Ok he's a nice person but I still think he sometimes says too much. For example when he beat Hewitt in the 2007 Cincinnati SF 6-3, 6-7, 7-6 he said "It's always very difficult against him". Another example is that he said "I hope Andy isn't going to surprise me today" before his 2007 QF match against Roddick. I don't see any class in talking like that about other players, specially Grand Slam champions and former No. 1s.
I don't see the problem with those words... Especially with "It's always very difficult against him" - for me it's rather a proof of his respect than any sort of despise or irony. He has every reason to be proud of himself, and I appreciate his not denying this - I hate false modesty. He is honest, yet not arrogant or big-headed: I think it is the best way how such a famous and successful man can behave himself.
When did he behave like a pop star?! its not his fault that so many people are interested in him as a person apart from a tennis player. He is also not commercialising himself, those activities are done to promote the sport of tennis. Also, all big sports stars secure huge sponsorship deals... at least Roger is still first and foremost a tennis player unlike guys like say David Beckham. Now that is commercialising!
