  • Where is the galangal og gingerroot?

  • I like mine with rice on the side

  • this song is sooo awesome only reason i watch this video!

  • I noticed that you use coconut cream instead of coconut milk. what is the difference between the two. I love this video by the way and Thank-You!!! :)

  • @scruffy281 Thanks so much! I use cream for cooking and milk for desserts...can't really explain the difference but you can tell by the taste once you cook it.

  • @scruffy281 coconut cream is thicker, thats all

  • I really like this soup, it's sooo delicious^^

What is the name of the song and the band singing it?

I can't stop listening to it, it's such a catchy song.

  • @dasTsuchan Hi! I'm sorry but I do not know the artist and title for this song. If you search "Youtube to mp3 converter" in Youtube, it will show you how to extract songs from videos such as mines.

  • Perfect!!!

    Delicious!!!

  • i tried it and loved it! You are awesome...please make more videos.

  • tHANKS FOR SHARING

  • Thank you for this helpful video

  • You're welcome pleomorphick!

  • @forg3tm3not770 what the name of the song you have on here?>

  • Nice work, we liked your video very much so we embedded it on ChefCommons . com w/ link back and reference to Youtube. (Let us know if you don't wish for it to be featured)

  • Awesome video! This totally makes me want to run out to the asian grocery store and make this. I think the only thing I would think do differently (after doing so much French cooking) is substitute chicken stock for the water. And maybe no scallops since I'm kind of on a budget. Anyway thanks so much for posting this!

  • Thanks so much towelboy12...oh yes, I would use chicken stock over water anytime when making soup, but like you, I'm on a tight budget so I can only scrape by with chicken boullion for now...:P

  • is the chilli paste optional?

  • Yes, the chili paste is optional, but honestly, it doesn't spice up the soup.

  • it looks a little bit thick.

and i was just about to ask about the galangal when i read the info

i would love to make this soup but i dont know where i would get galangal lol

    i friggin love this soup.

good video, made me hungry =]

  • You can get galangal at your local farmer's market or asian grocery store. Thanks for watching crakalakin!

  • It looks delicious!!! I´m going to make this:D

  • Thanks sunrise0307!

  • How come coconut cream is bad for youu?

  • If I had time (and the ingredients, most not all) I'd make this soup today. I love Tom Kha Gai, and you've made it look simple and delicious! And I'd have to agree with Khmer, i love the fact that you stress cleanliness in the kitchen. Fantastic!

  • Thanks coopy00!

  • I've made it twice already and I like it a lot. Although, I haven't been able to find coconut cream anywhere. I've been using just coconut milk and boiling it down a little to thicken it...I don't know if this is the best substitution or not but it tastes good to me. *shrugs*

  • Thanks JuneNewton! Yes, you can use coconut milk...they'll both work the same and I don't even think you have to condense it down either.

  • i just had it today and i didnt really like it

  • People have different taste buds Mike901108. Most dishes are not guaranteed to favor everybody's preference. Sorry that you didn't like it.

  • what does this have to do with how to make Tom Kha Gai?

  • People mouth is the most disgusting things, there's alot of germs and bacteria,i don't mind so much my fiance, she's very clean,i know her well, she wear my boxer to sleep, but i don't like people sticking fork and spoon into someon else plate and soup bowl, separate everything with friends and strangers, separate soup bowl or i don't eat, germs and hepatitist could be passed around you know,we're not clean freaks or anything, but if we can help it,why not ? with STD and stuff goin around, its scarry ;)

  • You make the best cooking instructional videos ever, you even stress the cleanliness(AKNA-MAI),the hand washing and the hair thingy, the presentatin is absolutely beautiful, you're getting an A+ ,passed with the highest honor, the most stars, the food look delicious,it's done very clean, please put out some cooking dvd,you exemplify the perfect domestic Diva, you should teach Home Economic class ;)

  • Thank you bong...yes, I cannot stress enough the importance of cooking cleanly. I even hate it when people use their spoons to taste the soup and put it back in over and over again. That's a complete NO NO for me.

  • I made this soup last week and it was delicious! Im making it again tonight! Thanks for posting and sharing your recipe!

  • Thanks MeSoHorny213! Be careful with eating too much food with coconut cream though...it's not good for you. Now I sound like my mama...hehe!

  • I wish i could jump through the screen and eat it! this is my second favorite soup in the world! yuuuummy ^___^ lol!

  • LOL! You're so silly....so what's your first most favorite soup?

  • THIS SOUP ROCKS!!!!!!

  • Thank you very much TroyboysWorld!

  • I like to listen you talk or the video than just pictures....video helps me better. Thanks for sharing.

  • You're welcome KeoMeas! The still picture tutorials were my older videos when I did not had enough memory for my camera yet. Please check out my later videos which were taped live.

  • wow i like this khmer song..

  • Thanks sardnhi!

  • Great recipe... but I noticed there was no 'Kha' in this tom Kha gai?? Did you choose not to use galangal?

    Love all the mushrooms too!

  • Thanks sboardman and yes, I was supposed to use galangal that I had forgotten in which I posted to the right side where the ingredients are in "About This Video".

  • Oh can't forget about this song either :D

  • Sorry, but don't know the title of this song. Thanks for watching!

  • I now discovered Khmer dishes on Utube; I will try to make them for my family. I love it!!! so exotic ...

  • Thanks usa92592! I don't noticed a lot on Youtube and that's why I would like to share what I know.

  • I only put one TBL spoon of chili paste, and my son couldn't eat it. Next time I knew, I will be carefull on it.

    Can U share more dishes?

  • Oh no...try the dish w/o chili paste and see if it taste similiar...I've never tried it w/o chili paste before so I'm not sure if it makes a difference or not. Hopefully, your son can eat some of my other dishes in this channel...*^_^* Happy New Year!

  • Yum! But what do I do if I can't find lime leaves?

  • Thanks tribekat! Umm...let's see...that's hard b/c the main ingredient is lemon grass and lime leaves. It's easy for me b/c I have it in my vegetables garden and over here, you can find it at any asian grocery store, but if you can't find it, try doing it without and add more lime juice in the soup to substitute it (even though it doesn't really substitute one another).

  • Does anyone have any crackers? Hee hee hee.

  • You're so silly! *^_^*

  • Wow and you can cook! Looks delish....I want to try to make this one day, but without meat? Is that okay...just seafood? Saw wad dee kah!

  • Hi lavendarberry! Thank you very much. Yes, you can put seafood only. I recommend mussels (remember to clean the shells very good), shrimp, and scallops. They would make a great combination of seafood for this dish and imagine how much they charge if you were to eat it at a restaurant.

  • All your recipes look fantastic :)

  • Thanks and though it might look like a lot of ingredients, believe me, it's very easy to make.

  • mmm that looks soooo good! =]

  • Thank you very much mamii2luv!

  • damn that looks good... I love Thai food

  • Thanks! I'm not sure if coconut soup is originally from Thailand, but this is my Cambodian version of doing it.

  • Thanks for the recipe...I'm going to try it tonight!

  • You're welcome and remember, all the seasonings such as salt, sugar, fish sauce goes according to your taste and always start out a little at a time first. Thanks for watching!

  • Hehe,

    sounds really cool!!

You should coook some food for me sometime.

    Lol

  • Aww...I would love to, but since I can't, I don't mind giving you my recipes.

  • Thanks!!

    I appriciate that!

  • Do you like to cook?

    I love cooking

  • I love to cook...it's my #1 favorite hobby and not only do I like to cook for myself, but for others as well such as for parties or weddings. You should see my collection of cookbooks.

  • Haha,

    I love this video!

    It looks so darn yummy.

    Thanks!!

  • Thanks AznShnoodle!

  • i'm an asian, so i can see how western people try to cook our dish. the way u cook is a bit different because here (at my country) coconut milk is the last thing u add in ur soup.i usually use fresh coconut milk, so if i boil coconut milk 1st, then the coconut milk will get smudgy.anyway, if u want ur soup taste better, add onion! gud luck

  • Hi alongazura! My mom always taught me when I was learning how to cook that the reason why we use the top 1/2 portion of the coconut cream in a can first is to get the coconut oil to come out when it's boiled. It gives a very distinct taste (such as when we use it for desserts). That's why we usually save the other half to add with the water or soup afterwards. But when I'm too lazy for that extra step in the beginning, I just dump the whole thing last too. *^_^*

  • quick and cheap i hope

    ssssccccccccooooooorrrrreeee

    thanks ;)

  • LOL! Everytime I don't have time to go grocery shopping, it's guaranteed that I can make fried rice w/in 2-3 mins top! All it is is jasmine rice (which in my household is part of every meal everyday), frozen peas and carrots that you can get at your everyday grocery market chain, eggs, meat, and seasonings. See? Cheap and quick.

  • wow..2-3 min?..i had all the ingredients cooking in individual pans then adding all the ingredients together in the end. kind of a lot of cleaning up after tho...but it is quick, cheap n easy..which works for me, since i tend to spend a lot of my money elsewhere. e.i. makeup=)...hehe

  • ha, a girl from my own heart

  • Well, if I'm making it for a party and wants to present it pretty, it takes longer b/c I cook the eggs separately and then slice them thinly to place them on top of the fried rice instead of mixing them all together. Don't get me wrong, the 2-3 mins doesn't include prepping..*^_^*...first I cook the meat that's already mixed in with the seasonings. Once cooked, add rice and viola! It's done.

  • jasmine rice has been apart of my life before i can remember. 3 times a day actually when i was a child...kinda funny how i still eat rice like crazy, u'd think i'd hate it by now. i can't wait to see this one. i got chicken rice and eggs...and corn?

  • Oh no, if you're used to it, there's no way you'd hate it by now b/c we eat it 3x a day too. Rice is one of those things that you can't live w/o once you're used to it. You can use baby corn too if you want or the frozen kind. Vegetable lovers use the frozen vegetables bag vs me, who hates vegetables and only use the frozen peas and carrots bag.

  • can u do something thats a little cheaper

  • Hi neverknowsbest17! Actually, this dish is really cheap (but then again, maybe b/c I grow my own vegetables/herb garden...hehe). I'm hoping to post a tutorial on quick and easy fried rice for all you college students out there...*WINK*

  • lol..im reading this comment just as i finished cooking some quick n easy fried rice it only took like 15 mins and i used whatever i could find in the refrigerator..the soup looks good tho, i want to try that some day, but knowing me following cooking directions i would need at least a good couple of hours=)

  • Me 2! *^_^* Everytime there's nothing to eat, I can guarantee you that there will be something in the refrigerator that I can whip up into fried rice.

  • i love mushrooms..this looks yum..i'm going to try it..thank you!

  • Thank you hokidoki! It's actually very easy to make but takes lots of prep work as you can see by my video. You can also put any kind of mushrooms/vegetables (I sometimes add baby corn which I love).

  • thanx ..it looks yummy but i don't like seafood lol

  • Thanks vanessaQTR! Most people are allergic to seafood and you can eliminate that all together. The soup tastes just as well with just chicken alone. Enjoy!
