running foot speed on ps2 is the reason why id rather play it on ps2. i dont care if it looks real on ps3. i want it to play real than looks and this gives me a better sense of speed

The game mechanics are what counts more than graphics, especially when it comes to football. I'd say the PS2 isn't far behind the PS3 as far as that goes. The PS2 still looks pretty damn good. And paying $20 less for the same game = win.
I wish "Next-Gen/Current-Gen" versions had past-gen's (PS2) engine and gameplay with next-gen graphics. Then we would have a pretty good football program to play.
The gameplay is actually more solid than then "Next-Gen" versions. It has better physics, better blocking, over the shoulder catches, tackles (no RB pulling out of 4-8 man gang tackles) better gameplay interactions, reactions, and a more solid engine period. If you pay attention you'll see it does what the PS3/Xbox360 versions don't.
By the way I don't know about the Slims, but older PS3's are backward compatible and have menu options to improve images in PS2 games played on it.

I Have both systems and the Ps2 Version has much better game play all those so called new features have been on PS2 version for years fron the Franchise and custum uniforms to the backs leaning to alot of other things the graphics are not as good and they should be its "Next Gen" They messed a good gm up when all they had to do was move the same game over and improve the Graphics I have a 360 to play Halo a PS3 for Red dead and PS2 for madden. its not a matter of affordability.

PS2 the players break off the play and either block or go down field . PS3 The Def covers and then stops for no reason even after the Player catches the ball. most of all they are giving us features that have been on PS2 for years nothing new just repackaged. Oh yeah and it just plain sucks.

I found out a very helpful tip ( found by myself) when your doing the kick return (offense) and u catch the ball, wait for like 1-3 seconds and then run down the middle it should be cleard off defenders

understand where u coming from i have ps3 use 2 have a ps2 but never played madden on it only on the ps3 if u compare the ps2 verison from this vid and other vids compare to madden 10 on the ps3 yea the graphics sucks but from this vid and other vids ive seen madden 10 on ps2 the gameplay & physics are respected compared on the so called next gen system cuz i dont c any glitches or anything like that on hear compared with the ps3 version and i have seen on vids with the 360 it has more glitches

I Have both systems and the Ps2 Version has much better game play all those so called new features have been on PS2 version for years fron the Franchise and custum uniforms to the backs leaning to alot of other things the graphics are not as good and they should be its "Next Gen" They messed a good gm up when all they had to do was move the same game over and improve the Graphics I have a 360 to play Halo a PS3 for Red dead and PS2 for madden. its not a matter of affordability.

@leekleek1000 The GM is dumb down for people who have never played. The hard core madden gamers are being forced out. What happend to "its in the Game" example PS3 The players run to a spot and stop. PS2 the players break off the play and either block or go down field . PS3 The Def covers and then stops for no reason even after the Player catches the ball. most of all they are giving us features that have been on PS2 for years nothing new just repackaged. Oh yeah and it just plain sucks.

@moneyboxers321 The PS2 graphics are still very good and the overall game on PS2 is way more realistic as well. To many slow downs on the HD consoles that are more worried about graphics than gameplay. I'll stick with my PS2 thank you.

When i got my 360 i decided to get madden 09 for it and i imideatley returned it to gamestop and got the ps2 one and it was way better. The 360/ps3 gameplay id HORRIBLE. The ps2 version is more FUN to play. My friend has madden 11 for the 360 and i still hate it. The gameplay sux. the only good thing about it is superbowl mode and the ps2 will probably soon get that. Who gives a shit about graphics.

I found out a very helpful tip ( found by myself) when your doing the kick return (offense) and u catch the ball, wait for like 1-3 seconds and then run down the middle it should be cleard off defenders
