, with help from Lisa Gerrard, Klaus Badelt and Djivan Gasparyan, each in its measure. Not because you have not returned to give an Oscar for "Inception " for example this year.
Funny how all the historic/sword & sandal films that came out after this (throughout the 2000s) had a soundtrack where a woman wails. Anyone noticed this?
This sound is so beautiful, i love the scene where Russel Crowe sees his family in the wheat field, it seems so peaceful and relaxed. It's a wonderfful vision of heaven with enjoyin' colors
This is the ultimate dirge; profoundly mournful and extremely beautiful. I can still see this scene in the movie when Maximus discovers the bodies of his wife and son murdered by Commodus' troops. Incredibly sad.
I will only have two music idols in my lifetime, and one of them is David Gilmour, and the other is Hans Zimmer, musical geniuses are not, Dizzy Rascal, Britney Spears, or any other apparent Celebrity nowadays. Even though they are talented people. A musical genius is a person who composes a work of art that captures every essence of the word: human emotion, and Hans Zimmer does that for me, as does: Lisa Gerrard.
@TigerEyeJewel Totally agree with you! Hans Zimmer is one of the best composers who can truly touch human emotion with his music. BT (Brian Transeau) is amazing at that as well, check out his album "This Binary Universe"
Its unbeliavable to think that took humanity 2000 years to surpass that savage, bloodthursty primitive way of life and only by focusing into science and progress could we evolve into higher perspective.
Did you know that every time Hollywood makes a movie and someone dies in it or a sad thing happens in it they will put the Armenian Duduk for it! and if you want i can almost name all the Hollywood movies that have that song in it!
In the booklet that came with my soundtrack it says that Klaus Badelt helped Lisa Gerrard with most of her songs (except "The Wheat"), and its the same way when I put it on my computer.
Hey I was looking for this Armenian song and thank you so much for putting this song up this is the best heartbreaking songs that I have ever herd and i thank to the Armenian person that came up with this song hehe

Yes this is by Hans Zimmer,Klaus Badelt didn't write any song for Gladiator movie, but nevermind it's great song.

Actually, he did. He helped Lisa Gerrard with most of her songs. He just didn't get credited in the movie. Neither did Djivan Gasparyan, I think.

Maybe you are right, but most famous Gladiator song's composers are Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard.Klaus Badelt is rarely mentioned.
