I love this song but the second verse makes no sense to me. I found the lyrics on a few websites but I still can't understand what is meant by the second verse. Any help?
I thought I knew all The Corries songs, but I don't think I have heard this one before, it's beautiful. made me go goosy all over. I was brought up listening to the Corries and have loved them all my life. Roy was always my favourite and when he died, it broke my heart. When my son was born in 1995 I named him Roy.
Absolutely breathtaking! Beautiful song! (and nice photo collaboration along with it!) Sung in such a soft romantic style, in contrast to the Dubliners' version (which I also love!) Thanks for this post! Do you have the "Oh Waly, Waly" song as posted in the comment below mine? Do post it as well! I'm curious to hear it now!
This was the first single (after the EPs) and with Paddie. I fail to understand why this, and the other side (Oh Waly, Waly), which I like even better, failed to chart.! This was about the same time as the Seekers. Great stuff.
I think if this song had been released in the states in it's era, it would have got it on very well with radio stations then, and would have been quite popular.
Actually this is not from the single but an earlier recording made for Tradition Records that never materialised. The arrangements are similar however. Oh Waly Waly is on one of The Burds EP's; which one I can't remember. Sung by Paddie it is a song from Edinburgh mentioning Arthur's Seat & St. Anton's well etc etc. Love is teasin did get some air plays but was largely forgotten.
Long story. We recorded our repertoire for Tradition. It didn't mature. Later some of the tracks became the Burds EPs. Love is Teasin is from the Tradition, earlier recordings. Later we recorded it for Waverley. I suspect they had tracks that never saw the light of day and didn't know it.

Hi Bill,
I wondered about that! My memory suggested that the "Teasing" recording I knew was richer and more "complete" than this one.
What's the story behind the Tradition recording? Was this before Waverley? A proposed album? Are there more of these recordings hidden away?
Best,
Tom B.
