The boy is now grown up and is now in a life and death confrontation with nature. Nature is seen not as a companion but as an enemy which must be conquered. The boy's desire to witness the fox wedding and then to eat the peaches in the orchard were a premonition of this. Ironically, the men are saved by a nature spirit, though it isn't clear whether her intentions are good are evil.

I love the way Kurosawa expressed himself, the desesperation you get until minute 5 where they are not talking, and just hardly breathing is amazing........

I really admire this guy and I hope to get similar dreams as his, they're just amazing

i saw this movie when i was about ten years old. even though it's pretty slow and nothing happens for a while i can still remember this scene like i've seen it yesterday for some reason. i guess that's the kurosawa magic.
