Very touching and well presented. I had to watch it again to see the parts I missed because of tears. Our grandson was diagnosed right after his 3rd birthday, and those first days were heartbreaking. Our Type 1 will soon be 11 and is my little hero. He plays Hockey goalie and is proof that with proper care, good parent team, and loving big brother that anything is possible. We walk for the cure as "Ryan's Dream Team". Thanks for your efforts in creating this message :0) Ryan's Mimi
God Bless you guys!! This video brings tears to my eyes for sure can barely watch! My son was diagnosed at 16 months old and is now 5. What a life changing diagnosis for all invovled. This disease is so hard to control and the young boys and girls are so strong and deal with so much! Good luck! I am running a marathon in May and raising money for JDRF. Every bit counts! We need a cure!! Good luck and take care!
They're such troopers! My son's pump failed 2 days ago & we have to do syringes temporarily (thanks to insurance wanting to play "dr") I couldn't take the shots & finger pricks. I give props to all diabetics. we have to keep banning together to raise money to support a cure AND educate people on this. 2yrs ago, I had no idea about diabetes. I thought people just had to watch foods with sugar. Unfortunately, many people I come in contact everyday still think this.
I feel bad for those who believe there will ever be a cure marketed for diabetes. NEVER is the release date on that "Marketed" cure. I've been a type 1 diabetic for over 40 years and every few years there's a news story about "The NEXT POSSIBLE CURE for diabetes". They always tell you that it will be about 10 years. Yeah Right! Diabetes is a cash cow for drug companies, doctors and the JDRF. PERIOD! Deal with it and be all you can be. Forget that fantasy cure. It's not going to happen.
I was diagnosed when I was 13.That wasw 48 years ago.At that time I had to boil my syringe and needle. The needle had to last till it was so dull that I couldn't get it in my skin.Had to drive over a couple hundred miles to buy a new one for years before they came out with disposable ones.
Thank u all suporters I'm a type 1 and am only 13 i was only 10 when diagnosed but have never been the kind of person to be y me? I embrace it bit hole for a cure bcuz I STILL HAVE A CHANCE!!! my pancreus still works enough to fix if there is a cure but I'm one of the lucky one so pray for the ones who aren't
My tears fall watching this as my son died Jan 25th 2010 just 13 days after his first Birth day. Please be strong and keep the faith you can make it.... We are fighting for a cure

my dad, Mark Merriman, jus passed away at 6:28pm September 17, 2010. he died of type 1 diabetes complications. his battle lasted from the age of 9 to 48, when he was 26 he went blind bc he didnt take proper care of himself, when he was in his late 20's-early-30's he had 3 kidney transplants, 1 from a cadaver, 1 from my aunt & 1 from my cousin. he had gone into a diabetic coma about 5-7 times & had been in 1 jus 3 months before i met him for the 1st time 2yrs ago. i pray your son is a survivor.

I pray Almighty God will cure all these children.

please consider this for your son! he will greatly appreciate when he is older

@krisy101hann please i beg you, tell him, my dad died 2 days ago from diabetic complications after yrs of being in & out of about 5-7 diabetic comas & 3 kidney transplants(1 cadaver & 2 relatives donated) & going blind at 26...no one shuld ever die like that. i nvr want anyone to suffer the pain of dying from or losing someone to diabetes ever again, but unfortunately it will...but even tho it will continue...& your life will change if its true & you do hav it, dont make yourself & family suffer

hi im 10 and i have type one diabetes to i have had it for 4 years it is very hard to go through i take my inslin to much cant wait tell they find a cure
Wow this really makes me think that Ian is similiar to me. We both have diabetes Type 1. I am on my 10th year and at times it is tough and we all know it. No one really knows what its like until they have gone through what we have gone through
Im 15 and I have had diabetes for 12 years. I completely understand what you have to deal with. It sucks. I know. No one can say they understand unless they have physically had to inject themselves with 4 shots a day and pricked their fingers 6 times a day. Don't let it hold you back. Stay healthy and take care of yourseld while we wait for a cure. :)
I have had type 1 diabetes for 7 years now. One of the best pieces of advice I have ever had was--Diabetic is an adjective.-- You are a strong, healthy, smart, and adorable little boy. Don't let anyone use an adjective with you. You are a boy name Ian...who happens to have Juvenile Diabetes. Stay strong...we will overcome this.
My name is Vince. I am also a type 1 juvenile diabetic. I am currently going into my 12th year as a diabetic. I was diagnosed when I was six years old. It is a constant battle that you will fight every single day of your life, but nothing in life is worth while without a fight. I am now entering my first year olf college with excellent control. I am a firm believer that God never gives us anymore than what we cant handle. We can handle it......Good luck Ian...
I would like to hear from the person who posted this about Ian. I believe that we can help educate others learn about this disease and help one another as well. Please reply.
When I saw this video tears kept running down my face YOU ARE A TROOPER IAN! I am a Type 1 Diabetic and have been one since I was 8 1/2, I am now 22 1/2. I have struggled with ups and downs since. In 07 when I became pregnant with my 1st child I went on an insulin pump, ever since then I feel more normal than ever. Ian, never give up hope and never let this disease get the best of you. You are a brave little boy, you are now MY hero. I wish you the best! You and your family!
Can I ask how Ian has been? I believe that we can educate ourselves, each other, and others to understand this disease better than in the past. We need to work together. I have it as well, but I am an adult. I know the up's and downs and the emotional tides that it casts to others. I also know the troubles of dealing with Dr's and pharmacys and insurance companies. Let's make a difference!
I am very proud of you Ian! Your a young boy with diabetes! Just like me! but im a 13 year old girl! i've been fighting up and down blood sugars for 5 years now, but it hasn't stopped me from playing hockey and skiing and swimming and everything! If you are 5 years old, there is a type 1 diabetes camp you can go to called camp rottary! I go there every year now! They help you and everything! Just stay strong, we can fight it together!
You people believing that there will be a "Marketed Cure for Type1 Diabetes" need to wake up. Profits are in treatments, NOT CURES. The drug companies will be no closer to marketing a cure in 100 years than they are right now. The JDRF predicts a cure for type-1 diabetes no sooner than five years hence but no later than 10 years away, soon enough to give hope but distant enough that people will forget that they are lying.
@lilviola i'm sorry but it is ppl like you who take away hope from ppl like me who hav lost loved ones to diabetes...my father died just 2 days ago Sept. 17, 2010 of diabetic complications...& my Papa("grandpa" as it is clear you are a idiot & prolly culdnt figure that out) to a heart attack brought on by his diabetes 4yrs ago. if i didnt hate the thot of someone suffering the same way i am, i wuld pray that you culd experience the pain i'm going thru.
@DYANNALUNA92 You call me an idiot but you are the fool believing in a cure that will never come. You say that I am wrong but yet your father never saw the cure I told you would never come. I am type 1 diabetic and I am not living with my head in the clouds or in your case, "up your ass". I'm sorry about your dad but he isn't the first and won't be the last. They will never mass market a cure for diabetes. Cures aren't profitable. Treatments are...
@lilviola it wasn't possible way for my father to survive to see a cure, he had to many medical problems stacked against him, he went blind, had 3 kidney transplants, 2 heart attacks, 1 stroke & had been in 5-7 comas. you can say & believe there's is no hope, but all my 13 sibling( 2 diabetics & a nurses), my mother(pre-diabetic), my step-father(diabetic), my brother-in-law(diabetic) will never stop fundraising, doing research & giving ppl hope until there is a cure. is cancer incurable to you?
@DYANNALUNA92 Billions! That's the annual amount made on treating diabetes. How can you compete with that? Those who could find and market a cure won't because it's BILLIONS of dollars they would be losing if a cure were marketed. How many times have you heard about a new break-through and hope for a cure? And where are those break-through promises now? It's all BS and there will never be a marketed cure. That's what I said and I still believe that to be true. In 10 years maybe you'll see too.
@lilviola i will never see something i won't believe is true...i hav to hold on to something if i can't hold onto my father. stem-cell research is being done for a CURE...not treatment. if i hav a child who is unfortunate enough to develope T1D then, what else can i do but hope that he/she won't suffer the same way my father did & that they will live to see a cure. just tell me this...what kind of mother wuldn't hope for something that culd save her child's life...answer: a careless mother.
@lilviola Thanks for the positivness. -.- do you have diabetes? we all Believe, there will be! There are outbreaks, technology is advancing now too. so yeah.
@lilviola I agree with you even though I try to stop being negative but with this disease there is no choice. It makes too much money for the big pharma companies.I made a comment about cures almost the same as you on another site and they didn't put it up.
Your were diagnosed on Satuday, Please, if you have any questions just ask. My son was diagnosed a year ago & I would be very willing to help w/any questions if I know the answer. Take care of yourself & I wish you the very best.
YES, there will be a CURE! No doubt, they are working on certain things now that have the potenial to CURE alot of dieases! Take care & thanks for sharing!
This is good and all, but let me tell you about this dude I stumbled on. I don't even like rap like that but I must admit he impressed me. Search "Vthov Obama Inaguration Song" and you'll see what I'm talking about.
I love this video! I am a Type 1 diabetic for 5 years now, and this video definitely portrays a diabetics everyday ordeals. I hope Ian makes a big comeback, he seems like a very strong child from this video. I can tell you, the pas 5 years haven't been easy for me and my family, but it takes a strong family and lots of courage to pull through. I am presenting in my communications class on civic engagement, and Ian's example of helping JDRF is one of my compelling motivational tools. Best of luck
I LoVe this video and i really hope that one day there will be a cure for diabetes!!
My mom had diabetes and I see what she has to go through everyday! I can't imagine seeing my son [when i have one] to have to go through what Ian is going through.
I Love this video and just keep your head up lil Ian Blake!! :)
i was diagnosed with type one diabetes same day as nick jonas but not the same year it was november 16 2007 and now the diabetes is going to my uncle he was just in the hospital about his kidney bleeding so always pray that doctors find a cure and keep your head ian like i said NOBODY'S PERFECT
i have type 1 diabetes and i cry everyday because i have it oh im crying right now but i hope your life is great but i will always keep my confidence up to cure it for me and for the kids who have it so be happy that you have it nobodys perfect keep that in mind

DYANNALUNA92 1 year ago 2

DYANNALUNA92 1 year ago

We have a little girl who will be 8 on Nov.
4th. She was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes when she had just turned 4 years old. I call her "My Little Trooper", as you stated you do. I hope and pray daily for a cure. Tell your Little Trooper he is not alone, as, at times, my Little Trooper feels as though she is. Thanks for posting and sharing.
