dasy2k1, Yes, the UK really does need better infrastructure. It looks truly antiquated compared to what is commonplace over here. In response to your second bit, cyclists going through red lights are very far from being the "only problem" on Britain's roads. There are reasons why they do this. Generally they come down to infrastructure being produced which doesn't work well for cyclists. The opposite is true here, and skipping through red lights is relatively uncommon.
It's really nice to see lots of people cycling, and good cycling provisions... (nice little traffic lights you had there!)
I wish the UK would make it easier for cyclists to cycle, rather than bashing those who don't want to wear helmets, or focus on bad cyclists, or bitch about costs...
It sounds like the United States and Britain share the same inadequate infrastructure for bicycles.

Britain has quite closely followed the US example, resulting in very much the same (low) rate of cycling.

Those junctions are what we need here, the only problem is the cyclists who think red lights dont apply to them
