  • @ThisIsSATA

    yey i agree

but install ur HDD ovr the usbport... u need a driver but it works.

  • I'll definitely get one. :)

  • @iamdarkzu nice i think i might try an altoids tin :P

  • Mayne gonna have to get one of these :p

  • thank you a lot

  • Cases will come later, you could easily buy a hobby box and put it in that, I will be making a case, don't expect this to be your main computer, it would be great to use as a NAS and/or torrent and web server etc (I will be doing so) you can probably VNC to it instead of a monitor, really looking forward to this, also you will not need a fan, thought it wouldn't hurt

  • Made 50 usd :B

  • God I want one...

  • If you play stuff in 1080p, could you please record in 1080p?

  • @pewpewpenguin its just to show off it can play the video...

  • Will it be in a case when you purchase it or does it come like that?

  • will it need fan cooling when put in a case?

  • What movie is on the trailer?

  • @prillall Might want to listen to this video with sound, then see if you have the same question.

  • @prillall star trek

  • @ntilo Thanks. I did search for it and find it.

  • In my humble opinion, if he made this for non-profit, he really needs that Nobel prize of the world, or how it names.

Not like that man with it dead-birthed OLPC thing

  • I want one xD!!!! NOW!

  • Put an xbmc distribution and you will sell thousands!

  • im so getting this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How did you start movie playback without X being started?

  • This is awesome. Can't wait to get my hands on one of these bad boys!

  • name of trailer shown here?

  • awsome

  • Very Good

  • That la tuyet.

  • I bet 75-80% of people who bought Raspberry Pi will be disappointed when they'll have to install Linux :)

  • @MSDOS128 whats wrong with linux?

  • @MSDOS128 Yea.... MSDOS would be so much better *cough *cough

  • @candIejac fat troll

  • @MSDOS128 You can't ignore my girth.

  • Watch out now, or SOPA will get you for running that Star Trek trailer.

  • How would this run Fluxbox?

  • When you say "computer" 50% of ppl think of games running on this XD and go go go buy it ^^-

  • @softilol I wonder how this would run Xonotic or similar games (after compiling an ARM version, of course).

  • @softilol Just realized it only supports OpenGL ES of course.

  • @softilol

    watch?v=e_mDuJuvZjI

  • Flaky Crust!!!!!!!!

  • $25 computer! And he made it for non-profit to help schools and other countries! That's what I'm talking about and great job Dave! We all need to help and look out for each other in this world!

  • How would this run with KDE or GNOME?

  • @JamerTheProgrammer gnome and kde needs more RAM, but LXDE/XFCE works perfectly

  • @d341d Ah, perfect.

    Cannot wait!!

  • @d341d : In the old days you could run a KDE 3.5 desktop using 22mb of RAM... But with 4+GB being the norm, developers completly lost the focus on memory usage...

  • love it

  • you failed to mention the video file details

    What file container?

  • this animation runs smoother than on my dual core atom with 2gb ram ddr2....

  • I can't wait to play BF3 on ULTRA with this thing.

  • @rydeen18 You do know that this thing has an ARM processor, right? That means no games at all, unless you can compile them yourself.

  • @WolfosDotOrg It was a joke man lol

  • @rydeen18 Well, there's enough people who believe this will be able to run UT and the likes ;)

  • @rydeen18 yeah indeed that would spare me like 980 euro on my current pc

  • Oh, of course I would fond out about this the day after Christmas.

  • please try with usb hard disk

  • I want this thing, I want it inside of me. Is that samurai thing a game or a demo of some sort?

  • damn it runs smoother than my pc

  • Great video, nice to get a look at the final board running.

  • Is it tablet main?

  • omg O_O

  • This will change the world of Linux computing as we know it. I really hope this takes off.

  • What is the market for this?

With people shelling out 500 bucks for a phone, who is going to want a 25 dollar PC that does very little.

  • @rutherk1g 1080p HD playback? A phone needs a separate cable for this, not to mention not all of them can playback 1080p smothly. It'd work great as a media center.

  • @rutherk1g

I can use this as a dedicated torrent downloader over network and have external USB HDD as storage, save power without having to leave my high powered system, or gaming laptop on overnight. Many others options will come flying at you once I can think em up~

  • Cool, this is really really promising and exciting, but I'm more interested on its multitasking capabilities.

  • Seems it would make more sense if it was wireless...

like a cell phone or tablet. Right now it appears to be more of a modem and a router. Patiently waiting for the wrist band model.

  • Here's the 1080p trailer for star trek.

Glad the video's only in 480

  • Impressive and cool demo. Hope they can hold on their promises and start selling it in January :D

  • Great job!

  • I'm pretty sure all humble bundle games have Linux versions.

  • @chubbypigeon33 Yeah for x86. I doubt they have builds for ARM chips.

  • As far as i could see you boot linux that is on a network shared partition. Why didn't you boot directly from the SD card? Was the card too small to hold all the files or is the SD reared in the device too slow for some reason?

  • Could i run XBMC on it?

  • yes where is the storage from!?

  • @h2v7simon I assume it's from the SD card.

  • But will it blend?

  • @Careah Of course will it blend - look at this little device.

  • @antnx u mean 'it will' ye?

  • @Careah no it wont fuckin blend bitch

  • @guitarchim: I'm pretty sure it will! XD

  • @Careah cant wait to bring this thing to my grandma so i dont get bored

  • wait till it releases, people will try to run crysis on it, and i wont be surprised if it will actually work! im definitely buying this thing, its amazing

  • @ravyHD You are full-blown retarded.

  • @BuckyLollocks why? maybe not on the one that is demonstrated here, but on the future ones

  • mfw windows 8 will run on SOC

  • *Looks to the left to gaze upon my heap of junk...

  • : D <--- my jaw dropping

  • Genius!

  • and is it linux only?

  • Pretty cool. IS the storage from external usb?

  • ахренеть

    надо акции покупать

эта штука может порвать рынок и сделать linux популярным

  • LOL Microsoft disliked this video.

    Pre-Order?

  • Okay, I can't wait to play skyrim on this!

  • i dont get it runs stuff off flash memory?

  • @h2v7simon

umm, do you see the usb ports?

  • I'm throwing my money at my screen but nothing's happening.

  • @TMack771 Its not fake you fucking retard.

  • But can it run Crysis?

  • @SilenThps I have heard if you shove enough far up your ass it may be possible to run it in 355x334

  • I cannery wait for one of these...

  • this is geil, i'll set up a web server on this thing... how much power does it consume?

  • @aktendulli 5.5v

  • Seeing as the humble bundle bought loads of games to the linux.. Would love to see if any of the games run on low specs

  • @fullfire55 None of the Humble Bundle games will run on the Raspberry Pi at present, there may be Linux versions but they're for x86 this is ARM based.

  • Is it digital?

  • Is it digital?

  • It runs Linux, meaning it'll run any decent browser you want. Not IE but then again I said DECENT browser. :D

I want to stick one in my car as a mobile media pc...anyone know if there exist in-dash monitors with HDMI input and an amp with speaker outputs?

  • This video really does show how the big hardware companies are not innovating, and are just drip feeding slightly faster, slightly smaller increments every year.... Props to the guys behind this keep it up.

  • Wow i want one now !!!!!! :O

  • fickend awesome!

  • can i install android in it?

  • if it does all that at that price and size make a bigger one!

  • Having cables larger than the device looks silly. It needs bluetooth for input devices, and wifi for internet.

  • @hnsnfrk1 id get one of these as is but would also if I liked the cheapy one purchase a more expensive one if it had wifi and bluetooth :-) I have always wanted to play with linux but never had a spare pc to play with

  • @eatbetter Haha. Ur name is "eatbetter" and I'm "Im10AndImThisFat". Thank for the tip. :)

  • How am i going to plug in a mouse and keyboard? it only has 1 usb port.

  • @Im10AndImThisFat usb hub

  • @Im10AndImThisFat with a usb hub. model b has 2 usb ports

  • pretty cool thing!

  • when i saw this online the first thing i thought was wow these people are so smart !! to produce a pc mother board with everything on there and at just 15 pounds 25 us dollars is amazing !! this pc will take the world by storm because of the price ! what i want is for them to produce something to put it in !! something thats east to open so we can tinker with it

  • @sergioleoneitalia easy to open so we can tinker with it

  • you people this is low tec stuff to keep the price low because the whole point here is to produce a pc that anyone in the world can buy

  • WOW

  • aha! ein Nokia micro usb kabel!

  • I want a little more powerfull version with USB3/SATA as a Hobby NAS.

  • The last time I got this excited, was when my friend booted up Cannon Fodder on the Amiga, and I was like "how is it possible to have voice on a disk" - I took out the disk and just stared at it in awe for several minutes. Amazing work, absolute genius!!!!

  • You are a hero! Keep up the good work!

  • One of the supporters of the official SITE is University of Cambridge!! :) So, it's a good product, full of excelence!! Its ridiculous how expensive things are if u waste few money to produce it!!

  • LIKE IT'S SAID ON A FAMOUS COMMERCIAL WITH CLOONEY: "IT'S A LINUX DISTRO! WHAT ELSE?". ;)

  • I was really interested in finding out which command line video player was being used. What is ". mov" actually running?

  • @escotts you seem to be unaware that playback from a file isnt like a VHS tape

  • I nearly crapped myself when i saw it playing the trailer

  • harry potter talking

  • I see it can play 1080p video which is great but does it have the processor power to fast-forward and rewind at decent speeds? I just went to raspberrypi. org to buy one but it seems they aren't for sale yet.

  • I want one please

  • impressive. aren't here heat problems when it is build in a case?

  • I want to write demos for this in the near future.

  • I have GOT to get me one 'o these!

  • can you plug an usb hard drive in it?

  • @SumDuDe34 Yes. You may need to use a powered USB hub though, the Pi itself doesn't draw much power.

  • @SumDuDe34 you see usb on it? I can see so yes.

  • Capain Jack says "Why is the RAM gone?"

  • But can it run League of Legends?

  • where is the dislike bar----oh there isnt one.

  • one people dont like star trek :D

  • sold

  • How hot do the chips run, when watching a 1080p film, or doing light work on an OS?

  • and can we conclude from this that all the tablets and smartphones are overpriced?

  • @DanFrederiksen

yes because this computer also has a touchscreen and can make calls.

  • @DanFrederiksen Sure my friend! FOR INSTANCE: AppleS**!... Apple is the most ridiculous way of selling metal bars as it was gold bars!!

  • @DanFrederiksen They have a battery and a (touch-)screen, a case and they have to be even smaller and the producers have to earn money. You can get some smartphones for less than 100 dollar with all that, so no! Not ALL smartphones are overpriced, but most of them are.

  • @DanFrederiksen well they run more than linux

  • where is the ram?

  • @DanFrederiksen the ram is built in

    Model A- 128mb ram

    Model B- 256mb ram

just look on the pi website

  • yay!!!

  • Your previews are much like telenovelas - you cut it when the thrill reaches the peak. Show us how apps are performing on LXDE, dammit!!!

  • Can't wait for it. Buying a few. Doing computer science at uni in a year's time as well, so perfect. £16 is a bargain and they must be commended. ICT in our schools is a shocking downfall. How many newsletters can someone do in "ICT"?

  • Looking good.

  • Hey, this looks really exciting. I'm only just learning about this from an article I read on the BBC. I would be really interested in how this could be used in developing countries because of its low costs.

  • @HealthMaternal not really, they'll need to buy monitors and input devices for it as well

  • @LeClassics It plugs into any TV with either an old composite Yellow RCA jack or an HDMI port.

  • could we get lxde tips for better performance, and more of an indeath look at the lxde on the raspberry pi.

  • My wallet is ready
