Apparently the average IQ is around 100 (dependent on location, eg. Average IQ in China is 120) so that is actually quite worrying, my IQ is 137 and that was 10 years ago (when i was 19) so i am sure i could 'slightly' better today, not much though, 'maybe' 140 - 145 tops).
The problem is that most people, particularly in "the west" are too preoccupied with TV and trivial nonsense. They can do their job, get pissed at the weekend and have no real appetite for knowledge or learning.
I believe we are being "dumbed down" deliberately, the last thing the establishment want is a population that is capable of critical thinking and challenging the way things are. Education is a big part of it but certainly not the silver bullet.

Furthermore, if you calculate the IQ’s required to attain an average of 98 derived from a population of 307,006,550 that puts about 48% or 150,433,210 (roughly) above the 100 IQ mark. That means the US has EASILY more persons with an IQ of 100 or greater than the UK( Over twice as many ). I expect a rebuttal about averages. The simple fact is US has A LOT larger population to educate. To lose only 2 IQ points given the population we do very well.
