insanity is repeating the same attempt in hopes for change. This is merely a musical spectra. The tide and ebb flow of him and her she and he, or what ever you prefer..... The train mang....
the music quality shifts because the vibrations become too much for magnetism to pick up thus we get the weird muting and fading in the middle of this.. Its all energy and these guys are sumoning the energy into one place... hahaha
This man taught me to write, to take the principles and philosophies he adopted later in his career and apply to the written word. I enjoy both his earlier work and his, in my opinion, beautiful later work. No need to argue about a man who gave up on trying to be understood anyway, it's all about feeling and connection...
I can listen to this and appreciate all the 'great' albums that these musicians produced. I also know that there are times when a musician(s) do not sound like we think they should. They are human. Thank you. Enjoy your coffee and try to make things better!
Look, Coltrane was making all this shit up as he went along. That resulted in 50% unfathomable brilliance, 50% "not as good as unfathomable brilliance." I've listened to it enough to be able to be able to tell the difference. Compared to the solos on Interstellar Space, Transition, parts of Stellar Regions, the Olatunji Concern, Live in Japan, this solo sucks. That's all I'm saying.
as far as i am into it this solo is far from sucky. its not so cut and dry to say that he was 50% brilliant or whatever. THat would apply to all jazz which even in this case is bullshit. Most of what i hear him playing right now sounds pretty good to me and i own probly about 20 coltrane albums. I am biggest of all a fan of improvised music so to me if a player is good than i take all of what he has to say and dont restrict them to 50% brilliance. For the most part i enjoy it all just as much.
@opinioninflicting What history you are talking about? This is made in '66 and now is 2010! It is GREAT, but when you listen to Coltrane you can't ignore the time he worked. NOT an easy ride for a black musician or any black person. Looks like you are listening to the notes coming from his sax. What I am hearing is human being deeply wounded by his time... or you think is easy to live with a all restrictions at this time... Anyway just some remarks, no hard feelings!!!
One more time go and lern some history, you are really out of mind, I think the one who is in the interstellar space are you freak, jajajajajaja, the point is that you don't have the capacity to understand this amazing music and Legacy, jajajajajaja
To the mother fucker who put this video online: You are nobody to said this record isn't Coltrane best performance. I strongly believe that you don't know a shit about Coltrane's music and legacy. Each and all of his compositions was, are and always will be a masterpiece. Coltrane is history himself, your opinion is really stupid and ignorant. I'm sorry for you Freak, jajajajajajajaja
that's an opinion! This is one of the absolute best Coltrane live takes I've ever heard ever! so raunchy so real! beautiful

All these namecallings and egotistical displays. For what? Surely not in the spirit of John Coltrane, as told by those who knew him. What a shame.
