She certainly has a beautiful upper-upper middle (F-G-A) in the Lind style. She does get a little tired as the air progresses (it's an endurance test in more ways than one!) but, all in all, this is one of the very best performances of this old chestnut I've ever heard. And uncut! I love the acoustic Polydor label. Thanks for a fine offering, goldenageofsong.
One forgets (I do, in any case) that Jenny Lind was accomplished as an oratorio singer as well as an opera singer, or, for that matter, that Adelina Patti sang Handel at the oratorio festivals. I think Muller-Rudolph's rather straight, vibrato-less tone works well here. Thanks to the always well-informed AE for sending me this gem, and thanks also to the posting by the discriminating connoisseur, goldenageofsong.
