  • how much did it cost you to buy thus ereader i've bin looking at the prices on amazon and prs 505's price is way more than the touch version

  • @joe5178 The old Sonys have all been replaced by the one Sony PRS-T1, fastest, lightest, fully touch capable. They're regularly $129, but go on sale for $79.

I love my iPad for Comics and Manga, but staring at any LCD screen for too long gets irritating.

  • wow this thing is perfect for mangas ... awesome!

  • @zombiecarrot I dissagree, the screen is way to small. Most of my manga are over 7" and its best to use something of that size or bigger, preferbly 9.7"

  • what site did you download your ebooks from?

  • @junit090 try any scanlation site, such as MangaHut

  • how did you download manga on your ebook reader?

    pls answer me. thank you:)

  • @junit090 You don't download manga on your reader, you have to download or scan them on your computer, convert them with Calibre, then copy them over USB.

  • @NowLoadingdotCOdotUK can you make a video on how to do that? please.

  • How is it reading manga on it? Is it straining on the eye and are the texts too small? Is it comfortable?

  • @complicationsucks It's fine other than really small non-story text you get which you have to strain to read, but for the most part it's perfect. Again, it depends on the compression of the source images, the screen can display quite intricate detail, but the conversion process can be hit and miss.

  • @NowLoadingdotCOdotUK As long as it's readable that's good enough for me. Some people said mangas are COMPLETELY unreadable on a 6 inch, so I just wanted to know if this is true (which I assumed was a huge exaggeration). I will probably use either Canti or Calibre to convert the mangas (whichever is better I suppose).

I'm going to get the prs-650. Thanks for the quick reply and help!

    P.S. Love Hina rocks.

  • Great video...thank btw where do you get your manga ebooks from???

  • @Mangafreakrjai

Download/scan the jpeg's and convert them with Calibre.

  • @NowLoadingdotCOdotUK How do you mass convert a bunch of pictures in calibre?

  • @jbkrule Depends how you want them sorted, quickest way is to chuck them all in a folder, zip the folder, rename the zip extension to .cbz (or .cbr if you used WinRar) and convert it in Calibre. You will end up with a book of those photo's.

You can just dump .jpg files onto the internal memory and view them in "Pictures", but they don't open as fast.

  • @NowLoadingdotCOdotUK Wow, thanks for the quick reply. I haven't had the time to try this out yet, but I have a bunch of folders of short comic strips. Does this format them for the screen or will it show up as its original size? Either way, I am extremely grateful for sharing that method, thanks.

  • @jbkrule It will resize them to fit the resolution of the screen, make sure you always enable "keep aspect ratio" and if it's traditional right to left Manga, obviously tick the "right to left" option. You are most welcome.

  • @NowLoadingdotCOdotUK

Do you know where I can download jpeg formated manga's??? thanks

  • @Mangafreakrjai There's millions of sites where you can get Manga from, just remember to only download what you have already bought!

  • this video made me buy one thanks !!!

  • You are both welcome!

  • Thanks again. I actually found the forum where you posted this video by accident on google. After reading it though I went out and bought one. hehe. I pretty much did what you said with calibre, keeping aspect ratio and right to left. The manga comes out perfect IMO and even separates them if they're two pages are scanned on one image in landscape mode. Thanks a billion for all your help!

  • If you make CBZ/CBR files then you can use the free Calibre software, I recommend you tick "right to left" and "keep aspect ratio"

You can read all the bubbles, this is why I said be careful with compression, as the ability of the e-ink screen is only as good as the source material. Only the smallest fonts will give you trouble.

Will see if I can make a better video (camera was a bit crappy) but yeah, it's brilliant for reading Manga/comics.

  • Wow thank you so much for this video!! This is exactly what I needed to see. Is it hard to convert manga to LRF format? Also I don't think the video quite does it justice. Can you read the text bubbles in love hina without zooming? Lastly would you recommend this as an ebook reader/manga reading device?

    Thank you again!
